North Penn 4, Spring-Ford 3
The Knights won their regular season finale at Ben Hostelley Field, but the headliner in Friday’s Community Night game was Linda Law, who was honored with her induction in the Knights of Fame. Law is retiring after 53 years of employment by North Penn School District. For more than five decades, Law was the face of the athletic department as the athletic secretary.
In the game that followed, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, and the Knights answered with a run in the bottom of the second. That 1-1 tie was short-lived as the Rams plated a run in the third to go on top 2-1.
In the bottom of the third, Michael Cliver led off with a line single to left field, and Brady Dolder and Mason Coyne drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Cliver scored on a passed ball, and Dolder scored on a double play to give the Knights a 3-2 advantage.
Spring-Ford knotted the score in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, Cliver drew a leadoff walk, moved up to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a sacrifice by Chase Jones. Cliver scored the game-winner on a wild pitch for the walk-off win.
Twenty-three Knights saw action in Friday’s game. Cliver was in the middle of the action, finishing 1-for-1 with two runs scored.
Ben Holdsworth – who earned the win – allowed one hit in a scoreless seventh, striking out two and walking none.
