The Indians made history with their win over the Panthers, wrapping up their first undefeated conference season in what is believed to be decades.
No one is quite sure when or if it last happened, but whatever the case, it was a significant accomplishment.
“In our league, that is a tough task,” coach Mike Childs said. “I am so proud of the players on this team for accomplishing this incredible feat.”
Jordan Morales did it all for the Indians. He earned the win on the mound, allowing three hits and one run in 6.1 innings while striking out nine and walking two. He also was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
“Jordan played great today,” Childs said. “It was good to see him step up and lead this team offensively and defensively in a big game that we needed to stay in the top four of District 1.”
His two-run single with two outs in the second spotted the Indians a lead they would not lose. The Indians added a pair of runs in the third to go on top 4-0. Frank Pollock had an RBI single.
A solo home run by Dennis Pierce to lead off the sixth made it a 4-1 game, but the Indians all but put the game out of reach with three runs in the seventh. Morales and Bill Norbeck both had RBI singles in the frame.
The Panthers added a run in the seventh on Adam Ritter’s single but would get no closer.
Pollock (2-for-4, RBI), Moses Clemens (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Norbeck (2-for-4, RBI) also had multi-hit days for the Indians.
For the Panthers, Nolan Byrnes was 2-for-3 out of the leadoff spot, and Brad Bryan was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Souderton (17-3, 12-0 SOL) – the third seed in the latest District 1 6A power rankings – will face Upper Perkiomen in a non-league contest Friday, and Quakertown (12-6, 7-5) – the 20th seed – will host Council Rock South on Wednesday in a key cross-over game.

The Golden Hawks continued their march to a district playoff spot with a win over the Tigers. They are seeded 18th in the latest District 1 6A power rankings with one game remaining.
“It was a quality team outing today in a must-win game,” Rock South coach Ted Kirner said.
The Golden Hawks benefitted from an error and a pair of free passes to plate three runs in the first. The Tigers got two of those back in the second to make it a one-run game, but the Hawks erupted for seven runs in the third to regain control. Jared Ennis ignited the rally with a run-scoring triple. Later in the same inning, he had an RBI single. The Tigers never seriously threatened.
Ennis finished the game 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Golden Hawks. Emilio Pallante was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot, and Luke Gregory was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs.
For the Tigers, Evan Profy was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Dylan Jackson doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
Council Rock South (11-5, 7-5 SOL) will be on the road at Quakertown for a cross-over game Wednesday. Harry S Truman (5-12, 3-8) will travel to William Tennent on Wednesday.

Jenna Sadowski picked up the win and a personal milestone, Bean Hughes had herself a day at the plate, and the Golden Bears moved one step closer to earning a share of the conference crown.
But the big story just might have been the fact that the game was played.
“Wissahickon’s field was in impeccable condition today – their grounds crew did a tremendous job,” UM coach Scott Ludlow said. “It was in the best condition of any field we played on this year – it really was. It was unbelievable.
“I was concerned that we’d even have a chance to play, but you walked on the field – it wasn’t soft, it was in great shape.”
Sadowski’s first strikeout of the complete game win was the 200th of her career. She allowed six hits while striking out five and walking two.
“She pitched a nice game today,” Ludlow said. “For three years, she’s been a key cog in what we’ve done in terms of our success.
“Obviously, Jenna and Jocie (Baumeister) split time the last two years. Two hundred strikeouts is an achievement. She’s been really solid for me, and she’s had a very good year offensively in terms of hitting and RBIs also.”
Hughes was the catalyst at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. The junior shortstop smashed a two-run home run in the third to put the Bears on top 5-1.
Earlier, the Golden Bears scored three in the top of the first. After three straight singles loaded the bases, Jackie Martino hit a sacrifice fly, and then it was Sadowski laying down a suicide squeeze bunt to plate a second run. By the time the inning was over, UM led 3-0.
The Trojans got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning, but Hughes gave her team a four-run lead in the top of the third. The Trojans plated two runs in the bottom of the inning to make it a 5-3 game. The Bears put the game away with four runs in the seventh. Sadowski’s two-run single highlighted the frame.
In addition to Hughes, Chloe Kramer was 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Martino was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
For the Trojans, Danielle Ciliberto was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored. Josie Johnston had a home run. Macey Segal contributed a double.
“The top and middle of their lineup hit the ball,” Ludlow said. “They had four doubles – all to the fence – and a home run. They hit some hard outs.
“They put some runners in (scoring) position. Jenna got out of an inning or two. Bean (Hughes) made a nice play on a line drive in the fifth inning and then doubled the girl off third base to end the inning. That was a big spot because we were only up two runs at that point.”
Upper Moreland (13-5, 11-2 SOL) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday for a contest with a title implications – a win will ensure the Golden Bears at least a share of the SOL American Conference title. Wissahickon (7-11, 6-8) will host St. Basil Academy in a non-league game Thursday.
