Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 6, DOWNINGTOWN EAST 0
Pitching stole the spotlight in Friday’s non-league game.
The visiting Titans rode the strong showings of three pitchers – Brett Barrett, Eli Geackel and Bryce Bell – to the shutout win.
“Brett Barrett did a great job in a spot start today for us,” South coach Kevin Bray said. “He threw four really strong innings, gave up one hit and struck out four. He really set the tone early for us on the mound and defensively.
“Eli Greackel, a senior, came in for two clean innings as well, and Bryce Bell closed it out in the seventh.”
The trio combined to allow just two hits. Greackel, who struck out two and walked one, did not allow a hit in his two-inning stint. Bell allowed a one-out single in the seventh and struck out two in his one inning to close it out.
“We use our non-league games to be as productive as we can be,” Bray said. “We want guys to get reps. They’re important innings regardless of who we play.
“Especially in a young guy’s situation. We had a couple of sophomores in the lineup with Owen Pinkerton and Jake Yang, so those guys got good reps. We were just happy that it was a good day out there. We played an opponent in Downingtown East that always has a good club.”
The Titans put two runs on the board in the first, benefitting from two walks and an error as well as a two-out RBI single by Braeden Black.
In the second, the Titans manufactured a run when Pinkerton drew a leadoff walk, stole second, moved up on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tommy Donnelly.
The Titans added a pair of runs in the third inning. With one out, Owen Wheeler drew a walk, and he scored when Black roped a triple to deep right field. Black scored on a groundout by Connor Wojciechowski.
Black was 2-for-3 with a triple – collecting the only two hits the Titans managed for the game. He also had two RBIs and a run scored.
“He’s been battling a shoulder issue, so he hasn’t really gotten the opportunity to play much so far, so this was a game we definitely wanted to get him at-bats, and he performed up to expectations,” Bray said. “He had a triple that nearly went out of the park. He was productive as well for us.
“It was a good day for us across the board. We were productive in our opportunities. We use this to build some confidence and go into next week with three league games.”
Central Bucks South (2-4, 1-3 SOL) will travel to Pennridge Monday for a 6 p.m. contest.

WILLIAM TENNENT 7, CONWELL-EGAN 2
The Panthers put four runs on the board in the bottom of the first, and Danny Scheller – the first of three Tennent pitchers to see action – threw 4.2 shutout innings, effectively setting the tone in Friday’s non-league win.
“It was a good game after a tough week,” Tennent coach Lucas Denzi said. “Senior Danny Scheller led the way with a solid performance on the mound, and the boys played well behind him.
“Being a non-league game, we called on some different guys and they responded great. Hopefully, we can carry the momentum into next week as we head into the crossover games.”
Jordani Tiburcio and Tim Lawson drew back-to-back walks to lead off the bottom of the first, and Julio Ybarra followed with an RBI single. Evan Devor delivered the big blow in the inning – a two-run triple to right. Scheller helped his own cause with an RBI double to left, and the Panthers led 4-0.
The Panthers upped their lead to 6-0 with two more runs in the fourth. The inning was highlighted by a leadoff double from Tiburcio as well as singles by Lawson and Mike Woehr (RBI). They added a run in the fifth when Connor Servis, who singled with one out, scored on a double by Tiburcio.
The visiting Eagles scored a pair in the sixth, but it was too little too late.
Tiburcio had a big game out of the leadoff spot, finishing 2-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Lawson was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored, and Devor was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.
Scheller allowed five hits in 4.2 shutout innings, striking out one and walking one. Nate Scotese did not allow a hit in a scoreless inning in relief, striking out one.
William Tennent (1-3, 2-4 SOL) will host Lower Moreland on Monday.

BENSALEM 10, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 2
One day after picking up their first win of the season, the Owls travelled to LC and – behind the strong showing of James McGinty – picked up their second win in as many days.
McGinty allowed just four hits and two runs in the complete game win while striking out six and walking three.
“It was a great pitching performance by Jim McGinty,” Bensalem coach Kurt Sowa said. “He threw a complete game, attacked the hitters and let the fielders make the plays behind him.”
The Owls broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. With one out, Nate Rubin and Mike Kramer hit back-to-backs singles. A two-out walk to Kaden Lavendar loaded the bases.
Rubin scored the go-ahead run on a steal of home, and Daniel McShane’s two-run double to center put the Owls on top 4-1. LC got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning, but the Owls answered with two runs in the top of the fifth, thanks to RBI singles by Nate Rubin and Kramer.
Kyle Rubin’s booming three-run triple in the sixth made it a 9-2 game, and in the seventh, Anthony Labate’s RBI single closed out the scoring.
Kyle Rubin (2-for-4, 3B, 3 RBIs, 1R), Nate Rubin (2-for-4, SB, RBI, 1R) and Kramer (2-for-3, RBI, 1R) contributed multi-hit games.
Bensalem (2-5, 1-4 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy on Monday.
