District 1 1A semifinal
#3 NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 2, #6 PLUMSTEAD CHRISTIAN 0
The dream season lives on for the Lions, and just one win separates them from a district title. Quite a turnaround for a squad that won all of three games last year.
“The guys are really excited they’ve been working hard all year with this goal in mind and are definitely enjoying the moment,” coach Chris Van Pelt said.
Luca Tersigni had a hand in both of his team’s goals, and his unassisted goal in the 26th minute stood as the game-winner.
In the 66th minute, Will Malone added an insurance goal, using a Tersigni assist.
Scoring Summary
First half
Luca Tersigni (NH-S) 26th minute
Second half
Will Malone (NH-S) from Luca Tersigni 66th minute
New Hope-Solebury coach Christ Van Pelt on the game: “First have to give credit to Plumstead for a well-played hard fought match.
“Not our best night in front of goal, but we managed the game well and got the result which is what really matters. We came out a little slow and had to find our way into the game, but we eventually settled in and had some good moments and moved the ball really well at times.”
–Special season: “It’s been an incredible season so far, but we know there’s still a lot more to play for this year. This is a really talented group that I believe can achieve a lot this year, but we know we can’t abandon the things that have gotten us to this point and get too far ahead of ourselves. We’re excited to be where we’re at and ready to work for what’s ahead.”
Up next: New Hope-Solebury (13-6, 6-4 SOL) will face top-seeded Calvary Christian in Tuesday’s District 1 1A title game at a site and time to be determined.
