National Conference
PENNRIDGE 16, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 6
After battling to a stalemate after one quarter, Pennridge began to pull away with 5 goals in the second period as the Rams remained undefeated in National Conference play with a 16-6 road win over Central Bucks East on Wednesday.
Taylor Burkett led the Rams with three goals and one assist and also contributed three ground balls, five caused turnovers and five draw controls.
Cece Hayes led the Patriots with 3 goals, while goalkeeper Abby DiAmicio made 11 saves.
By the numbers: Pennridge: Taylor Burkett (3 goals, 1 assist, 3 GB, 5 CTO, 5 DC) Maddy Boyer (3 goals, 1 CTO, 3 GB), Cayla Wurz (2 goals, 2 assists), Leah Verespy (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 DC, 3 GB), Madigan Posey (2 goals, 1 CTO, 1 GB, 3 DC), Gianna Leuthe (2 goals, 1 assists, 3 GB, 2 DC), Aubrey Bailey (2 goals, 1 CTO, 2 DC), Emma Gall (1 goal, 1 GB), Harper Posey (2 assists, 1 GB)
Central Bucks East: Cece Hayes (3 G, 6 DC), Paige Dougherty (2 G, 1 A, 3 DC), Natalie Berndt (1 G, 1 A, 4 DC) Abby DiAmicio (11 saves).
Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski on the game: “Another great game for the Rams, taking us to 7-0 in the League. Today was an exciting win and felt like a full team effort with tons of different players making contributions on both ends leading to our success. Overall, there will always be moments in the game where we need to recognize our mistakes and adjust. I’m glad we did early and put away a solid win.”
–The first half: “The first quarter was very back and forth, and East was doing well on the draw, winning 5 of 6 which was difficult to overcome early. We started off the scoring with Gianna Leuthe finding Taylor Burkett in the middle for our first of the game. Next to score was Madigan Posey who put up her first on an 8m shot. The last to score for Pennridge in the first was Cayla Wurz who took advantage of a quick rebound for a goal. We ended the quarter tied 3-3, and I knew the focus was going to be making adjustments on the draw so we could get more possessions on the offensive end.
“We did a great job adjusting on the draw in the second quarter, and we were starting to pick up momentum offensively. Leah Verespy scored her first and only on the day in typical fashion, off a Cayla Wurz assist. Gianna Leuthe scored her first on the day just a minute later off an 8m take. A bit of back and forth for a few minutes allowed senior Taylor Burkett to stand out in her performance in the ride, causing back-to-back turnovers and collecting both ground balls to go with it. Taylor was on the hunt today and she was on fire. The mix of her skillset and dominant athleticism is the perfect combination as the backbone of our ride. Once we settled things down offensively and took advantage of a man up possession, Leah Verespy found Taylor Burkett for her second of the day. Next to cage was Maddy Boyer who put up back-to-back goals for the Rams – her first off a strong drive to cage finding a lane, and her second was from a Harper Posey assist. Maddy had a great game today and has been working so hard all week to make improvements in her game play and shooting. I have high expectations for my girls, and that doesn’t go away even with my freshman. I told her what I wanted to see, and she brought it today and got back on track with offensive production. We ended the quarter up 8-4 and feeling good.”
–The second half: “Going into the second half our focus was staying composed, staying aggressive, and continuing to dominate possession. Today’s game was hot, and there were moments players were getting knocked to the ground and frustrated, but I told the girls to be focused on the next play mentality. You can’t change what happened or a call, but you can focus on how to make up for it and rise. The third quarter was a great showing from our D, East had no goals at all, and offensively, we could not be stopped. Leuthe scored the first of the quarter off a lefty inside drive, her second and final goal and third point on the day. Madigan Posey scored her second and last on the day off 1v1 to goal. Posey is close to her 100th goal milestone, and at this point in the season, it’s not an if, it’s a when. We are ready for her to hit it! Next to score for the Rams was Taylor Burkett who completed her hat trick off a Harper Posey assist. Harper had two assists today, I was so happy to see her contributing to the offensive unit in a bigger way. She is a smart player who is still coming into her role on the attacking end and today was a step in the right direction with her decision making. Last to score for the Rams on the quarter was Cayla Wurz who put up her second, flashing in right off a yellow card penalty. We ended the quarter up 12-4 and ready for more.
“In the fourth, we had a lot of different personnel on the field. It’s nice to have the opportunity to test our depth and prepare for next season. First to score in the final quarter was Aubrey Bailey with back-to-back goals, the first from a Taylor Burkett assist and the second off an 8m. Next was Maddy Boyer who completed her hat trick off a Cayla Wurz assist. Last to score for the Rams was Emma Gall who utilized her speed to score her third varsity goal of the season.”
–Overview: “Overall, I’m happy with another win. Today was really fun and a nice way to get back into it after not having a game for over a week. Looking ahead, we are in for our most intense week yet starting Monday. I talk a ton about our goals and how we are going to achieve what we have set out to do all season long. It’s the best kind of butterflies when you know what you worked so hard for is now in your reach. We have a few more battles to win but if we stay focused and play our game, nothing will stand in our way.”
Central Bucks East coach Kelly Tait: “I’m really proud of how the girls played today. Pennridge is a very physical team with a number of very talented players. We started out strong and were able to control the draws for most of the first half and were able to keep the game close. The third quarter got away from us and then we were playing catchup for the rest of the game. Our goalie Abby DiAmico had a fantastic game with 11 saves.”

We caused 12 total turnovers and capitalized on 14 groundballs as a group, limiting South’s shot opportunities.

Central Bucks South coach Janique Craig: “I’m incredibly proud of how our team competed tonight against a strong CB West program. While the final score of 2–11 doesn’t reflect the full story, the game was played with tremendous intensity and heart. Ella Kim had a standout performance with a team-high 5 caused turnovers, while Kaeli Vandersluis and Alivia Lloyd each added 2 caused turnovers.
“Offensively, we’re continuing to build chemistry and connect well on settled attack. We created several strong scoring opportunities and will keep focusing on generating more high-percentage shots as we move forward. We’ve faced a tough schedule in the first half of the season, and while the results haven’t always gone our way, these challenges have helped us grow and prepare for the road ahead. The effort, growth, and resilience this team is showing each week make me confident we’re heading into the second half of the season stronger and more determined.”
