Non-league
NORTH PENN 4, WEST MIFFLIN 3
The Knights wrapped up a successful spring break trip to Florida with their second non-league win in as many days, but this one was a whole lot more dramatic than Saturday’s 24-0 mercy rule rout.
North Penn – which earlier rallied from a 2-0 deficit – took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning only to see West Mifflin rally to knot the score in the top of the inning.
The Knights had an answer in the bottom of the inning, notching the walk-off win when Logan Waynick lined a one-out RBI double to left field that plated Matt Pownall, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
By the numbers: Logan Waynick (2-for-3, 2B, RBI), Christian Barnes (2-for-3, 2RBIs, 1R)
Brighton Fontaine (4.0 IP, 3H 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 2K), Jake Nunn (WP) (3H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 4K)
