“We have had a really tough schedule so far this year, and the team has stayed focused on getting better each game.”
The Titans, who trailed 4-1 after one quarter, trailed by just one at halftime (7-6) and then played lockdown defense in the second half, limiting the Bucks to just two goals while the Titans scored six.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 7, Wissahickon 6 (OT)
If ever there was an evenly matched game, this was it. The two teams were deadlocked at the end of one quarter (2-2), halftime (4-4), at the end of three quarters (5-5) and at the end of regulation (6-6). It took
overtime to determine a winner with the Colonials coming up with the dramatic win.
“It was a fun high school lacrosse game,” Wissahickon coach Dave Sowers said.
The Colonials won in dramatic fashion.
After tying the game late in the fourth quarter to force overtime, Colonials’ senior attack Ben Backenstose scored the game-winning goal with under a minute left to play.
The Colonials began the overtime period with a faceoff win by junior LSM/defenseman/FO Isaiah Bainbridge. Plymouth Whitemarsh then possessed the ball for the majority of the overtime period but was unable to score. After a turnover, Wissahickon obtained possession and called a timeout. However, with under a minute of game play left, the tandem of Bainbridge and junior defenseman Jackosn Budin combined for a caused turnover and ground ball leading to a Colonials timeout. Using the timeout to set up an offensive play, the Colonials, looking to score with limited time left, called Backesnstose’s number. Backenstose took possession of the ball behind the net, dodged around the corner post, and placed the ball in the back of the goal to score the game-winner.
This was a big step forward for this program and was a total team effort,” said PW coach Ryan Bonnani. “Wissahickon is a very good, well-coached lacrosse program. Both teams fought extremely hard for 52 minutes. We were fortunate to come away with the win.”
The Colonial also received scoring output from juniors Luke LaViola (1G, 2CTO, 2GB), Caiden Lesczcynski (1G, 1A), and Scott Marguiles (1G), as well as from sophomores Drew Strohl (2G, 1A, 3CTO, 2GB), Jack Cooper (1G, 2CTO), and Dylan Ippolito (1A, 1GB). Backenstose also contributed to the win with an assist.
The defense was led by the trio of Bainbridge (5CTO, 7GB, 6 for 10 FO), Frank Lynch (2CTO, 3GB), and Jackson Budin (2CTO, 1GB), while also receiving solid efforts from Dylan Imperial (1CTO), Alex Frangiosa (1CTO), and Connor Rarrick (2GB). Sophomore goalie Mason Best had 8 aaves giving the Colonials a solid performance in the net.
For the Trojans, Austin Myers led a balanced attack with two goals, one assist and four ground balls. Harrison Paul and Chase Comer both had one goal and one assist. Paul also had five ground balls while Comer had two. Charlie Stehlik had one goal and three assists, and Noah Stomsky added one goal and two ground balls.
Also for the Trojans, Dan Hussa had eight ground balls and four caused turnovers, Logan Bruno added four ground balls and two caused turnovers, Nolan Reilly contributed five ground balls, Carmen Schoppe had three ground balls, and both Charlie Hussa and Nolan Pounds each had two ground balls.
Wissahickon goalie Kyle Crump recorded four saves on 11 shots and also had two ground balls. Nolan Reilly was 10-for-15 at the faceoff X.

Abington 7, New Hope-Solebury 2
Abington won its second game in as many days and evened its record in conference play.
“I think it is really showing now that we’re in the league that playing all those tough teams early is helping us out,” Abington coach Mike Duffy said. “We look like we’re ahead of the curve. Guys are moving really well off ball as of late, which I think is just a product of them seeing the field a bit better. Now they can see those openings out there against a defense that closes them up a little slower.”
Matt Miller’s three-goal and one-assist effort led the Ghosts.
“Matt leads the offensive charge for us a lot,” Duffy said. “Typically, when we score, it’s a product of him either going to the net or the defense being out of position because they’re accounting for him on the field. He did really well.”
Connor Sullivan added two goals, and freshman Conor Chapin – just up from JV – made an immediate impact, scoring one goal and adding a pair of assists.
“Our freshman X attackman Will Woll has been out for the last week, and we didn’t have any attack players left because we had two go down already, so we brought Conor up,” Duffy said. “He’s really been impressing us, just his movement behind goal. He moves really well. He’s a scrappy little guy, but he’s fearless out there.
“You have to give Connor Sullivan and Conor props because they’re the two young freshmen who are playing well for us right now.”
Also for the Ghosts, Matt Giannattasio scored one goal and Liam Cabry had two assists.
Abington (4-10, 4-2 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon on Thursday, and New Hope-Solebury (4-7, 2-5) will be on the road at William Tennent on Thursday.

The Ghosts led 3-0 after one quarter, and the opening quarter pretty much proved to be the difference in the game.
“We led early, and it was pretty even from there on out,” Abington coach Mike Duffy said. “Horsham has a lot of young guys from what I understand as well, and they battled. It was back and forth and back and forth.”
Freshman attackman Connor Sullivan’s four-point game led the Ghosts and included two goals and two assists. Liam Cabry added a hat trick, Matt Miller added two goals and one assist, and Andrew Suit contributed one goal and one assist. Close defender Connor Penderghest went coast to coast for a goal.
