North Penn was victorious in SOL boys’ basketball action Wednesday.
NORTH PENN 53, UPPER MERION 39
AJ Mitchell scored 17 points – all in the second half, igniting the offense and leading the Knights to the come-from-behind non-league win.
The Knights got off to a slow start and trailed 11-6 after one quarter. They were still on the short end of an 18-15 halftime score before outscoring the Vikings 15-11 in the third period to go into the final quarter with a one-point lead.
That’s when Mitchell went to work, connecting on a pair of three-pointers and burying seven-of-eight foul shots. Behind Mitchell’s 13 points, the Knights closed out the game with a 23-10 fourth quarter surge.
Also finishing in double figures for the Knights was Ricky Johns with 10 points. Reece Udinski added eight and Lance Ford had seven. The Knights were 16-of-22 from the foul line while the Vikings were 4-of-6.
UM’s Ethan Miller led all scorers with 22 points.
North Penn (14-4, 7-1 SOL) will travel to Souderton on Friday.
