NORTH PENN 5, AVON GROVE 0
Mady Volpe had the day off on Saturday, and sophomore Rachel Lowry was happy to pick up where her teammate left off after winning three games in three days and throwing 25 innings in that span. Lowry tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out five and walking one in the complete game win.
“She did a nice job,” coach Rick Torresani said. “It was just a good game. We had a couple of kids not there because they were visiting colleges.”
While Lowry was getting the job done in the circle, Jordan Pietrzykoski provided the fireworks at the plate. The Hofstra-bound senior hit a solo home run in the third and followed that with a two-run home run in the fifth. Carley DiGiuseppe delivered a two-run single in the first inning.
Pietrzykoski led the Knights with a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the plate with three RBIs. The Knights collected seven hits.
North Penn (9-0, 4-0 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South on Monday in a key conference battle.

Baseball
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 7, INTERBORO 3
The Patriots erupted for three runs in the second and never lost their lead en route to a win in Saturday’s non-league contest.
East’s three-run second was highlighted by singles from Jack Koch, David Bloom, Tyler Young and Nick Bitsko (RBI).
Bitsko finished the day 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one RBI. Leadoff batter Tyler Young was 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored. Cole Allen singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Four East pitchers saw action. Martin Chitjian, who earned the win, threw four scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out six and walking none.
Central Bucks East (3-5, 1-4 SOL) will host Pennridge on Monday.

ARCHBISHOP WOOD 5, HARRY S TRUMAN 2
The Tigers fell behind 3-0, and a pair of late runs could not erase the Vikings’ early lead in Saturday’s non-league game..
Wood scored single runs in each of the first three innings, and that 3-0 lead stood until the sixth when Tim Foley delivered an RBI single. The Vikings scored a pair in the bottom of the inning to go on top 5-1. In the top of the seventh, Joey Wright, who singled, scored on a wild pitch for the 5-2 final.
Evan Profy’s 2-for-2 effort with a run scored out of the leadoff spot led the Tigers. Foley was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Harry S Truman (2-5, 1-2 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury on Monday.

SPRING-FORD 7, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3
Saturday’s non-league game started out on a promising note for the visiting Indians, who plated three runs in the top of the first, but they did not score the rest of the way.
In the first, Collin Manel led off with a single, and one out later, Andrew Mancini and Pat Kusters delivered back-to-back RBI doubles. The Indians led 3-0 after Ryan Stalker hit a sacrifice fly.
The Rams scored two runs in the bottom of the inning and put some distance between themselves and the Indians with a five-run third.
Manel’s 2-for-4 game with a run scored led the Indians. Kyle Dearie also had a double.
Matt Roda allowed just one hit and one run in a three-inning relief stint.
Council Rock North (2-4, 0-3 SOL) will host Bensalem on Monday in a special Autism Awareness game.
