Non-league
BENSALEM 2, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
The Owls and Panthers put on a superb display of baseball in Saturday’s non-league game at Arm and Hammer Park, home of the Trenton Thunder. The Owls used a two-run sixth to erase a 1-0 Tennent lead and then held on for the win.
“It was a good game, a fun game,” Bensalem coach Harry Daut said. “Tennent was good, and it was a very competitive game.”
The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the third inning. Josh Nydick drew a two-out walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. DJ Dickson’s single to center plated Nydick for a 1-0 lead that stood until the sixth.
Sean Nelson was hit by a pitch to open the sixth inning, and Dan McShane followed with a single. A walk to Greg Phelan loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly to center by Nick Nush plated a run, and then it was Logan Young hitting a sacrifice fly to left, plating the second run that turned out to be the game-winner.
Four Bensalem pitchers combined for the win. Logan Young started and threw 2.1 shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out six and walking two. Kyle Rubin threw 1.2 innings, allowing two hits and one run (unearned) while striking out three and walking two. Nelson, who earned the win, allowed two hits in two scoreless innings. He struck out two and walked two. Ryan McLaughlin closed it out and did not allow a hit in one scoreless inning, striking out one.
“We were going to give all of them a couple of innings,” Daut said. “They all did a pretty good job.
“You want the kids to go out and try to win, but it was more or less to get all those pitchers who haven’t been pitching a lot some pitching time.”
The Owls’ coach credited first baseman Tyler Fischer for delivering the defensive plays of the game.
“He made two really great plays at first base that really won us the game,” Daut said. “He made a great catch of a high pop going down the right field line, and then he made another really good play at first base on a ground ball. If he doesn’t make those two plays, we lose the game. He even had a hit. He’s my one star, two star, three star guy.”
Bensalem’s Ryan Rooney was the only player on either side with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-2 with a double. Phelan also had a double for the Owls.
For the Panthers, Mike Solits started and threw 4.2 shutout innings. He allowed six hits. Kyle Bussinger did not allow a hit in a scoreless inning to close out the game.
Bensalem (7-0, 3-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks West Monday, and William Tennent (4-5-1, 4-1) will host Quakertown in a crossover game Monday.

NESHAMINY 11, FRIENDS CENTRAL 9
The Redskins pounded out 12 hits and erupted for four runs in the first and five more in the third on their way to the non-league win.
“It was nice to see our bats come alive today and put up multiple runs,” Neshaminy coach Dan Toner said. “Zack Bowman, Jake Oberholtzer and Gaige Ryan had fantastic days at the plate. Jake Schweiker did a very good job on the mound today.”
Bowman was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Oberholtzer was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Ryan had a pair of hits, one RBI and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot.
On the mound, Schweiker, one of five Neshaminy pitchers to see action, threw three innings and earned the win, allowing two hits and two runs (unearned) while striking out one and walking one.
In the four-run first, the Redskins collected just one hit – a Bowman single – but benefitted from a walk and several costly Friends Central errors. Friends Central answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning, but Neshaminy erased that deficit with a five-run third.
Oberholtzer, Gibson (bunt), Brendan Raven (RBI) and Bowman (2 RBIs) each had singles in the inning. Neshaminy added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings with Raven delivering an RBI single in the fourth and Bowman hitting an RBI single in the fifth.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 16, GREAT VALLEY 9
The Titans scored early and often, opening up an 8-0 lead after two innings on their way to Saturday’s non-league win. The five-run first was highlighted by a double by Carter Hinds, a two-run double by Owen Petrich and a triple by Matt Boyce that plated a pair.
After a pair reached base on an error and walk in the second, Petrich drove the first run in with a sacrifice fly, and Colin Mitchell followed with a two-run home run to center, spotting the Titans an early eight-run lead.
The Titans weren’t finished yet, adding two runs in the fifth. A six-run outburst in the top of the sixth after Great Valley scored five in the fifth all but iced the win.
“We had two sophomores get their first varsity hit,” CB South coach Kevin Bray said. “Jack Carver hit a home run, which was an exciting moment to be part of, and Logan Hinds had a line drive single to left in his first at-bat.”
Ten different players had base hits for the Titans. Petrich led the team with three RBIs and Carver – who hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning – had a pair of RBIs. Robby Porco was 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Carter Hallgren added a double and scored a run.
Justin Marraccini started and gave the Titans five solid innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking three.

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 14, BRISTOL 0 (5 innings)
In a non-league contest featuring a pair of former BAL foes, four New Hope-Solebury pitchers combined for a no-hitter. Josh Shiller earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings to open the game. He struck out four and walked two and threw just 30 pitches.
AJ Oakes (one strikeout, two walks), Michael Janora (one walk) and Jason Kloss (two strikeouts) each threw one shutout inning.
“Our four pitchers no-hit Bristol,” NHS coach Tony Vlahovic said. “Once our hitters made adjustments at the plate, we had some extra base hits – Matt Jermyn with his first career home run, Liam Griffith with a triple, and Mason Scall and Preston Richlin with doubles.
“Josh Shiller got the win, and all of our pitchers benefitted from flawless defense for five innings.”
In the bottom of the first, Scall led off with a double to right and Justin Lehman’s RBI single spotted the Lions a 1-0 lead. They added a pair in the second with Lehman contributing an RBI single and a second run scoring on an error.
Griffith led off the 11-run third with a single, and Preston Richlin followed with a double that saw Griffith score on the throw. Will Kraemer, Lehman, AJ Oakes, and Richlin each had RBI singles. Griffith – in his second at-bat of the inning – ripped a triple that plated a pair of runs. Matt Jermyn hit a two-run home run.
Lehman’s 3-for-3 day at the plate with three RBIs and a run scored led the Lions. Griffith was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Richlin was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Kraemer was 1-for-2 with one RBI and three runs scored.

HOLY GHOST PREP 9, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4
Austin Stalker had himself a day, smashing two home runs and driving in three runs, but it wasn’t enough. The Firebirds scored in five of six innings on their way to a non-league win on Saturday at Bensalem Ramblers field.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Stalker hit a solo shot to right field. The Firebirds answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and another in the second to go on top 2-1.
In the top of the third, the Indians evened the score. Blake Silber led off with a walk and moved up to second on a sacrifice. Collin Manel singled, putting runners on the corners, and Silber scored on a fielder’s choice by Pat Kusters.
The Firebirds opened up 6-2 lead heading into the top of the sixth when – after leadoff single by Kusters – Stalker ripped his second home run of the day, this one to center field plating a pair.
Reese Abbe doubled for the only other extra base hit for the Indians, who collected just six hits.
Four pitchers saw action for the Indians.
