Neshaminy extended Pioneer Athletic Conference power Perk Valley to the limit before falling in OT on Monday night.
PERK VALLEY 70, NESHAMINY 64 (OT)
Neshaminy is ranked 20th in this week’s District One 6A power rankings, and PV is still number one. That didn’t phase the Redskins, who made the trip to Collegeville and extended the Vikings to overtime.
The game featured two of the area’s top scorers pitted against each other with Chris Arcidiacono winning that battle. The ‘Skins junior sharpshooter scored a game-high 33 points, which included three 3-pointers and a perfect 12-for-12 effort at the foul line. He also had six assists and five rebounds. Jaworski finished with 16, which included four threes and a 4-for-4 showing at the charity stripe.
In supporting roles for the Redskins, Anthony Papeo (14 points) and Zach Tredway (10 points) combined for 24 points. Tredway also had five boards. Papeo buried four 3-pointers on a night that saw the Redskins connect on nine shots from beyond the arc.
In a preview of things to come, the ‘Skins and Vikings were deadlocked 15-15 at the end of one quarter, and Neshaminy took a 28-25 lead into halftime. Arcidiacono accounted for 22 of those points. The ‘Skins still led by one 41-40 heading into the final quarter when the Vikings knotted things up.
The Vikings held a 15-9 advantage in a high-scoring overtime, doing most of their damage at the foul line where they connected on 10-of-10. Arcidiacono scored seven of the Redskins’ nine points in OT.
In addition to Jaworski’s 26, Hogan Millheim scored 15 and Andrew Light 13 in a contest that saw just five players contribute scoring for each team.
Neshaminy (9-12, 4-8 SOL) will close out its regular season Tuesday when the ‘Skins will host Pennridge in a non-league game.
