COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
Gavin Ferrandino turned in a gem on the mound, allowing just three hits in six shutout innings in the SOL opener for both squads. He struck out nine and walked two. Nolan Hartwell did not allow a hit in a scoreless seventh inning of relief, striking out one.
The Indians got all the runs Ferrandino would need in the top of the first when they scored a pair. Kevin Pecuch walked with the bases loaded to push the first run across, and Eric Hoefer delivered an RBI single to account for the second. The Indians added single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Cole Olshavsky had a huge day out of the leadoff spot, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one run scored. Cavan Tully was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Zach Deegan was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored in a contest that saw the Indians collect nine hits.

Offensively, McCarty (2-for-3, RBI, one run), Justin Massielo (2-for-3, RBI, one run) and Justin Ward (2-for-3, run scored) all turned in two-hit performances. Also for the Falcons, Tyrone Hodges had a double and RBI, and Dave Murphy contributed an RBI.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 6, CHELTENHAM 5 (9 innings)
After watching the visiting Panthers take a one-run lead in the top of the ninth, the Colonials responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to win their SOL opener in dramatic fashion.
Freshman Kevin Reilly led off the ninth with a double, and Brad Krenicky followed with an RBI double that knotted the score. Courtesy runner Ryan Kane replaced Krenicky, and on the first pitch Ryan Kliesch saw, he singled to drive in the game winner.
“Basically, without making an out, we scored two runs,” PW coach Chris Manero said. “I told them between innings, ‘Do it without making any outs,’ and they actually did it.”
The Panthers led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth when the Colonials erupted for three runs to go on top by one. The Panthers got that run back in the top of the seventh, setting the stage for extra innings.
“We actually had some guys in new spots today,” Manero said. “Steve Longo was our starting shortstop for the first time. We moved Jacob (Nunez) to second base.
“Kevin Reilly, who was playing third, is normally our catcher. Brad Krenicky got his first start behind the plate. We shuffled things around to try to maximize our bats in the lineup. Everybody seemed to hold their own in those spots.”
Four Colonials contributed a pair of hits – Krenicky (2-for-4, 2B, RBI), Kliesh (2-for-5, 2B, RBI), Justin Gelfand (2-for-3, 2B, RBI) and Dillon Famous (2-for-4, 2B, RBI, run scored). Luke Amoroso was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs out of the leadoff spot.
“Richie Warner had a big hit coming into the game late,” Manero said.
For the Panthers, Kieran Versaw-Barnes had another big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 and scoring a pair of runs. Joel White was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Lukas Nakkula was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run, and David Katzenberg also had a hit and RBI.
John Pecharo earned the win in relief for the Colonials, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned) in three innings. He struck out four and walked two. Alex Haasz absorbed the loss for the Panthers.
PW’s win came on the heels of a 7-1 loss to Hatboro-Horsham in its SOL opener last week.
“One way to look at it is – it’s only the second league game of the season, but for us, we lost out league opener, so to be 1-1 instead of 0-2 in the league and to be 2-2 overall instead of 1-3, I think it means a lot,” Manero said. “Especially on a day when offensively we missed a lot of opportunities, left a lot of guys in scoring positions.
“We really didn’t play great, but to come through at the end and put the big inning together when we needed to – I think it makes this win very important to us.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh (2-2, 1-1 SOL) will host Wissahickon on Thursday, and Cheltenham (0-3, 0-1) is scheduled to be on the road at Upper Dublin on Tuesday.

Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2, NESHAMINY 1
In a non-league battle of projected SOL heavyweights, it was the Titans scoring a pair of late runs to erase a 1-0 Neshaminy lead.
“This was huge,” South coach Brian Klumpp said. “Neshaminy beat up on Upper Dublin pretty good, and then they beat a very good Pennridge team 8-0 very recently. To beat a team like that always builds confidence."
Four South pitchers combined to silence a dangerous Redskin lineup, allowing just five hits.
“We had no pitcher throw over 50 pitches,” Klumpp said. “We had four guys throw very well, and we made a lot of good plays behind them.
“I was actually talking to (coach) Dan (Toner) before the game, and we said, ‘It should be a good offensive game.’ Their pitcher kept us off guard – he pitched very well.”
Evan Matthews limited the Titans to just three hits and two runs (both unearned) in 6.1 innings on the mound. He struck out three and walked two. Zach Tredway recorded the final two outs in the seventh.
For the Titans, Andrew Dietz got the start and allowed one hit and one run in two innings of work. Alex Bendzlowicz followed with two scoreless frames, allowing one hit while fanning two and walking two.
“Alex threw really well,” Klumpp said. “He’s a guy who really came on for us last year and kind of took over the number two role, and we’re looking for him to come out of the bullpen a lot this year.
“Justin Mauz threw really well today today, which was good to see. He hasn’t had much varsity experience, and he only allowed two hits and had a strikeout in two innings.”
Sam Thompson allowed one hit in a scoreless seventh to earn the win.
The Titans plated the game winner in the top of the seventh when Eric Gross delivered a sacrifice fly that plated Casey Sloms. The Titans scored the tying run in the fifth when courtesy runner Danny Tecce scored from second base when a grounder to the infield was booted.
“It was a really good heads up play by Danny,” Klumpp said. “He ran hard all the way through, and it ended up being huge for us since it got the game tied.”
Tredway led the Redskins with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate that included a double and RBI. Gross and Joey Loynd both had doubles for the Titans.
“Gross also made a diving catch into the fence to end the game,” Klumpp said.
Central Bucks South (3-0) will travel to Souderton for its SOL opener Tuesday, and Neshaminy (2-1) will be on the road at Bensalem on Thursday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 6, WILLIAM TENNENT 4
The Golden Hawks took a lead they would not lose with a four-run third inning. The offensive outburst came after the visiting Panthers erased an early 2-0 deficit with three runs in the top of the inning.
John Crane’s two-run double highlighted the four-run fourth for the Hawks. Crane, who finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBIs, also drove in a run in the Hawks’ two-run first with an RBI single.
Josh Kim also had a big day at the plate for the Golden Hawks with a 3-for-3 effort that included a double and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Trey Obarowski was 1-for-2 with a pair of runs for the Hawks.
For the Panthers, who held a 9-7 advantage in hits, Greg Delgado was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Tom Plunkett was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored, and Dylan Mannon also contributed a hit and RBI.
Brendon Carter threw the first three innings for the Golden Hawks, allowing three hits and three runs while fanning four and walking one. Noah Davidson allowed five hits and one run in three innings, walking none and striking out eight. Matt O’Neill worked a scoreless seventh, allowing one hit. The Hawks’ three hurlers combined for 12 strikeouts and two walks.
Council Rock South (2-0) will host Abington in its SOL opener on Tuesday, and William Tennent (0-2) is scheduled to host Central Bucks West on Tuesday.
