SOL National Conference
Pennridge 15, Central Bucks South 14 (OT)
Matt Seiler’s lone goal of Tuesday night’s slugfest proved the most important.
Seiler scored in the sudden-victory overtime to hand the Rams a comeback win after they entered the fourth quarter trailing the Titans by a goal. Pennridge forced the extra period with a 4-3 edge in the final period.
“Ben Souder won the faceoff and we got a timeout to settle down the offense and talk to them. The offense had a great possession and waited for a good shot,” Rams coach Chris Pianko said. “Matt Seiler got the ball off the end line after backing up a shot with about 1:30 left in the first overtime. He won his matchup to the middle of the field and scored while falling down.”
There’s was no mistaking the significance of Tuesday’s win.
“This was huge for our team,” Pianko said. “We are very young this year, and the experience to finish out and win these close games will hopefully build a foundation that we can continue to carry through the rest of the year and into next year.”
In regulation, it was South – playing in its sixth OT game of the season – that made the comeback after falling behind 5-1 at the end of the first quarter. Nick Fareno had four goals and four assists for the Titans, Reese Levinson scored four and assisted on another and Keith Conner had two goals and an assist for South.
Ryan Gordon also had a productive game with two goals and two assists, Brady Hinkle and Jon Fitts also scored one goal apiece. John Henson had a goal, two caused turnovers and two ground balls while Anthony Depedro won nine faceoffs and had eight ground balls.
Kevin Friedman stopped seven shots for South. The Titans dropped a second straight overtime decision after falling to CR South in extra time on Monday.
Seiler had the winner for the Rams, but he only got there thanks to significant contributions across the board.
Souder was excellent on the X, winning 19-of-27 faceoffs while Ryan Carickhoff put away six goals for the Rams. Luke Lenox had a hat trick plus an assist as did Drew Ferguson while Frankie Fanelli was in with two goals scored and two assists.
Kieran Banks had nine saves and Tyler Vandermark made four for Pennridge.
“Ben Souder played great at the faceoff X,” Pianko said. “Ryan Carickoff had six goals, which I think might be a career high for him.
“Tyler Vandermark filled in at goalie after Kieran got hurt at the end of the third quarter.”

Council Rock North 12, Neshaminy 5
Faceoff wins don’t always directly translate to goals, but controlling the X always helps.
Ryan Dellinger did just that for the Indians on Tuesday, taking 13-of-18 draws on the faceoff X to help CR North to a fast start. Coupled with a rambunctious defensive effort that generated a lot of caused turnovers, it was a recipe for a good win.
Timmy Shaffer turned away 10 shots in goal for North, while Erik Urbaniak, Ethan Stanford, Surya Panneer and Noah Epstein turned away Neshaminy’s attack and midfielders in front of him with a tenacious defensive effort.
Dean Scalamandre paced North’s offense with a huge day that included a hat trick plus five assists and five ground balls. Sammy Lewis tallied four goals, Andrew Zazoff had four points with a hat trick and assist and Tyler Rodowicz scored a goal. Dylan Kavanaugh added a goal and three ground balls.

The Patriots didn’t score in the fourth quarter, and it didn’t matter.
A resolute defensive effort held the Falcons to a single goal through three quarters while the offense poured it on in the third to back up a solid first half. East, which led 4-0 at intermission, won the third by a 6-1 margin.
Nils Updale gave East plenty of opportunities with a dominant 15-of-17 showing on the faceoff X and even added on a goal as a sweetener for his efforts.
Luke Christmas set the tone offensively for the Patriots with a hat trick and an assist, Nick Knepp had two goals and a helper, Pat Coleman scored twice, Thomas Williams scored one and assisted one and Matt Bowen rounded out East’s scoring. Defensively, Adrian Widdows forced two turnovers.

Will McCabe had two ground balls plus two caused turnovers, Tom Pedicone caused a turnover and gathered a pair of ground balls and Hunter Long was responsible for a caused turnover and ground ball. Justin Chong helped out by grabbing three ground balls and David Benjamin added two caused turnovers to his line on top of a goal, assist and 5-of-12 wins on faceoffs.

Council Rock South 10, Holy Ghost Prep 9 (OT)
On Senior Night, senior attackman Antti Auture scored the game-winning goal in a dramatic come-from-behind win. Sal Mastromarco scored with two seconds to go in regulation to force overtime. It was the second OT win in as many nights for the Golden Hawks.

ABINGTON 7, COATESVILLE 6 (2 OTs)
The Ghosts won an overtime thriller when Oscar Hoffman found the net with the game-winner with 1:30 remaining in the second OT. While Hoffman stole the spotlight with his OT goal, the Ghosts’ defenders – Billy Greiner, Pat Fischer and Conor Penderghest with Patch Garry and Mason Glemser at LSM – were unquestionably the unsung heroes and saved the day quite literally for Abington.
“Our defense shut Coatesville out for 30 minutes of play, not allowing a goal in the second half or either OT period,” said Abington coach Michael Duffy, whose team trailed 6-3 at halftime but outscored the Red Raiders 4-0 the rest of the way.
In addition to Hoffman, Ben Markham had two goals and one assist while Benny Suit and Andrew Herman both had two goals. Spence Lowery, Liam Frazier and Sean Lare each contributed an assist.
