SOL Liberty
Abington 7, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1
With another Liberty Division title secured, Abington was looking to lock down a high seed in the upcoming District One Class 4A playoffs, and did that with an emphatic 7-1 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh in the division finale on Wednesday afternoon.
Kyle Kretschman and Jaza Vasquez both had two goals for the Galloping Ghosts.
Scoring:
Abington – Kyle Kretschman 2, Jaza Vasquez 2, Owen Gesing 1, Aidan Murray 1, Kaleb Adams 1
Abington coach Isaac Pitcow:
“Today was a great win for us to close out the season. Our senior captains Kyle Kretschman and Jaza Vasquez both had two goals each and were exceptional in attack.
“We also had a beautiful goal scored by senior captain Owen Gesing. The other two goals were scored by senior Aidan Murray and junior Kaleb Adams.
“We had strong play in defense from senior captain Sean Westmoreland and senior Carter Shannon.
“The team is looking good going into district playoffs next week. We are very excited to see what we can do this year.”Next up: Abington (12-1-5, 9-0-1 SOL) likely secured a top four seed and a first round bye for the upcoming District One Class 4A Tournament, meaning the Ghosts would next host a second-round game on Thursday, Oct. 29.
PW finished its season with a 4-9-4 record (3-4-3 SOL).
Hatboro-Horsham 3, Upper Dublin 3
A wild second half concluded with a wild ending, as Hatboro-Horsham and Upper Dublin played to a 3-3 tie on Wednesday afternoon.
The teams combined for six goals – all in the second half. And after the Hatters went up 3-2 with a penalty kick by Finn Marsden in the 76th minute, UD came back and tied it just as time expired after a corner kick that went off the post and in.
Scoring:
Second Half –
UD goal, 41st minute
Dylan Orloski (HH), 43rd minute
Dylan Orloski (HH), 47th minute
UD goal, 57th minute
Finn Marsden (HH) penalty kick, 76th minute
UD goal, 80th minute
HH coach Kyle McGrath:
“We ended up tying UD in what was certainly an interesting game this afternoon. Two years in a row now we’ve finished the season with a crazy game. The score was 0-0 at half and the first half was pretty uninspiring.
“We fell behind quickly in the second half after UD scored 25 seconds in. We responded very well with two goals from Dylan Orloski within a four-minute period to go ahead 2-1 by the 47th minute.
“UD tied it after a miscue in the back with 23 minutes left in the game. We took the lead in the 76th minute after Lucas Rodriguez played a great ball across the box and Dylan was fouled from behind before being able to tap in a goal. Finn Marsden stepped up and converted the penalty kick to give us the lead.
“Unfortunately, we conceded a very questionable goal as time expired off of a corner kick. The ball hit the post as the horn blew and the goal was awarded. I have never been someone who publicly criticizes our officials, but I think both coaches were unhappy with how the game unraveled in the second half. There were numerous cards given for reasons unknown for both teams and several stoppages with no explanations.”
Next up: Upper Dublin (5-10-2, 3-6-1 SOL) entered Wednesday in the No. 7 position in the eight-team Class 3A district tournament and will likely be on the road for a first-round game on Wednesday, Oct. 28. H-H finishes its season with a 6-9-3 record (3-5-2 SOL).
Upper Dublin 0 3 – 3
H-H 0 3 – 3
Wissahickon 4, Quakertown 1
Wissahickon, playing as well as any team in the SOL and likely all of District One, finished off Quakertown and its regular season in style Wednesday night, with a 4-1 win on the road.
The Trojans won their final eight games of the season after a tie with Abington on Sept. 24. They haven’t lost a game since back-to-back losses to division winners Springfield Twp and Abington on Aug. 31 and Sept. 2.
Braden Vorchheimer, Jack Horan and Luke Frankenfield scored goals for Wissahickon on Wednesday.
Scoring:
First Half –
Braden Vorchheimer (W), 21st minute
Jack Horan (W), 32nd minute
Second Half –
Own goal (W), 53rd minute
Luke Frankenfield (W), 73rd minute
Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm:
“We finished our regular season with a solid performance. We created several chances before Braden Vorchheimer broke the deadlock with a crisp finish from about 14 yards. This was followed by a solid header from Jack Horan with a great assist from Malachi Hodges.
“Quakertown pulled a goal back before half time from a corner. Elijah Calpas restored the two-goal lead with a fine run and cross from the end line that was unfortunately turned in by a Quakertown player. The scoring was completed by Luke Frankenfield who had a terrific shot from about 20 yards.”
Next up: Wissahickon (14-2-2, 7-1-2 SOL) will host a District One Class 4A playoff game next Tuesday.
Quakertown finished its season with a final record of 4-9-3 (0-8-2 SOL).
Wissahickon 2 2 – 4
Quakertown 1 0 – 1
SOL Freedom
William Tennent 2, Lower Moreland 2
A couple of early goals put Tennent in front in this one, but Lower Moreland came storming back, and the two teams earned a 2-2 tie to close out regular season play in the Freedom Division.
Jackson Zahor and Leon Lembursky scored goals for the Panthers.
Scoring:
Jackson Zahor (WT) from Chase Chriss
Leon Lembersky (WT) from Nick Lepouski
LM goal
LM goal
Tennent coach Nick D’Andrea:
“Jackson Zahor scored on a quick restart for us early in the game off a nice Chase Criss assist. We scored on a head ball goal by Leon Lembersky off a cross by Nick Lepouski to make it 2-0.
“Then, Lower Moreland, who outplayed us the whole game, scored a brilliant goal by No. 10, who hit a screamer upper 90. Then they scored on a long rebound following up a shot to make it 2-2.
“It was a good game. The Lower Moreland boys knocked the ball around really well today and were dangerous. They will be tough to beat in their playoff, and we wish them good luck.
“This tie helped us clinch second place in our division, so we are happy with that result.”
Next up: Both teams move on to the District One playoffs. In Class 4A, William Tennent (11-5-1, 6-3-1 SOL) entered the day unofficially at No. 21 and is likely looking at a first round road game on Tuesday. First, the Panthers will play a non-league tuneup game Thursday against MaST Charter.
Lower Moreland (6-5-6, 5-3-2 SOL) started as No. 5 in Class 3A and if that position holds will have a first-round road game on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Lower Moreland 2
William Tennent 2
Springfield Twp 4, Upper Moreland 0
With its 4-0 shutout win over Upper Moreland on Wednesday night, Springfield, the Freedom Division champions again this season, secured a perfect 10-0 regular season in the division and head into the district playoffs having won four straight games and six of its last seven.
The Spartans did all of their damage after the intermission, erupting for four goals in a 12-minute span. Brendan Noonan for the ball rolling with a goal in the 50th minute, and five minutes later, Eden Ha scored, and then the Spartans benefitted from an own goal. Jack McCleary’s penalty kick gave the Spartans their final margin of victory.
Scoring:
First half –
No score
Second half:
Brendan Noonan assisted by Adam DiBattista (S) 50th minute
Own Goal – Joe Latawiec assist (S) 55th minute
Eden Ha assisted by Matt Grabus assist, 56th minute
Jack McCleary PK 62nd minute
Springfield Twp coach Riley Woron:
“A great win against a well-coached team to cap off the regular season. Our final home game of the season is always Senior Night, and both teams brought the intensity tonight.
“After a well-fought first half ended 0-0, both sides probably felt they could’ve gotten on the scoreboard. The seniors stepped up on their night and took care of business in the second half.
“Extremely proud that the boys finished division play 10-0. Not an easy feat against the teams and coaches we play. We’ll look to see where we land for playoff seeding and will focus on one game at a time.”
Next up: Springfield (15-3, 10-0 SOL) will likely end up with the No. 2 or 3 seed in the Class 3A district tournament and host a first-round game on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Upper Moreland finished its season with a 4-12-2 record (2-8 SOL)
SOL Colonial
Souderton 1, North Penn 0
Zyad Boudi scored the game-winner, as Souderton wrapped up the division regular season and a berth in the district playoffs with a 1-0 win over rival North Penn and also secured second place in the Colonial Division outright.
“In a must win game, with some guys sick and injured, the boys came out and got it done,” said Indians coach Frank Demas. “Slow start in the first 10 minutes, but then we calmed down and played a solid rest of the game.”
Scoring:
Zyad Boudi (S) from Freddy Villatoro
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
“(The game’s only) goal came when Owen Alderfer won a loose ball and found a pass to Freddy outside the box, Zyad made a great overlapping run. Freddy slotted the ball to Zyad who calmly finished off an incredibly important goal for Souderton.
“Our defense was really on it today. Hoover and Sawicki were so solid. So many guys tracking back to pick up loose balls and support the middle. The midfields of both teams were in a tough battle all game long.”
–Props: “Shoutout to Freddy (Villatoro) today. He’s probably been playing a little out of his best position all year. But no matter what or where we put him, he does a selfless job for the team. A great assist tonight, but his all-around play in the second half (especially late) was great.
“These are tough and very close games, between two good teams. We could probably shout out everyone who played today. These games require every guy from Souderton working hard and playing well. Which they did today.”
Next up: Souderton (11-5-2, 5-3-2 SOL), which went into the day in the No. 24 position for the district playoffs, has a final tuneup for the postseason Thursday at home against Haverford.
North Penn (5-11-2, 4-6 SOL) wraps up its season at home Friday with a non-league game against Class 2A power Faith Christian.
North Penn 0
Souderton 1
Central Bucks East 1, Central Bucks West 1
Just like the first time these two rivals played, Wednesday night’s league finale ended in a tie, as the two evenly-matched squads scored second-half goals two minutes apart in one ended up with a 1-1 final score.
Both teams finished with identical 4-3-3 records in the league too.
Scoring:
Second Half –
Flavio Grimaldi (CBE) from Austin Stone, 74th minute
Beck Walton (CBW), 76th minute
CB East coach Josh Isaacsohn:
“Tonight was our Kick ALS event, and I just want to reach out and thank everyone who volunteered and raised money. It’s something near and dear to our heart, remembering our good friend Brian Rosiek, who was a huge soccer guy and just a great coach, a great mentor and teacher and friend. He’s the reason we do this game, and he fought the disease for years. We lost him in March. This was our fourth year doing the event and the first year where he wasn’t here in person to witness it. But all the money goes directly to the small but very tight community of ALS. Thank you to West and to all the parents and everyone who helped with that.”
–The Game: “Ultimate respect to coach John Adair and their coaching staff. They really just put together a good team, and it was a great, beautiful night of soccer and a crosstown rivalry for what could potentially affect district playoffs very strongly.
“First half, both teams kind of went at it. I thought maybe we had better of the ball. They did have very many chances on goal. We had a few but nothing too solid.
“In the second half, we tried to switch things up a little bit for the first 10-12 minutes, and to the boys’ credit, it wasn’t working and they switched back, and we were at them.
“Then on a great individual play after an assist by Austin Stone and a great individual effort by Flavio Grimaldi. He beat the last defender and put the ball in with about six-and-a-half minutes left in the game
“I kind of think our players and maybe people watching the game sort of felt like we won already, and it’s very dangerous in soccer to start to be a little bit comfortable, and we had a bit of a letup. Within two minutes, unfortunately, there was a handball called, and they served it in and flicked the ball in and scored, and it ended up being 1-1. It was just a hard-fought crosstown rivalry.”
–Props: “Flavio Grimaldi up top really just works his tail off, and besides that, just the team all around. It’s been a very spirited, great group of kids that are very coachable, and now we just have to see where the cards fall.”
CB West coach John Adair:
“Just a really hard-fought rivalry game. Credit to East as they brought a lot of energy particularly in the first half and we took a while to get going. It was one of those days where we were just a bit loose with the ball, our touches were a bit off, and our legs were a bit heavy. It’s a difficult game to end the season with, but we couldn’t have asked for a better test and environment heading into playoffs.
“Obviously, Beck got the goal tonight, and he led the line really well again, especially in the second half where we showed a few more positive signs going forward and being aggressive in and out of possession. It’s a game that we weren’t at our best on the ball, but Paolo Leiva showed us again that he doesn’t need much to make the difference with a great set piece delivery on the goal.
“Our back line was solid once again, and Vlad Trusevich probably had one of his better games all season back there. He’s really developed over the course of the season into a really steady and consistent piece during this great stretch to end the regular season.
“While it would’ve obviously been great to go into playoffs winning seven in a row, this may be somewhat of a blessing in disguise as a lesson to our group. I’m so proud of them for the character they’ve shown this season. To start the season 2-6-3 and to climb their way back into the playoffs is really special.”
Next up: CB East (6-5-6, 4-3-3 SOL) and CB West (8-6-4, 4-3-3 SOL) should both be headed to the district playoffs, likely on the road, starting on Tuesday
Central Bucks West 0 1 – 1
Central Bucks East 0 1 – 1
Central Bucks South 5, Pennridge 0
The Rams hosted the Titans on Pennridge’s Senior Night, and it was the Titans who jumped to a quick 2-0 lead with goals in the first and fourth minute. A third goal late in the half gave the Titans a comfortable three-goal lead at halftime, and they scored twice more in the second.
Jackson Tait scored twice for the Titans, breaking his own single-season scoring record with 21 goals.
Scoring:
First Half –
Jackson Tait (CBS)
Ryan Burke (CBS) from Jackson Tait
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Jaxon Sauder
Second Half –
Sebastian Sicard (CBS)
Nate Vollman (CBS) from Jaxon Sauder
CB South coach Ed Brnardic:
“It was Pennridge’s Senior Night, but in a really nice gesture, they kicked off the festivities by recognizing our seniors as well. We truly appreciated the gesture. It’s been a tough run for Pennridge the last few years, but you can already see first-year head coach Alan O’Mara beginning to build a strong foundation there.
“We wanted to start the game quickly, and we did just that with early goals from Jackson Tait and Ryan Burke.
“Then, with seven minutes left in the first half, we had a special moment. We played a nice long ball out of the back to Jackson, who brought it down cleanly on the one-hop and found Jaxon Sauder. Sauder immediately played a beautiful one-time, left-footed volley over the back line and into the path of a hard-charging Jackson. He finished it into the net for his 21st goal of the season, breaking the CB South regular-season scoring record of 20, previously shared by Anthony Bice and Jackson himself from last season. A great moment and a tremendous accomplishment.
“In the second half, Sebastian Sicard joined the scoring, picking up a loose ball, cutting inside at the top of the box, and finishing for his first varsity goal. Then, with two minutes remaining, a Jaxon Sauder cross found sophomore Nate Vollman at the back post, and Nate’s first-time finish found the back of the net.
“There must be something new in the water at South, because we’re finally starting to spread the scoring around. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had a number of different players getting in on the goals, which is great to see.”
– Props: Jaxon (Sauder) was an absolute horse tonight, working up and down the wing all game and making a big impact on the scoresheet. His one-time volley set up Jackson Tait’s record-breaking goal, and later he delivered a great cross to Nate Vollman for the final goal.
“Logan (Sullivan) brought his usual consistency to our back line, helping preserve the shutout while also getting involved in the attack with several dangerous balls forward. Another really solid two-way performance from him.”
Next up: Colonial Division champ CB South (9-2-7, 8-1-1 SOL) unofficially sits at the No. 9 spot in the district power rankings and will host a first-round playoff game on Tuesday.
CB South 3 2 – 5
Pennridge 0 0 – 0
SOL Patriot
Council Rock North 3, Pennsbury 0
For the second time this season, CR North got the better of the division champs, defeating Pennsbury by a 3-0 score in the final game of the regular season for both teams.
With the win, the Indians likely vaulted over the Falcons in the District One Class 4A power rankings. Unofficially, CR North sits at No. 6 and Pennsbury No. 8 after Wednesday.
Scoring:
First Half –
Tej Patel (CRN) from Shane Murphy, 7th minute
Max Henry (CRN) from Ben Pucaro, 30th minute
Second Half –
Will Loudon (CRN) from Andrew Foulke, 60th minute
CR North assistant coach Brian Hoffman:
–The goals: “We scored first in the seventh minute. It was Tej Patel from Shane Murphy. It was a six-yard kick. Shane won the head ball and just flicked it on. It bounced once or twice, I think Tej got a touch on it and then volleyed it with his left foot top shelf. That was very nice.
“Second goal was Max Henry from Ben Pucaro. Ben Pucaro made a run down the right side of the field where every single touch was just enough to put him in a dangerous spot with the next, and he just kept winning ball after ball, and then he slotted it across for Max Henry, who was left basically unmarked on the far post, and he just took the net off. In the second half, we had a goal from Will Loudon assisted by Andrew Foulke.”
–The game: “We controlled play. It was much like the first time we played them. They pretty much just conceded the midfield to us, and that allowed some of our better players just to create really good passing lanes and opportunities for us to go to goal.”
–Props: “Tej Petel, even on that third goal, it was just a workhorse goal because their center back had it, and Tej Petel basically dispossessed him into the corner and then beat him along the end line and played it across to Andrew Foulke, who saw there was just too much traffic in front of him, and he just kept the ball swinging around until Will Loudon had a left-footed shot from maybe 16-18 out.
“Again, it was just great team play, very unselfish. Shane Murphy played phenomenally in the midfield – so much poise for a freshman playing such a key position. His brother in the back – we had a couple guys that picked up some injuries, and Chase (Murphy) playing center back just really remained calm even in difficult, stressful situations.”
Next up: CR North (10-2-5, 5-1-4 SOL) and Pennsbury (11-4-2, 7-2-1 SOL) should both ended up hosting first round playoff games on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
CR North 2 1 – 3
Pennsbury 0 0 – 0
Council Rock South 2, Bensalem 1
Stephen Murray’s second half goal was the difference, as CR South avenged a previous loss to Bensalem and closed out its Patriot Division in style by a 2-1 score on Wednesday night.
“Tonight was a pretty special night,” said Golden Hawks assistant coach Zach Orenstein. “Bensalem took it to us the first time around, so to be able to put up a result tonight and play the way we played says a lot about the team and their maturity. The energy, the passion, the commitment, all of it exceeded expectations.
“The atmosphere at South was pretty potent; the crowd was our 12th man today. It was a great game. Bensalem has a nice team, and we wish them the best in playoffs.”
Scoring:
First Half –
Brian Hyams (CRS) from Stephen Murray
Chase Esposito (B), penalty kick
Second Half –
Stephen Murray (CRS) from Joe McGovern
CR South assistant coach Zach Orenstein:
“We had a lot of chances to score, and while we only had two, we defended well and kept everything in check. Everything clicked. Brian Hyams scored off a break from Stephen Murray and Stephen came through with the winner in the second half on a low driven ball from Joe McGovern.
“We finished the game with our seniors on the field together. It’s tough to say what will happen with results around the district, but I am proud of the way we finished the season to get into the mix. There’s nothing we can do now but watch the results and let the chips fall where they may. We would love the chance to go again, but if not, it was a special way to close the season with our heads held high. Without a doubt this team had made their coaches, their families, and their school very proud.”
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
“I felt like it would be a difficult night for us as it was going to be tough to match the intensity and emotion from our Senior Night game this past Monday. That came to be true as it took us a while to settle in, while CR South came out with a lot of intensity.
“CR South scored first, but we were able to tie things up on a Chase Esposito penalty shot before the half. The goal was Chase’s 33rd on the season. The second half was more of the same. I thought we played well but lost our composure in spots and CR South was able to take advantage. Alan (Nicholl) did a good job having his boys ready for this game.
“We finished the season 11-4-3. This has been the best season for Bensalem boys’ soccer in at least seven years, and I’m very proud of the work the boys have put in this season and what they have accomplished. Looking forward to a playoff appearance and I’m excited to see what we can do.”
Next up: CR South concludes the regular season with a 7-9-2 record (3-5-2 SOL). It entered the night at No. 32 in the district power rankings for a 28-team playoffs. It will see if it climbed back into the field in the coming days before the seedings are announced.
Bensalem (11-4-3, 4-4-2 SOL), No. 16 in the district power rankings unofficially, will await to find out its Tuesday first-round opponent.
CR South 1 1 – 2

On Senior Night, a lot of seniors got in on the action, as a balanced effort dominated visiting Harry S. Truman on the way to the 8-1 win on Wednesday.
Six different players scored goals, led by Zach Hargraves and Gorgi Enukitze with two each.
Scoring:
First Half –
Monty Jawawdeh (N) from Nick Indellicato, 8th minute
Zach Hargraves (N) from Monty Jawawdeh, 10th minute
Joel Mendez (N) from Gorgi Enukitze, 22nd minute
Gorgi Enukitze (N) from David Lopez, 25th minute
Joel Mendez (N), 32nd minute
Gorgi Enukitze (N)
Second Half –
Zach Hargraves (N), 49th minute
Truman goal, 60th minute
Christos Vasilarakis (N), 72nd minute
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
“All our seniors played quite a bit tonight and did a nice job putting a team away. A couple of our starters didn’t play very much at all tonight. They are underclassmen, and they were fully accepting of not playing today because it was Senior Night. The seniors all did a nice job.
“I would like to give my senior captains – Stephen Buczek and Jake Fallon – props for sacrificing starting tonight, so their fellow seniors could start. It shows remarkable leadership and class.
“They really enjoyed themselves, and we’re really starting to play quite well, which is good because we’re getting ready for the playoffs. So, we’re looking forward to see what happens next week. Hopefully, we’ll manage to secure a home game with our win and looking forward to seeing who were playing in the playoffs.”
Next up: Neshaminy (9-3-7, 4-2-4 SOL) is off until the first round of the district tournament, as it entered Wednesday in the No. 16 position and could end up hosting a game.
Truman (3-13-1, 0-9-1 SOL) has a pair of scheduled non-league games to conclude its season to close out the week, Thursday at home against Pennridge and then Friday at Academy Park.

Non-league
Council Rock South 3, Garnet Valley 2
The Golden Hawks notched a hard-fought non-league win over the visiting Jaguars. Fabio Nilli broke a 2-2 tie with a late goal to propel the Hawks to the win.
Stephen Murray scored the first two Rock South goals – the first with a Michael Elko assist and the second with an assist from Brian Hyams.
Scoring summary
First half –
Stephen Murray from Michael Elko (CRS)
Second half –
GV goal
Stephen Murray from Brian Hyams (CRS)
GV Goal
Fabio Nilli from Jake Sadkhin (CRS)
Council Rock South assistant coach Zach Orenstein:
–The game: “It was a good win today in a physical and emotional tilt. Credit to Garnet Valley. They are a hardworking side who had the better of play for long spells.
“I thought we were unlucky to only score one in the first half. We had a few very good opportunities in behind their back line that we didn’t connect on. We controlled play for most of the opening 40. Our goal came from Stephen Murray, beating his defender and hitting a shot from 20 out just under the crossbar.
“The second half was a flipped script. Garnet Valley took up the tempo and physicality, tied it up, and had their foot on the gas. We had a break in their momentum when they had a player sent off. We scored moments later on a nice play from Hyams to Murray. Although down to 10 men, they tied it up on a ball brought across the box.
“I’d like to credit our team maturity to stay with it today. We were on the wrong end of some physical battles and momentum swings in the game. Things were hectic for a while. We took the lead with three minutes to go on a Fabio Nilli goal, flicked on by Jake Sadkhin.”
–Props: “It was cool to see Fabio get one there. He is such a hardworking player so for him to get that big goal meant a lot to the team. Nolan Graham, Dylan Friedfeld, Matthew Orsini, Rich Salvi, Greg Salvi, and Carson Wade each gave us valuable minutes in the back. They withstood a lot of pressure and needed to make a ton of brave challenges. I thought Madden Burns and Michael Elko we’re dangerous today.
“We have Bensalem at home tomorrow evening. Coming off an exciting match, I think the team is feeling confident as we go for our second win in as many days.”
