SOL Patriot Division
Bensalem 3, Council Rock North 2
An early deficit was quickly erased, and then after CR North scored to tie it early in the second, Bensalem answered with the game-winner seven minutes later, as the Owls picked up a huge SOL Patriot win by a 3-2 final at home on Tuesday.
Chase Esposito scored twice for Bensalem, including the game-winner in the 59th minute.
“This was a really big win for our boys,” said coach Kevin Bock. “They have been working really hard all season, and the extra effort is paying off.”
Scoring:
First Half –
CR North, 5th minute
Chase Esposito (B) from Jordan Posten, 12th minute
Daniel Mathieu (B) from Jordan Posten, 23rd minute
Second Half –
CR North, 52nd minute
Chase Esposito (B), 59th minute
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
“The game started off a bit slow and we gave up a goal roughly five minutes in. Despite the goal, our boys continue to put their heads down and work. We were able to equalize when Jordan Posten popped a ball through to Chase Esposito for a goal. We were then able to go up 2-1 before the half when Jordan took a shot that bounced off the goalie and was finished by Daniel Mathieu.
“We talked at halftime about not letting up and putting together a full 80-minute game. Roughly 10 minutes into the second half, our goalie came out and made a tackle that resulted in a red card and us being a man down for the last 30 minutes of the game.
“Our backup, Carter Grant, came in and we conceded a goal to tie the game shortly after that. Carter then came through with several solid saves while also making the necessary clearances on free kicks and corners.
“The boys rallied and Chase was able to find some space and buried a shot from nearly 30 yards out to put us up 3-2 and give him his 30th goal of the season. We then survived a steady onslaught from North.”
–Props: “We got several exceptional performances today, including from Dylan Barnhart who was all over the place today, Cole Everett who has been a steady presence all season long, and our outside backs, Danny Kalita and Ben Reinert.”
Next up: Bensalem (10-2-3, 4-2-2 SOL) has another big one at home Thursday against Pennsbury. CR North (8-2-3, 4-1-3 SOL) will look to bounce back against Neshaminy at home Thursday night.
CR North 1 1 – 2
Bensalem 2 1 – 3
Pennsbury 2, Harry S Truman 0
After being held off the scoreboard for 70 minutes, Pennsbury broke through with late goals by Anjur Curevac and Jackson Hilt to get past Harry S. Truman in a Patriot Division game on Tuesday.
James Purdum and Cooper Stubbs split time at keeper for the Falcons and recorded the shutout.
Scoring:
Second Half –
Anjur Curevac (P), 71st minute
Jackson Hilt (P), 74th minute
Truman coach Rob Brown:
“I want to give a shout out to my keeper, Joey Tizol, and my back line. They played great and kept Pennsbury off the board for a majority of the match. Last game we were down 4-0 at halftime. This time we played close to 70 minutes even at 0.
“Don’t get me wrong – Pennsbury had plenty of chances, but we played hard and defended as a team. We got a bit lucky as well on a few shots, but they weren’t gimmies.
“I am happy to see the boys getting better each game. We have a lot of injuries, and I was missing two senior captains, and everyone else has picked up their play.
“We don’t have the wins I would love to have, but you can tell we are getting better and I have gotten a lot of compliments from coaches and referees. So I know I’m doing something right.
“We are gonna battle until the end. I am happy the boys have never quit on me. They keep working and want to always play.”
Next up: Pennsbury (9-1-3, 6-1-1 SOL) plays at Bensalem on Thursday. Truman (2-10, 0-8 SOL) hosts CR South on Thursday.
Truman 0 0 – 0
Pennsbury 0 2 – 2
Neshaminy 2, Council Rock South 0
Steven Buczek and Dylan Choi scored second half goals for Neshaminy, which went on the road and knocked off CR South on Tuesday night.
“I thought we played an outstanding game,” said Neshaminy coach Tom Foley. “We had them buttoned up pretty much all night.”
Scoring:
Second Half –
Stephen Buczek (N), 43rd minute
Dylan Choi (N) from David Lopez, 72nd minute
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
“We dodged a bullet in the first three minutes. They got a penalty kick. I’m not quite sure for what, but they fortunately missed it wide. We had two chances in the first half, but we didn’t cash in. Overall, I thought we moved the ball well. We played really well defensively, didn’t give them any opportunities.
“In the second half, our first goal came off a corner kick in one of those scrums, and it found Stephen, who finished it for the goal. The second goal was just a great pass by David, who sent Dylan, who is a freshman, in on the goaltender, and he very calmly tucked it in to the side panel, which was a great goal for the kid.”
–Props: “Overall, I thought our defense with Jake Fallon, Dean Goodwin, Nick Indellicato and Dylan Choi played sensational. Also, Julian Shaw was part of the defensive back line, and Stphen Buczek was absolutely outstanding tonight. He was all over the field. He was a big player for us, winning all the head balls in the air, being involved and getting us in motion.”
Council Rock South assistant coach Zach Orenstein:
“Obviously, a tough result this evening, but tonight will be remembered fondly as we were able to celebrate our seniors. Thank you to our Booster Club and all of the parents who helped to make this night special.
“Most importantly, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to our senior class. We say it every year, but being able to welcome new freshman to our program and watch them grow and mature into great people over four years is truly very special. We are proud of each of you and know you will go on to do great things.
“To Nolan Graham, Stephen Murray, Noah Selekman, Greg Salvi, Rich Salvi, Jak Hasanov, AJ Renshall, Brady Stark, James Goddard, Shane McGovern, Vlad Psyuk, Declan Barry, and our manager Liam Briscoe: Thank you for everything. You’ve made us very proud.”

Souderton 4, Pennridge 0
Cole Manners scored three goals for Souderton, which took care of business on the road and finished off Pennridge by a 4-0 final on Tuesday night.
“Cole Manners with the hat trick tonight – he played well all over the field, but especially around goal,” said Indians coach Frank Demas.
Scoring:
Cole Manners (S)
Cole Manners (S) from Zyad Bouidi
Cole Manners (S) from Brayden Muller
Zyad Bouidi (S)
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
–The game: “Souderton’s first goal came from a free kick by Cole Manners. He hit it hard and it took a knock off the wall and went in the far post. Soon after, Zyad played a great ball to Cole in the box, who beat his defender and finished. Cole then completed the hat trick off a Brayden Muller assist. Brayden worked so hard and picked a ball on the end line, that he passed back perfectly for Cole to finish.
“Souderton’s fourth came from Zyad Bouidi, who was very good
in the middle all night. He won a ball and picked out a corner from outside the box.
–Props: “All around Souderton played a really strong game. We were good everywhere on the field tonight. Our defensive duo of (PJ) Sawicki and (Reese) Hoover were great again.
“Trevor (Alderfer) and Nolan (Felton) in goal with a shutout.
“Shoutouts to so many of guys, that we could list them all. We had some really unselfish play later in the game as well from AJ (Pisoni) and Quincey (Klimovich), who were really trying to move the ball around. Shoutout to our coaching staff, coach (Bill) Cush, especially, had them ready to play and prepared them well for the game tonight.”
Next up: Souderton (9-4-2, 4-2-2 SOL) hosts CB West on Thursday night. Pennridge (1-11-2, 0-7-1 SOL) plays at CB East on Thursday.

Central Bucks West 1, North Penn 0
A first-half goal by Zurah Lobzhanidze held up as CB West avenged a previous loss and blanked North Penn on Senior Night by a 1-0 final on Tuesday.
“Senior Night is always special, and tonight was no different,” said Bucks coach John Adair. “To recognize our 12 seniors, all with different roles, and all that have made massive contributions to better our program, is really important regardless of the outcome of the game. Tonight, it was a little bit sweeter to get the win.”
Scoring:
First Half –
Zurab Lobzhanidze (CBW) from Jan Lachacz, 13th minute
CB West coach John Adair:
“It was an important game for us this season as well. Last time we played them, they put five past us and we really struggled. Tonight, we defended much better and were able to keep a clean sheet. Everyone played a role in that as well, which as a coach is really enjoyable to see.
“Zurab was the one to get on the scoresheet, but Jan Lachacz was our ‘Man of the Match’ tonight. It genuinely could’ve been anyone on a night like tonight, but for everything he’s given us already this season and to add a lovely assist to make the difference tonight, I’m really happy for him.
“I could go on about how hard the boys worked tonight and they truly were relentless for all eighty minutes, but it was truly a great team performance and result.”
Next up: CB West (5-5-4, 3-3-2 SOL) plays at Souderton on Thursday night. North Penn (5-8-2 , 4-4 SOL) plays at CB South on Thursday.
North Penn 0 0 – 0
CB West 1 0 – 1

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2
The Titans traveled to Patriot Stadium for a divisional matchup between sister schools. CB South jumped out to an early lead and doubled the advantage before halftime. But the Patriots came roaring back in the second half, cutting the deficit to one. The teams traded goals from there, and the Titans held on for a hard-fought 3-2 victory to take all three points.
By the Numbers:
First Half
Ethan Smith (CBS)
Jackson Tait (CBS)
Second half
Gavin Reid (CBE)
Jonah Giglio (CBS)
Flavio Grimaldi (CBE) from Owen Hartman
Central Bucks South coach Ed Brnardic:
–The game: “Massive respect to CB East. They’ve dealt with some heartbreaking injuries this season, but their mentality continues to be next man up. On a beautiful night for soccer, two rivals played a highly competitive match, and the sportsmanship from both teams remained outstanding throughout. Credit to their coaches and players.
“We were excited to get on the board 10 minutes into the match as Ethan Smith found a loose ball in the box and pushed it past the diving keeper. David Steen of East made a tremendous effort to track it down and clear it off the line, but fortunately for us, the ball fell right back to Ethan, who buried the second chance with his left foot.
“Then, with 15 minutes remaining in the half, we doubled the lead. Jackson Tait instinctively found a pocket of space at the top of the 18, and when East cleared the ball, it fell directly to him. With beautiful technique, he drove his shot off the post and into the bottom-left corner. A true goal scorer’s goal.
“We took the most dangerous lead in soccer into halftime, and CB East quickly reminded us why 2-0 can be so dangerous. Less than three minutes into the second half, we conceded a free kick, then a corner, and ultimately a goal.
“Shortly afterward, East nearly found the equalizer on a long breakaway, but Alex Centafont raced back and denied the opportunity with a tremendous sliding challenge. That play seemed to energize our group. A few minutes later, Jonah Giglio picked off a clearance, used his first touch to move the ball onto his left foot, and calmly placed it into the bottom-left corner to restore our two-goal advantage.
Credit to CB East, who never stopped fighting and converted another corner to pull within one. From there, we were able to manage the closing minutes and see out an important victory.”
PROPS: “This one belongs to Ethan Smith and Jonah Giglio. Two players who moved from JV to Varsity this year. Two players who worked throughout the offseason. Two players who patiently waited for their opportunity. And on the same night, both scored their first varsity goals, both with their left foot. Sometimes opportunity doesn’t arrive when you want it. You just have to be ready when it does. Tonight, Ethan and Jonah were ready.”
UP NEXT: CB South hosts North Penn on Wednesday at 5:30 pm., and Central Bucks East is at Souderton Thursday (7pm).

The important second goal came from Jack Horan, who latched onto a ball from Braden Vorchheimer and finished past the UD keeper. In the final minute, Jack Horan scored his second goal of the game to seal the win with an assist by Malachi Hodges.”

With a pair of goals off of set pieces, one in each half, PW picked up a big league win on Senior Night, blanking Quakertown 2-0 at home on Tuesday.
The win snapped a 0-5-1 slide over the Colonials’ previous six games.
Scoring:
First Half –
Spencer Long (PW) from Dom Marcella, 36th minute
Second Half –
Kevin DiMarco (PW) from Dom Marcella, 60th minute
PW coach Toni Washington:
“Amazing team effort tonight to support and celebrate our seniors. Our defense looked pretty solid, and we controlled the midfield most of the game. Our two center backs, Kevin DiMarco and Spencer Long, stepped up big defensively and offensively as they were able to put two goals in the back of the net from set pieces from Dom Marcella. Beautiful one-time finishes to put us in the lead.
“Hoping to take this energy and physicality into our last two games of the regular season.”

Abington 5, Hatboro-Horsham 0
Abington defeated Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday night in Schwarzman Stadium in the Ghosts’ Senior Night contest. It was a convincing win for the Ghosts, who put up three goals in the first half and two in the second.
On a night that saw the seniors in the spotlight, senior captain Kyle Kretschman led the charge, finishing with a hat trick. Another highlight was senior Aidan Murry scoring his first varsity goal, and he also assisted on another. Senior Brennan Ewer put an exclamation point on the win when he turned senior Carter Shannon’s throw-in into the game’s final goal.
“After a stretch of recent results that the team has been mildly disappointed with as we are one of the teams that have ended up with a lot of ties this season following PIAA’s decision to remove overtime, this was a huge win for our team,” Abington coach Isaac Pitkow said. “With our star striker, Zak Yurchyshyn, recently being ruled out for the season with a torn ACL, we have been struggling to find an answer at striker to replace him.
“Kyle Kretschman showed us tonight that he is that answer. As a national All-American in his junior year, scoring 16 goals and also playing crucial minutes at center back, we went into this year with Kyle primarily playing center back. He is committed to West Chester University for soccer and has been recruited primarily as a defender, but he is clearly capable of playing in the attack as well. Kyle showed tonight just how valuable he can be on the field both at the heart of the defense and at the center of the attack.”
With a five-point lead over Wissahickon in the SOL Liberty Division standings and just two games remaining, the Ghosts can secure the division crown with a win over Upper Dublin in Thursday’s game.
Scoring
First half –
Kyle Kretschman from Jaza Vasquez (A)
Aidan Murray from Owen Gesing (A)
Kyle Kretschman (A)
Second half –
Kyle Kretschman from Aidan Murray (A)
Brennan Ewer from Carter Shannon (A)
Abington coach Isaac Pitkow:
–The goals: “The first goal was a header from Kretschman. Senior Jaza Vasquez collected the ball on the left wing and served a beautiful cross to the back post that Kretschman headed home for his first goal of the night.
“The second goal was scored by senior Aidan Murray. Aidan was a player who got tons of playing time for Senior Night and took the most of his opportunity. Owen Gesing collected the ball at the top of the box and created an opportunity for Aidan that he finished with his left foot to the bottom right corner with a great shot that surprised the goalkeeper. It was Aidan‘s first varsity goal of his career and a great moment for the team that pushed us forward to score the rest of the goals on the night.
“The third goal of the game came from Kretschman again. He collected the ball on the left wing and beat his defender 1v1. He had a classic striker’s finish from the left side of the box where he curled the ball into the far post with his right foot for the third goal of the game.
“The score was 3-0 at halftime, but we picked up right where we left off in the second half. Senior Aidan Murray got the ball short off a corner and played a beautiful cross into the box. Kyle Kretschman evaded his defender and headed it home to the bottom right corner to complete his hat trick and secure the win for the Ghosts.
“The last goal of the game came from senior Brennan Ewer. Senior Carter Shannon launched a long throw into the box as he so normally does for us, and Brennan had a great flick on past the keeper to the far post to score our fifth and final goal of the night.”
Up next: Abington will host Upper Dublin on Thursday, and Hatboro-Horsham will host Quakertown Wednesday (7pm).

Springfield coach Riley Woron:
“Same score line as the first meeting, but this one was a lot more of a battle. Very physical game which is often the case playing under the lights with the crowd creating an elevated atmosphere.
“Chris (Van Pelt) has got his guys playing tough and fighting for every 50/50. It was hard to find the space and move with purpose in the first half as they play a suffocating defense. We made some adjustments at half and upped the communication and started to find our rhythm.
“Very proud of our guys for matching their intensity while maintaining our composure to play our game. Always good to see some new names on the stat sheets as well.
“We have another tough battle this Thursday at Lower Moreland and anticipate another physical matchup.”
