SOL Liberty/Freedom Crossovers
William Tennent 63, Abington 59
In a back-and-forth battle, William Tennent emerged with the four-point win in the end, its first at Abington in two decades.
“It’s the last (crossover game) and it was huge,” said Panthers coach Robert Mulville. “We knew Abington was on a six-game winning streak, and we haven’t played there in a while. I know we haven’t won there very much. It’s the first time we won there since 2002.
“Getting that win against a really good team puts us in good position – we’ve got a lot of confidence – for the final push of the season. It was a huge road win.”
Tennent led 57-50 with 2 minutes, 15 seconds remaining, only to see Abington go on a 9-1 run and take the lead at 59-58 after Paul Glants nailed a pair of free throws with 1:23 remaining. Tennent’s Evan Devor tied it with 1 of 2 free throws. After the Ghosts were whistled for an offensive foul, Danny Scheller hit a pair of free throws to give Tennent a 60-58 advantage.
With nine second remaining, Abington called a timeout. The Ghosts’ shot for the tie fell short, and Isaiah Dawson pulled down the rebound of the Ghosts’ miss He was fouled and finished off the game by burying a pair at the line for the 63-59 final.
“It was a really, really great game,” Mulville said. “(Jeremiah) Lee had a nice game for them. He was super hot in the third quarter.
“Same thing with (Kirby) Mooney for us. He was hot all throughout the game, but I’m real happy with the way our team came together tonight. They played with a lot of energy, and the guys off the bench played great for us.
“Abington was great too. It was a great high school basketball game tonight. Both teams went after it, and we were fortunate to come out on the winning end.”
Mooney led Tennent with 19 points, George Marion added 14, Devor, 10 points, and Imad Abunima had three 3-pointers and nine points.
The Panthers (11-5, 7-4 SOL) have a one-game lead in the SOL Freedom over second-place Cheltenham with six games remaining and division play returns on Tuesday. Tennent, No. 13 in the District One Class 6A power rankings, plays at Springfield on Tuesday,

A 21-point first quarter sent Cheltenham on its way to a win in this one Friday, as Kalani Healey had nine of his team-high 16 in the first.
With the win, Cheltenham (7-7, 6-5 SOL) moved into the No. 28 spot in the District One Class 6A power rankings, on the outside looking in for the 24-team district playoff. It has a big nonleague home game Saturday night against North Penn.
“We know with back-to-back games we have to continue to maintain the effort,” said Panthers coach Patrick Fleury. “Defensively, we have to continue to focus on our game plan. Hatboro is a competitive team, and we wanted to make sure that we matched or exceeded their energy and just tried to play hard.”
The Panthers’ lead was 10 at halftime, and then 46-29 after three quarters.

Upper Dublin 50, Lower Moreland 29
Friday night, Upper Dublin won its 10th straight game and did so with a stellar defensive effort, holding Lower Moreland without a point in the first quarter and just three field goals in the first half on the way to the 21-point win.
“Defensively, it was one of our best nights,” said Flying Cardinals coach Derek Brooks. “They didn’t score in the first quarter, and we held them to six at halftime. After that first quarter, we felt like we set the tone. Anytime you hold a team to zero points in the first quarter, you put yourself in great shape.”
The offense took over from there.
Ryan Mulroy scored 22 points and Seaton Kukla added 10.
“Offensively, I thought we were patient,” Brooks said. “We took what they gave us. Sometimes, we capitalized, sometimes we didn’t. It was a slow game. It felt like it was only a 40-possession game.
“(Lower Moreland) is very disciplined. We preached that for two straight days. When I was (coaching) at New Hope, we were 0-4 against those guys. All of those guys can shoot, dribble and pass. They know how to play and have discipline. What they lack in strength, size and athleticism, they make up for in knowing how to play. They were patient. I think the first possession was 45-50 seconds.”
Upper Dublin (13-4, 9-2 SOL) is currently No. 5 in the District One Class 5A power rankings. It hosts Quakertown on Tuesday.
Kevin Hegedus led Lower Moreland (6-11, 4-7 SOL) with 13 points. The Lions, No. 14 in Class 5A, host Upper Moreland on Tuesday.

Quakertown 58, New Hope-Solebury 24
Quakertown needed a win on Friday to get back on track. A 21-point second quarter blew this one wide open as the Panthers put away visiting New Hope 58-24 and snapped a two-game losing streak.
“Bottom line, we practice extremely hard, and we practice on things that if we execute in games, things would be different for us,” said Quakertown coach Tony DaCosta. “We have to carry our hard work in practice over to games as we play meaningful basketball in our division. Everyone knows the Liberty is a tough division.”
Offensively, Miles Longacre and Kyle Rosenberger led Quakertown with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Rosenberger scored all of his 11 points in the second quarter. Anthony Callan added eight, and Ethan Tomlinson scored seven points.
“I just conveyed to the guys, we have to be more consistent on both ends of the floor if we have to have success and extend the season,” DaCosta said. “We’ve been talking about playing a full 32 minutes on both ends and tonight we were able to do that.
“Tonight, Miles played really well. He gave us consistent point production. Kyle was very good on both ends of the floor, offensively and defensively. Anthony stepped up inside and out. Everybody played very well.”
Quakertown (7-9, 4-7 SOL) is 27th in the District One power rankings, three spots out of a potential playoff berth with six games remaining. It has a nonleague game Saturday at Liberty before returning to division play next week with games at second place Upper Dublin and first place Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Friday, Springfield played well, especially in the first half. Will Cooney scored all 13 of his points in the first two quarters, while Dylan McKenzie had 11 in the first half, and the Spartans were within one, 29-28, at halftime.
A 19-point third quarter helped Wissahickon stretch the lead and then survived some difficulty (8-for-14) from the free throw line in the fourth to put the game away.
The Trojans were led by Earl Stout with 20 points, Jaylon Williams with 15 and Dom Vacchiano with 14.

The hot streak continued for the Rams, on the road Friday night against Bensalem.
Pennridge scored 36 points in the first half and never looked back in a 21-point win over the Owls in the final crossover game for both teams.
“The boys came off the bus – obviously it’s a long ride down there and we talked about energy and poise and they sure did have the energy,” said coach Dean Behrens, who celebrated his 300th career win on Friday. “We got off to a great start. The lid was open early. Offensively, we shot the ball extremely well in the first quarter, and defensively, we adjusted to their speed by the second quarter. We played solid defense.”
Tommy Cramer scored a game-high 21 points for Pennridge.
“He had problems with his nose in practice and had to wear a mask,” Behrens said. “I told him after the game, he might be wearing that mask for the rest of the season.”
Matt Campione added 18 points, Xavier Peters had 12 and Jake Buesing and Gannon Perlini scored eight points each.
The Rams (12-5, 7-4 SOL) have won nine of their last 10 games and stand at No. 12 in the District One Class 6A power rankings. They play at another red-hot team, North Penn, in the return to Colonial Division play on Tuesday.
“Obviously, every night for us it’s a collective group of guys playing for each other, having fun and they’re all in for the team,” Behrens said. “Everyone recognizes their roles, from JV to varsity. It’s been a great group to coach.”
Bensalem was led by Antonio Morris with 19 points and Eric Gonzalez with 11.
“Congrats to Coach Behrens on his 300th victory,” Bensalem coach Ron Morris said. “That’s an amazing accomplishment to achieve. He’s been doing a great job for a long time.”

Neshaminy 52, Central Bucks West 38
After its biggest win of the season over CB East on Tuesday, Neshaminy wanted to follow that up with another crossover win on Friday and did just that, starting quickly against visiting CB West and earning a solid 14-point win.
Neshaminy scored 20 points in the first quarter – Sean Curley had seven points, Nate Townsend hit two 3-pointers and Guy Horton scored five – to go up 20-9 after one.
“(CB West) is a pretty good defensive team,” said Neshaminy coach Mark Tingle. “They’re pretty physical. In general, this was a physical game. We jumped up 20-9 and kind of kept it at the 10 to 12-point mark the whole game. We still got to 50 points, but they definitely make you earn your points.”
Curley ended up with 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists to lead Neshaminy. Nate Townsend had 13 points, Horton had eight and Ashton Lovelace finished with seven points.
“Our starting center (Joey Zack) was out, making an official (college) visiting for football,” Tingle said. “Ryan Meehan and Ashton Lovelace stepped up and filled that big role. We did a good job team rebounding, holding West to one shot.”
With the win, Neshaminy (10-6, 7-4 SOL) moved into a first-place tie in the Patriot Division with rival Pennsbury. It also is No. 19 in the District power rankings and plays at Upper Merion in a nonleague game on Saturday.

Central Bucks East 54, Council Rock North 43
Junior Jacob Cummiskey returned to the lineup after an illness, and CB East shook off its first SOL loss on Tuesday with the 11-point win over tough CR North on Friday night.
“They did really give us problems,” said Patriots coach Erik Henrysen. “They controlled the tempo of the game defensively and offensively, as well. Credit to North. They were well prepared for us.”
The Indians led 11-8 after one and 19-14 at halftime.
“We preached at halftime that we really needed to pick up the tempo, make the game more of an up and down game,” Henrysen said. “I felt good about the matchup if we were able to run. Our guards were able to speed it up and that helped us a little bit. It helped us getting into the open court.”
Cummiskey made his presence felt with 18 points – 16 in the second half – as well as 10 rebounds. Joey Giordano had 11 points and seven assists.
“We got great contributions off the bench as well,” Henrysen said. “Caleb Lyzinski came off the bench in the first half, got a good block and a finish to help settle us down. Nick Condo hit a huge ‘3’ in the third when both teams were kind of fighting for momentum.
“We’ve been able to get different contributions from different guys.”
CB East (15-2, 10-1 SOL) is No. 3 in the District One power rankings heading into a Tuesday division game at rival CB West.

Souderton 59, Council Rock South 57
Souderton built a 29-15 lead at halftime, only to see visiting CR South cut into that lead in the second half, but the Indians were able to regroup and put it away late to snap a four-game losing streak.
“We got that nice lead at halftime, and they made a run in the third, but we were able to refocus after they made a run,” said Indians coach Okoteh Sackitey. “It was still down to six at the end of the third, and it was going to be a close game and a back-and-forth game. We were able to stick together and hang on and come out with a win in this one.”
Souderton had four players finish in double figures, led by Aiden Maue and Levi John with 14 points each.
“(Maue) played really big and did a nice job finishing around the rim,” Sackitey said about Maue, who scored a career high. “He had a huge 3 in the fourth quarter. They cut our lead to three points, and he hit a 3 that put us back up six.
“He had 14 and Levi John had 14, so we got big nights from our bigs.”
Nate Hemsing had 12 and James Blair added 11 for Souderton.
CR South was led by Matt Robinson with 21 and Timmy Rahill with 17. The Golden Hawks scored 42 points and hit 10 3-pointers in the second half to get it close but could never catch the Indians down the stretch.
