SOUDERTON 10, PENNRIDGE 9
The Indians opened up a 9-4 lead over their neighboring rival late in the third quarter, but any thoughts that they would coast to the finish line were put to rest in a hurry by the visiting Rams, who outscored the Indians 5-1 the rest of the way.
“We went into the game with some pretty precise matchups on defense,” Souderton coach Mark Princehorn said. “JP (Banks) obviously has those guys ready to play, and with him and I, it’s always a battle every single year.
“We knew who we needed to stop, so we threw some things at them, and they had some answers. We changed up our man-to-man scheme and went with the zone concept. They eventually figured it out, and when they figured it out, they started to come back. Right around the end of the third quarter is when they cracked that zone and figured it out.
“That’s a credit to the skill of their offensive guys. We wanted to throw them a lot of looks so they wouldn’t feel comfortable. Luckily, we had built a nice lead to where it was almost like they ran out of time. If they would have figured that out earlier in the game, we could have had some problems. We hit 10 goals, and then we were just hanging on.”
Anchoring the Indians’ defense were sophomores Liam Hannon and Manny Puente, junior Nick Guthre as well as seniors Kain Turner, Luke Atiyeh and Fergus Evanick.
“They’re the ones who really paced the defense,” Princehorn said. “They played defense for the longest time, but all of our midfielders – Stephen Blue and Cole Witoslawski – played some strong ‘D’ too.
“Hats off to them. They put us in a spot where we could build a lead and then preserved the lead for us. It was a very well-rounded team effort. I want to give sophomore Luke Fwawrzynek credit too. He won some clutch face-offs for us in big moments and kind of came of age in that game. It was a great team win.”
Blue and Witoslawski both scored three goals and handed out two assists to lead the Indians. Dylan Anderson had a pair of goals while Walker Martin had a goal and an assist. Matt Rauch chipped in with one goal.
“This is our third game since Friday, and they’ve all been challenging games, but they’re finding a way to win,” Princehorn said.
Axell Beskar recorded 12 saves in goal for the Indians.
Souderton (3-0) will travel to Boyertown Friday for a non-league game, and Pennridge (1-1) will be on the road at Quakertown Thursday for a non-league contest.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 12, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3
CB South got off to a fast start in Wednesday’s non-conference contest, scoring six goals in the first quarter. Plymouth Whitemarsh battled to a 2-2 second quarter and closed out the half on top 8-2.
The third quarter was a battle on both ends and ended 1-1. The final period CB South’s depth showed, and the Titans controlled the ball to finish up 3-0 for the 12-3 final.
The Titans had balanced scoring for the second straight game with seven players scoring goals. Austin Novick had three goals, Angus Ballentine added two goals and two assists, Dylan Grosso and Colin Abbonizio both contributed two goals and an assist while Tyler Walsh, Chase Holley and Jack Cenci each had one goal. Jon Robinson contributed one assist.
Grosso also had three ground balls while Novick had a pair. Abbonizio had one forced turnover.
Defensive standouts, according to coach Mike Strayline, were Austin Warme, Kian Watkins, Jason Christiansen and Max Montrose at the midfield
Once again Tyler Horvath controlled the X, winning 11-of-15 face-offs with Chris Moore backing him up. Moore won 2-of-3 face-offs and also had three ground balls.
Also making contributions were Matthew McDonald (two ground balls, one forced turnover), Jonathan Robinson (two ground balls), Jason Christiansen (two ground balls) and Chrisian Manibo (one ground ball, one forced turnover). Jake Reilly, Jake Scarafone and Liam Britton each were credited with one ground ball. Kian Watkins had one forced turnover.
Colin Bernstein recorded nine saves in goal while Gavin Ostroff had one.

QUAKERTOWN 10, POTTSGROVE 7
Gavin Hillaert had himself a day on Wednesday, singlehandedly outscoring the visiting Falcons with eight goals in a stellar offensive outing.
“He just took high quality shots – nice bounce shots,” coach Jay Donis said. “He took 10 shots total, so he was a sniper out there today.”
Jeff Royall added a goal and two assists while Jake Lewis had one goal and one assist. Mason Smith had one helper.
After back-to-back overtime wins to open the season, Wednesday’s three-goal win was something close to a breather, although the visiting Falcons made things interesting.
The Panthers took a 4-2 lead into halftime, but that lead disappeared in a third quarter that saw the Falcons outscore their hosts 4-2 to knot the score 6-6 heading into the final frame. The Panthers – determined to avoid a third straight overtime game – outscored their visitors 4-1 in the fourth quarter.
Quakertown (3-0) will host Pennridge in a non-league game Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

INTERBORO 9, PENNSBURY 6
The Falcons made the long trek to Interboro and came up just short in Wednesday’s non-league contest. Will Anderson scored four goals to lead the Falcons. Nick Sutton added one goal and two assists, and Avery Dusart had a goal and an assist.
Jake Krefetz won 9-of-14 face-offs and also was credited with five ground balls.
Nico Cione recorded eight saves in goal for the Falcons.
Pennsbury (1-2) will travel to the Pennington School for a non-league game Friday.
NESHAMINY 14, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 6
Neshaminy travelled to New Hope on Wednesday and went home with a victory. Luke Sermarini led all scorers with three goals and one assist. Attackman Nick Donato contributed a goal and distributed three assists. Jeremy Sheley, Dawson Obringer, Noah Weiman and Connor McVey each hit the back of the net twice. McVey also added an assist. Mason Demi and Ryan Maher each had one goal.
"Long pole defense did a nice job of neutralizing a talented Lions' attack," coach John Donato said.
Neshaminy (1-1) is right back on the field on Thursday when it hosts Springfield Township.
