Hajdak, who had the starting nod and threw the first four innings, Thomas Puerzer and Christian Sinopoli combined to allow six hits in strong stints on the mound.

Wisahickon coach Any Noga on the game: “We were really excited to get out in the beautiful Florida sunshine for game one today. We have a very young lineup, and tons of familiar faces in new positions and new roles for us, so we were eager to see how everything looked put together, and we were pleasantly surprised and excited with the result.”
–Props: “We turned to our rock, Adam Hajdak, on the bump. I thought he did a great job attacking hitters with multiple pitches and working his way out of any situation he finds himself in. Then he capped the game off with the leadoff double in the eighth inning that turned out to be the game-winning run.
“Thomas Puerzer and Christopher Sinopoli followed up with huge shutdown innings to give us a chance to win the game in the eighth.
“I’m extremely proud of Jack Weiss not just for his walk-off hit, but more for how he responded after a few shaky plays in the field early in the game. To be a sophomore starting his first varsity game and be able to take a breath, refocus and recompose himself and come through in a big spot is a testament to the character he has and the culture upperclassmen like Mark Selverian have created in the program.”
Up next: Wissahickon (1-0) will face Franklin Regional on Sunday (1 pm).

“Our offense was certainly very good today. But most important was the approach and the ability to stay on the ball and in the middle of the field
“We have a lot of innings to play before the league opener. Today was, in its own way, just part of that big picture process of readying for league play.”
–Lugara in command: “Lugara was very sharp in his four innings. Getting those up-downs and getting all his pitches working is a big priority this time of year and he did that very well, and we played clean defense along the way.
