North Penn 9, Central Bucks East 8 (OT)
Lucas Yannul netted the game-winner in overtime, capping a huge rally and giving North Penn a big win over host Central Bucks East in a National Conference game Monday. “I’m super proud of them,” North Penn coach Rick Smith said. “CB East is an outstanding team. They have a great tradition, and our guys battled hard the whole time. They never gave up.”
Making the win even more impressive was the fact that the Knights erased a five-goal, first-half deficit.
“We were down 6-1 in the second quarter – our guys should have packed it in and they didn’t,” Smith said. “After halftime, we made a few adjustments, and the boys came out in the second half, and they really played well,”
The Knights led by two in the fourth quarter before the Patriots came back to tie the score in the closing minutes.
“They actually had possession of the ball, and our goalie made a one-on-one save with less than 10 seconds in regulation – Bryon Rimmer made an unbelievable save and put us into overtime,” Smith said. “In overtime, we won the face-off, we had the ball on offense, and we lost it. CB East had the ball on offense, and they lost it. We got a possession with a minute left in the game, and Lucas Yannul had a matchup with a short stick, and he drove topside, shot and scored the game-winner.
“It was a complete team effort. A lot of people contributed to the scoring. It was a great team victory.”
Rimmer’s official save count was unavailable, but according to Smith, it was close to double digits.
“Bryon Rimmer played unbelievable,” the Knights’ coach said. “He was a difference maker for us today. The amount of saves he had definitely won us the game."
Stephen Rinck had a hat trick in the win while Yannul had a pair of goals. RJ Macnamara, Jack Kim, Jake Homan and Lars Homan had one goal each. Conor Young and Danny Payne each had an assist in the victory while Will Morrow had 10 face-off wins.
“Stephen Rinck has probably hit 10 pipes this season – he was not getting goals, and today he got a hat trick,” Smith said. “He played very, very well today.
“CB East is well coached, great tradition, great players, and to walk away with that victory today was very good for our program."
Ryan Carroll (one assist) and Ryan Eife each had two goals to lead the Patriots while Ryan Gray (one assist), Matt Melendez (one assist), Jimmy Knepp (two assists) and Ben Yerkes each had one goal.
Jake Kueny had four face-off wins and goalie Liam Rosenthal made four saves.
Ryan Stout led the Patriots with five ground balls to go along with one caused turnover, and Evan Bullotta had four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Connor Martin had three ground balls as did Jake Kueny. Kueny also had two caused turnovers.
Gray and Joey Beahan had two ground balls while Carroll and Drew Bethke had one each. Beahan had a pair of caused turnovers, and Eife and Bethke each had one.
North Penn (5-4, 3-0 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Wednesday at 7 p.m. (JV 5:30 p.m.) for its Cancer Awareness night. T-shirts ($10) and baked goods will be for sale, and there will also be donation buckets. All proceeds will benefit two North Penn lacrosse families who are currently battling cancer. Purchase a t-shirt at the game or wear purple to support the Knights against Cancer. Central Bucks East (4-5, 1-2) will travel to Academy of the New Church Thursday for a non-league game.

Pennridge 9, Central Bucks South 3
The Rams’ defense stole the spotlight in Monday’s National Conference win, allowing just one goal over the final three quarters after the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie at the end of one quarter.
“Our defense was very solid,” said Pennridge coach J.P. Banks, lauding the play of his goalie in the win. “Austin (Swartley) played very well, he had 13 saves. This was a good team win.”
Nick Fanelli had four goals and Logan Lazasz netted three to help propel the Rams to the win. Lazasz also had an assist in the victory. Ryan Garner (one assist), Kevin Britner (one assist) and Jack Garner each contributed one goal while goalie Austin Swartley made 13 saves.
Pennridge (5-5, 1-2 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West Tuesday, and Central Bucks South (5-5, 1-2) will host Ridley in a non-league game Thursday.

Council Rock North 8, Haverford 5
Council Rock North picked up a solid win over Haverford High in a non-league game Monday.
“This was good victory for us over a very good Delaware County team,” Council Rock North coach John Fitzpatrick said. “Our defense and our goaltending were outstanding as were our face-offs. Luke Walstrum was great on face-offs and Robbie Kay was outstanding in goal.
“Nick Murray, Patrick Stavcheff, Max Harar, Sean Beverly and Nico Whalen were great on defense.”
Robbie Kay turned away 19 shots in a standout effort in goal for the Indians.
Walstrum led the Indians with a hat trick. Beckett Thompson (three assists), Jimmy O’Donnell, Eddie Fitzpatrick, Peter Lehman and Nathan Lewis had one goal each in the win.
Council Rock North (5-2, 0-2 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Wednesday.
Council Rock South 15, Upper Moreland 2
Council Rock South rolled to a non-league win over visiting Upper Moreland on Monday.
The Golden Hawks, who led 10-1 at halftime, received a game-high four goals from Chase Patterson (who was also 8-of-8 on face-offs) and two goals apiece from Philip Mignacca, Sal Mastromarco and Daniel Scannapieco.
Kyle Gartenmayer (three ground balls), Jack Fagan (four ground balls), Brandon Berghaier and Brendan Malone (one face-off win) had a goal each while Sean Reeser had two ground balls.
Council Rock South (5-5, 1-2 SOL) will host Marple Newtown in a non-league game Tuesday.

Radnor 9, Wissahickon 4
Wissahickon dropped a decision to a very strong Radnor side in a non-league game Monday.
Jackson Intrieri, Brett Lehman, Brody Myers and EJ Schreiner had goals for the Trojans.
Wissahickon (6-3, 2-0 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday.

Pennsbury 12, Pennridge 11
The Falcons are making heart-stopping finishes a habit. For the third time in their last four games, the final outcome came down to the wire.
Avery Dysart brightened a dismal Friday night for the Falcons – who led by two at halftime – when he scored the game-winner as time expired in regulation.
“It was pouring rain, torrential rain,” coach Drew Artin said. “Just when you thought it was slowing down another wave would come.
“It became a nail-biter, but at the same time, we’ve been there before. We’re just having a lot of fun with this group. The boys are playing for each other out there. We never feel like we’re out of the fight. We might be down, but we’re never out. Everyone played well.
“Pennridge is a very tough team, well coached, a very strong program. I think we came out ready to play. Knowing Pennridge was a tough opponent was maybe a motivator for us to really pick it up.”
Dysart finished the game with a goal and two assists. Colby Seneca's two goals and two assists led a balanced Falcon attack. Nick Sutton, Will Anderson and Jesse Keaton each contributed two goals and one assist. Ryan DeZutel, Will Cusick and Ethan Heugler each added one goal to close out the scoring.
“We came out and scored two or three unanswered goals,” Artin said. “Our offense was moving the ball well, carrying it well and valuing possessions.
“Colby Seneca had a fantastic game offensively for us. We had eight different scorers. Ethan Heugler is a defender for us, and he picked off a pass in transition when we were riding and ended up going to the cage and scoring. He’s one of those kids – we do goals, and one of his personal goals this year was to score a goal. It was really cool to see him score. He’s put in a lot of time. He’s worked really hard in our offseason program, and I’m really proud of him.”
Heugler and Cusick scooped up four and three ground balls, respectively, and Charlie Nuschke was credited with six ground balls. Bryse Raniello added four.
Jake Krefetz was once again dominant at the face-off X, winning 18 of 25 face-offs. He also led the team with eight ground balls.
“Once again Jake Krefetz was a beast at face-off – he’s done a fantastic job,” Artin said. “The stat book said he had eight ground balls, but I think he had 15.
“He just has been winning pretty much every face-off for us.”
Goalie Luke Nolan was credited with nine saves in a winning effort.
Friday’s win was the sixth in seven games for the Falcons, who are 4-1 in games decided by two goals or less this season. Artin credited his team’s success in large part to the offseason program of coach Greg Mackrides
“We had the biggest buy-in we’ve ever had from the kids, and it’s definitely translating to the success we’re having right now,” the Falcons’ coach said. “The chemistry that we’re building with the team – it’s all come directly from that.”
Pennsbury (6-3, 1-1 SOL) is off until Tuesday, April 23, when the Falcons will host Central Bucks South.
