SPRINGFIELD TWP 60, SCIENCE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 25
Junior captains Bob Hartman and Aiden Hood combined for 41 points, leading the Spartans to the non-league victory – their second win of the season.
“It was great,” Springfield coach Rob Fusaro said. “It was good for the kids to get that confidence going. We have a younger team, so it’s really good for them to know what they’re doing is paying off.”
Hartman erupted for 13 first-quarter points, and Hood added eight as the Spartans jumped out to a 21-10 lead. Brandon Thompson’s eight points led the Spartans in a 20-pont second quarter, and they took a 41-15 lead into halftime.
“We started out confident, executing what we do and just being aggressive and being the aggressors on the offensive and defensive ends,” Fusaro said. “We had a solid lead, and we maintained and just kept executing and doing what we needed to do.”
Monday’s non-league win snapped a five-game losing streak for a young Spartan squad that has stayed together.
“We really have a close group, probably one of the closest I’ve had,” Fusaro said. “There are no seniors on the roster and a really good group of guys that got some experience last year – they’re getting a lot of experience and kind of learning as we have gone through the season. They’re finally starting to get the confidence, knowing what we know they can do and starting to execute that.”
Hartman’s 23 points – 19 in the first half – led the Spartans. Hood added 18 points and five rebounds. Will McLaughlin played the role of facilitator, finishing with 10 assists to go along with five rebounds. Brandon Thompson added eight points and seven rebounds. Ryan Bell led the Spartans under the boards with 10 rebounds.
Springfield Twp (2-6, 1-6 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 56, BRISTOL 21
The Hatters opened a 16-5 lead after one quarter and extended that lead to 27-10 by halftime on their way to a non-league win that brought a welcome end to a four-game skid.
“We’re back in the win column after almost 20 days,” Hatters’ assistant Nicole Miletto said. “We were able to get things started early, and we settled in.
“Coach (Eric) Glemser has talked about spreading out our scoring and not relying on two players to get it done. Tonight we were able to do that.”
Madison Siegfried led a balanced attack with 11 points, and Maddy Patel added 10 – all in the middle two quarters. Gabby Fisher and Alyssa Tooley both had eight points while Angelica Visceglia and Kitty Randa each had six points.
Underscoring the Hatters’ balance was the fact that six players contributed scoring in a 16-point first quarter.
“Senior Kitty Randa and junior Maddy Patel, who had been doing most of the scoring, were quiet in the first quarter, and everyone else stepped up,” Miletto said. “Senior Alyssa Tooley got us started, and freshmen forward Gabby Fisher played really well tonight. She was strong in the paint and had some nice finishes.
“Freshman Angelica Visceglia did it defensively and with some nice passing. Freshman guard Madison Siegfried had a nice second half and knocked down a couple of 3s. It was a balanced night, and it was nice to see the girls have some fun. We still need to get to the line more and make free throws, but we’ll take it, and hopefully, it will spark us.
“We have two more games this week, and at this point, all games are tough ones, and we can’t take anything for granted.”
Hatboro-Horsham (5-8, 2-5 SOL) will host Springfield Twp on Tuesday in a crossover game.
