The Golden Hawks rebounded from a disappointing loss to Abington 24 hours earlier to earn the win in Friday’s battle of neighboring rivals.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, benefitting from an error and a two-out RBI single by Tyler Nowmos. A solo blast with two outs in the fifth by Brandon McIlwain put the Indians on top 2-0, but not for long.
In the bottom of the inning, Sean Lowney got the ball rolling with a one-out single, and a hit batsman put a pair on board. The bases were loaded when Shaun Stackhouse was safe on an error, setting the stage for a two-run double by Dean Obarowski. Two more runs crossed the plate on Nick Ponente’s single, and the Hawks – who collected three of their four hits for the game in the inning – led 4-2.
Matt Hand, who allowed four hits and three earned runs, absorbed the loss. Noah Hartwell threw a scoreless inning in relief for the Indians.
For the Golden Hawks, Josh Blaustein started and threw 4.2 innings, scattering five hits and allowing two runs (one earned). Jordan Silverman did not allow a hit in three scoreless inning of relief, fanning three.
The Golden Hawks are 2-3 in the league (2-4 overall), and the Indians are 2-2 in league play (2-4 overall).

WISSAHICKON 5, PENNSBURY 2
The Trojans keep finding ways to win, once again using what is rapidly becoming a patented late-inning rally to down the Falcons.
It was a 2-2 game heading into the top of the seventh. Leadoff batter Blake Rapoport was safe on an error to open the inning, and he moved up to second on a sacrifice, setting the stage for back-to-back walks to load the bases with one out. Julian Osterneck brought two runs in with a single, and another crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice to put the Trojans on top 5-2.
Osterneck allowed a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh but closed it out with a pair of groundouts to earn the win. He allowed two hits and one run (unearned) in two innings, fanning one and walking one. Joseph McGlade threw the first five innings, allowing four hits and one run while walking none and striking out three.
The Falcons used four pitchers, who combined to allow six hits and five runs (only two earned).
Offensively, the Trojans were led by the two-hit performances of Nicholas Falso and Osterneck. No Falcon had more than one hit.
Wissahickon upped its record to 4-0 overall (3-1 SOL) while the Falcons are 5-2 overall (3-1 SOL).
