William Tennent won a slugfest with Wissahickon in SOL baseball, and North Penn defeated CB East in SOL softball action Wednesday.

In a game that saw the Panthers and Trojans combine for 32 runs and 27 hits, it’s hardly a surprise that there were some monster offensive performances.
Tennent senior Xavier Delgado continued his assault on opposing pitchers, finishing the game 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
“He’s a real incredible talent,” Tennent coach Rick Penecale said. “He can do anything on the baseball field.
“Last year he was in center field and played the best outfield I’ve seen. This year he’s at shortstop, and he’s the best shortstop. He can pitch, and he was the winning pitcher today. He can do anything and he makes it look so easy. He’s a good leader – the kids look up to him.”
Xavier’s brother Armando Delgado had a pair of hits, including a three-run home run.
“Armando’s having a real good year,” Penecale said. “He put the work in during the offseason, and good things are coming to him.”
Kip Mooney had the most productive bat for the Panthers, finishing the game 3-for-5 with a home run and seven RBIs. His three-run home run highlighted a six-run second that put the Panthers on top 9-5.
“The balls were carrying, let’s put it that way,” Penecale said. “The wind was definitely a factor. Every time a ball was hit in the air – it was an event.
“We hit the ball well, they hit the ball pretty well, plus with the wind – it was just one of those games.”
Jackson Tappen’s 3-for-3 effort with a run scored led the Trojans’ 15-hit attack. Joe Liotta was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Joe Hornig was 2-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored. He hit a two-run home run in the fifth. Joe Booth was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, and Brian Menhardt was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Leadoff batter Brian Hynes was 1-for-2 with a triple and three runs scored. Eddie Fortescue had a two-run triple in the Trojans’ five-run fourth.
William Tennent (3-1, 0-1 SOL) will host Pennsbury on Tuesday, and Wissahickon (1-3, 0-2) will host Springfield Township on Thursday.

Softball
NORTH PENN 14, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3
Camille Larson hit a two-run home run to left field in the top of the first, spotting the visiting Patriots an early 3-0 lead . It turned out to be short-lived as the Knights – ignited by a grand slam off the bat of Elia Namey – responded in the bottom of the inning. By the time the inning had ended, the Knights led 5-3, and they were just getting started.
They scored in every inning, and in the bottom of the fifth, Jamie Beer delivered a three-run blast to give the Knights the walk-off win.
Namey (3-for-4, HR, 4 RBIs, 3 runs) and Jamie Beer (3-for-3, HR, 3 RBIs, 3 runs) led the Knights’ 10-hit attack.
“We’re hitting really well,” coach Rick Torresani said. “Mady (Volpe) is pitching really well. I screwed up on that home run. I should have thrown a change-up and I didn’t, and the girl just met the ball, hit it in the air, and it was gone.”
Volpe earned the win, allowing just three hits and three runs while striking out 12 and walking two in the abbreviated five-inning game.
North Penn (5-0, 2-0 SOL) will travel to Quakertown on Wednesday, and Central Bucks East (0-4, 0-3) will host Hatboro-Horsham in a non-league game Friday.
