SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks East 4, North Penn 0
Both teams badly needed a win, and matched up against one of the league’s top pitchers, CB East’s Tyler Behm came up big when his team needed him most.
Behm picked up his second complete-game win in three starts, throwing just 85 pitches, allowing just two hits and a walk, while striking out six.
“Tyler Behm has been unbelievable,” said Patriots coach Kyle Dennis. “In his last three starts, he’s thrown two complete games, and the one in between against CB South he went six innings and got a no-decision. He’s been absolutely unbelievable.
“We’re blessed with a pretty deep pitching staff, but Tyler did his job. When you’re playing three games in two days, having a starter with a complete game in Game 1, sets it up for Game 2, and that hopefully sets up for Game 3. We were fortunate to have Tyler do what he did today.”
Unofficially, CB East is ranked No. 20 in the district power rankings after Tuesday’s win, with 20 teams qualifying for the postseason. To get its schedule in, it will play two games on Wednesday, both at home – vs. Neshaminy at 2 p.m. and vs. first-place Souderton at 5 p.m.
The Patriots started quickly against North Penn’s Dylan Brown, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Reece Moody led off with the game with a single, and a Chase Fulford single put runners on the corners.
After an error scored one run, an RBI groundout by Chase Harlan made it 2-0.
Both of North Penn’s hits came with two outs in the bottom of the first, but Behm got a groundout to end the inning and then retired the final 17 batters of the game, including back-to-back strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh.
Max McGrady had a leadoff home run in the sixth for CB East, while another run scored on a passed ball.
Joey Wilga went 2-for-3 with a double for the Patriots as well.
For CB East (11-6, 8-6 SOL), it’s one big game down with two remaining less than 24 hours later.
“We kind of had a feeling it was going to come to this,” Dennis said. “We knew the weather Thursday looks shaky, and we’re confident in our pitchers that we have the depth to play three games in two days.
“We have to win. We’re very confident in our pitchers and our hitters. We have a great offensive lineup. We think we have guys who can do a lot of damage.”
The loss hurts North Penn (8-10, 6-9 SOL), which is now 23rd in the power rankings. The Knights conclude their league schedule Wednesday at Council Rock South.

Central Bucks South 3, Pennridge 0
At 0-4 back in March, the season didn’t look so promising for CB South.
Tuesday, on the road, the Titans won their fourth straight game with their season on the line, and put themselves in great position for a spot in the upcoming District One Class 6A playoffs with the shutout win over Pennridge.
“I’m super proud of their performance these last few weeks,” said coach Kevin Bray. “We started off 0-4 and it could’ve went either way. They bought in and accepted the challenge the coaching staff set for them. We finished 11-4 in our last 15 games.”
Tuesday was the Robby Porco show. The CB South senior struck out 13, walked just one and allowed just three hits for the complete-game shutout. He had a no-hitter through five innings.
“He was masterful today,” Bray said. “From the get-go, his velocity was there and his command was there. Robby is an outstanding kid. He carries himself fantastically on the mound. He’s just an all-around good human being. For him to perform that way is even more special.”
The Titans started quickly offensively against Pennridge’s starter Ryan DeHaven.
Logan Hinds singled and went to second on a ground out. JT Anderosky followed with an RBI single for the game’s first run. Owen Wheeler made it 2-0 with a two-out RBI single.
Eric Damico doubled and scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 in the second inning.
CB South (11-8) hosts Upper Moreland in a nonleague game on Thursday night, and now in the No. 18 spot, will find out its district playoff position on Thursday as well.
Pennridge (8-10, 5-10 SOL) hosts CB West in its final game on Wednesday.

Souderton 6, Central Bucks West 0
Will McCausland showed once again why he’s been the SOL Colonial’s best pitcher this season.
The Souderton senior pitched a complete-game two-hitter, with 12 strikeouts and no walks. He threw just 77 pitches.
“He threw a great game,” said Indians coach Mike Childs. “I challenged him before the game to work on being more efficient with his pitches to lower his pitch count. I said try to stay under 90 in seven, and he responded by being under 80 in seven.
“He is a competitor and just does what is asked of him. He has been fun to watch. “
On the season, McCausland is 7-1 with an 0.61 ERA, with 82 strikeouts and just 12 walks in 46 innings pitched.
Offensively, Souderton jumped on CB West right from the jump in the bottom of the first. Shanley Wall and Chris McKenna opened the inning with back-to-back singles, followed by a two-run double by Luke Pollock. Hunter Weitzel made it 3-0 with a two-out RBI single.
McKenna had a RBI groundout in the fourth, Carter Jagiela opened the fifth with a solo home run and Justin Dicesare scored the sixth run with an RBI double.
Wall, Ethan Warner and Kaden Paternask had two-hit games for Souderton.
“I was happy to see our bats come alive with 11 hits and three guys with multiple hits,” Childs said. “I think this is the fourth time that at least eight of our nine starters have got a hit in the same game this year.”
Colonial Division champion Souderton (16-3, 13-2 SOL) wraps up its league schedule Wednesday at CB East (5 p.m. start). It currently sits at No. 4 in the district power rankings.
CB West (9-9, 7-7 SOL), currently No. 19 in the power rankings, will play twice on Wednesday. At 3:45, the Bucks travel to Pennridge, and then at 6:30, they’ll host Neshaminy in a game played at CB South.

Pennsbury 2, Council Rock North 0
In its six previous games, Pennsbury scored 10 or more runs each time out, and in turn wrapped up the SOL Patriot title and a high seed in the upcoming District One Class 6A playoffs.
Tuesday, the Falcons went up against a red-hot pitcher in CR North’s Collin Williams, and needed excellent pitching themselves, quality defense and some timely hitting to post the 2-0 victory.
It was their ninth straight win.
“I was a little concerned we haven’t been in a pressure-packed situation in a while,” Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci said. “(CR North) had to win and we were facing Colin Williams. It was a great test and we found a way to win.”
Williams was terrific for the Indians, as he carried a no-hitter into the sixth, and the only hit he allowed was a solo home run to Pennsbury’s Justin Mitrovich.
“He’s thrown a handful of no-hitters, one-hitters and whatever,” Pesci said. “He was really locating his fastball and we were chasing high. As the game went on, we had better at bats. He really was dominant. He made a mistake and Mitrovich connected and put one out.”
Pennsbury’s other run came in the third, as a pair of walks, a wild pitch and a sac fly by Callan Fang made it 1-0.
Starter Kayden Faulcon and Fang out of the bullpen were strong for the Falcons on the mound. too. Faulcon allowed one hit, worked around six walks and struck out four in 4 ⅔ inning. Fang pitched 2 ⅓ scoreless innings, striking out four.
Pennsbury (17-3, 13-3 SOL), currently No. 5 in the district power ranks, wrapped up its regular season schedule.
CR North (10-8, 8-8 SOL) will wait and see if it finds a way into the 20-team playoff field. The Indians were unofficially at No. 21 after Tuesday’s game.

Council Rock South 3, Harry S Truman 1
Looking to close a rough season on a positive note, CR South got a look into the future Tuesday in a positive way and posted the 3-1 win over visiting Truman.
Sophomore right-hander Chase Ennis allowed just one run on three hits and one walk over six innings, and got some help from reliever Matt Camp, who closed out the win with a perfect seventh inning.
“Really proud of our guys today,” said Golden Hawks coach Greg Paprocki. “Our young guys really stepped up.
“Chase Ennis threw a gem. He is a true competitor that wants the ball every time he steps on the mound. He has a bright future and is someone we are building around.”
At the plate, CR South scored all of the runs it needed in the first inning. After a pair of walks put runners on base, John Mendola drove in a run with an RBI single and two more scored on errors.
The Hawks managed just four hits against tough Truman starter Ryan Cavanaugh, who struck out 10 in 5 ⅔ innings pitched.
CR South (3-13, 2-13 SOL) wraps up its season Wednesday at home against North Penn.
“We are looking to take this momentum and send our seniors off the right way,” Paprocki said.

Quakertown 6, Abington 5 (9 innings)
Quakertown went on the road, rallied in the seventh inning to force extra innings, scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth, and then got a double play with the bases loaded with one out to finish off the game in the bottom of the ninth.
“Another tough game against Abington,” said Panthers coach Jon Pallone. “They’re much better than their record showed, but I think that’s a testament to the quality of our league. (Abington’s Anthony) Ehly threw very well against us today.
“Carl Weiss had another good start – he gave us a chance to win. Vinny Pellegrini came in for his first appearance in a few weeks and looked really good. Chris Parrillo got us out of a jam and then Matthew Marsten did as well to pick up the save.”
Brandon Pierce got the Panthers started with a three-run home run off of Seton Hall-bound Ehly in the top of the first.
But Abington bounced back, as Chase Goodson had a RBI double and John Dzielawa a RBI groundout in the second and then Matt Worek tied it with a RBI double in the third.
Quakertown took the lead back with a run in the fourth, as Ty Everitt picked up an RBI with a sacrifice bunt, only to see the Galloping Ghosts answer back again with two runs in the fifth to take the lead. Worek had another RBI double and Luke Sydlowski made it 5-4 with an RBI single.
In the top of the seventh, Pierce led off for Quakertown with a single, and was bunted to second by Peyton Kochel. Ethan Beil then tied at 5 with an RBI single.
Abington put two runners on in the bottom of the eight, but couldn’t plate the winning run.
Kochel started Quakertown’s rally in the ninth with a one-out single, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on another RBI single by Beil.
The bottom of the ninth saw a leadoff walk and then a one-out error that put runners on first and third. Worek was then intentionally walked to load the bases. A ground ball to third led to a force play at the plate and then the out at first for the game-ending double play.
Quakertown (10-6-1, 10-4-1 SOL), No. 11 in the District One power rankings, plays at Upper Dublin on Wednesday.
Abington (9-10, 7-9 SOL) ended its league schedule with the loss, and has a nonleague game scheduled at Archbishop Wood Wednesday.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 6, Wissahickon 5
The Colonials won their third straight one-run game to close out their SOL Liberty Division schedule by edging Wissahickon on Tuesday.
Tied at 5, Plymouth Whitemarsh won the game as Joe Redmond scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded and two outs.
“We feel like we had a really strong second half of the season,” said PW coach Chris Manero. “And as we focus on the start of district playoffs next week, we hope to take advantage of that momentum.”
This one looked like it was going to be a slugfest early.
Two batters into the game, Wissahickon’s Nate DeVincent put his team up 2-0 with a two-run home run.
PW answered with five runs in the bottom of the first. Mike Miller hit a two-run home run of his own to tie it up, then a dropped third strike opened the door for a big inning, as the Colonials scored one on a wild pitch and two more on a Colin Brady’s two-RBI double to center field.
“We did a nice job bouncing back with five runs in the first after falling behind 2-0,” Manero said. “Mike Miller’s first inning home run was just another highlight from what has been an absolute torrid year for him at the plate.”
The pitchers settled in for a few innings, as Wissahickon’s Chris Carr came out of the bullpen and was strong, and PW starter Ray Tomassetti held the Trojans at-bay as well.
But in the fourth, Wissahickon struck again, tying the game with three runs – one on a bases-loaded hit by pitch, and two on a single by Ben Junker.
Alex Wilkie-Viscio came out of the bullpen to quash the rally with the score tied 5-5, setting the stage for PW’s game-winning run in the sixth.
“Unfortunately, we just couldn’t get a lot going after the first and the pace of the game was brutal at times,” Manero said. “I just didn’t feel like we made the adjustments and we saw our lead diminish because of that.
“Fortunately, Alex settled in out of the pen and kept the game tied long enough for us to manufacture the go-ahead run.”
Redmond finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored for PW. In the sixth, he led off with a single, stole second and went to third on a fielder’s choice.
After an intentional walk to Jesse Jaconski and a pop out, the bases were loaded for Miller. The wild pitch came on a 1-2 count, and proved to be the decisive run in the game.
PW (14-5, 11-5 SOL) now awaits its District One Class 6A playoff seeding. It plays a nonleague game against Radnor on Wednesday.
Wissahickon (8-11, 8-8 SOL) hosts Lansdale Catholic in a nonleague game Wednesday. The Trojans went into Tuesday in the No. 10 spot for the upcoming District One Class 5A playoffs, and will find out its postseason fate on Thursday.

Upper Dublin 14, Hatboro-Horsham 11
No other team has had much luck against Liberty champ Hatboro-Horsham this spring, and Tuesday, Upper Dublin brought its hitting shoes, pounding out 14 runs on 16 hits to hand the Hatters their first league loss of the season.
“Our offense had an amazing game,” said Flying Cardinals coach Ed Wall. “Our coaches – Ken Irwin, Randy Meehl and CJ Williams – have done a fantastic job helping to build our hitters this season. All of the work they’ve put in was on display today.
“I knew we couldn’t stop scoring. We’ve seen Hatboro come back on teams all season, including us, and that no lead was a lock. In the end, Justin Richman, Griffin Pestrack and our defense held up for the win against their gritty lineup. I was proud of our toughness and intent to finish the game today.”
Nick Harley was the ring leader, going 5-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Kyle Rizzo was 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs.

H-H answered with seven runs in the second to go up 7-6, but the Cardinals responded with four in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
The Hatters rallied to get within three runs in the seventh, but that’s where their comeback attempts would end.
Richman picked up the win, allowing only one earned run over three innings, while Petrack allowed one earned run over the final three innings.
Trey Porter went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs for the Hatters. Nick Katherine was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI, while Cole Fisher was 2-for-5.

With one game remaining for both teams after Tuesday, this one was a big game in the race for the SOL Freedom title, and an impressive outing from New Hope’s Matt Jermyn put the Lions in the driver’s seat with an impressive road win.
“Matt Jermyn was an absolute bulldog on the mound,” said coach Tony Vlahovic. “He pitched ahead and all three of his pitches were moving.
“Our defense, especially Kyle Campbell, Matt Spadavecchia and Nate Wiseman had some web gems.”
Jermyn allowed just one run on four hits and one walk, while striking out eight. He went the distance and threw 104 pitches on the night.
