Check out the recaps for SOL baseball teams in action Friday.
Non-league
PENNSBURY 4, PITTSBURGH CENTRAL CATHOLIC 0
As season openers go, it was a good one for the Falcons, who upended the Western Pennsylvania 6A power.
Kayden Faulcon and Aiden Kenney combined for a three-hit shutout that was highlighted by 14 strikeouts. Faulcon received the starting nod and allowed two hits in four shutout innings. He struck eight and walked a pair. Kenney, a sophomore, closed it out, allowing one hit while striking out six and walking one in three shutout innings.
“It was a really solid team win where we never really felt a threat,” Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci said. “Kayden was lights out with his fast ball, and Kenney was mixing his fast ball and slider.
“Faulcon struck out the side in the fourth, and Kenney followed, striking out the side in the fifth.”
The Falcons put a run on the board in the top of the first. James Schaffer grounded a single to left to lead off the game, and one out later, he scored when Joe Tiroly lined an RBI double to left field.
In the second inning, Pennsbury added a pair of runs. Sam Labrecque singled to lead off the inning, and he scored when Tyler Boraski lined a triple to right field. Ryan Zuckerman drove in the second run with a clutch two-out single.
That 3-0 lead stood until the fifth inning when Tiroly lined a home run to left to lead off the frame.
Tiroly (2-for-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBIs, R) and Labrecque (2-for-3, 3B, R) led the Falcons’ seven-hit attack.
“We had good at-bats all around versus the Mississippi State commit,” Pesci said of pitcher Cade Oleary, one of four D1 recruits on Central Catholic’s squad.
Pennsbury (1-0) will play its second game at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach on Saturday.

WILLIAM PENN CHARTER 6, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
The Patriots scored a first inning run, but Penn Charter answered with two in the second and four more in the fifth on its way to the non-league win.
In the top of the first, Chase Harlan lined a two-out single to right field, and he scored when Joey Wilga roped a triple to center field. The Patriots managed just one hit the rest of the way off a quartet of Penn Charter hurlers.
Four pitchers also saw action for the Patriots. Harlan closed out the game with a scoreless sixth, striking out all three batters he faced.
Central Bucks East (0-2) will open its SOL season Tuesday at Central Bucks West.
