Wissahickon 12, Central Bucks West 5
After a close first quarter, the Trojans defense was nearly airtight the rest of the way in their second straight win over an SOL foe.
Wiss led just 4-3 at the close of the opening period, but the defense held the Bucks to just two more goals the rest of the game. The defensive unit of Jake Licata, Quinn Fonash, Joseph Connolly, Matthew Bauer and Matthew Slovin were able to slow West while goalie Andrew Beans turned away 10 shots.
Offensively, Kyle Lehman contributed nine points with a five-goal, four-assist night to pace Wissahickon. Sam Baker added a hat trick, Nick Donofrio scored two, Gavin Myers scored one and aided two others, Jason Michael contributed a goal and assist, and Jake Slackman slipped in a helper.
The faceoff X was a good battle between both teams. Wissahickon’s Dominic Kemper was 10-of-12 while West’s Matt Jacobsen was a stellar 9-of-12 and Cole Gnutti 3-of-8.
West had five different scorers – Austin Hahn, Matt Jacobsen, Zach Martine, Sam Greenberg, Joe Perry – while Brayden Albrecht chalked up three assists.
Will Shandlay also tallied 10 saves in goal for the Bucks.
Wissahickon (4-3, 1-0 SOL) will travel to William Tennent on Tuesday, and Central Bucks West (4-6, 3-1) will host New Hope-Solebury on Thursday.
