CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, SOUDERTON 1
Midway through the first half, Pat VanLuvanee made a great diving save on a shot from Drew Kerns, and Souderton’s Tannor Wiszneski was first to knock in the rebound. But less than a minute later, Tyler Jaskelewicz beat his man in the 18 and was taken down from behind to earn the penalty kick. Anthony Bice stepped up and scored the game-tying goal.
Ten minutes later, Pat VanLuvanee dropped a dangerous ball on the penalty spot, and Evan Jaskelewicz finished the scoring chance to give CB South a 2-1 lead going into half.
In the second half, it remained a tight game until Anthony Bice broke through and put the game away to give CB South the 3-1 victory on their Senior Night.
Both teams will advance to the District 1 4A Tournament.
Souderton’s 15 wins is the most in the regular season for at least 20 years.
By the Numbers:
First Half
Tannor Wiszneski (S)
Anthony Bice (CBS)
Evan Jaskelewicz (CBS)
Second Half
Anthony Bice (CBS) from Josh Dozier
Central Bucks South coach Ed Brnardic on the win: “It was heartbreaking that we lost our most talented player, Brennan Franklin, to injury on Monday, and he couldn’t get on the field for Senior Night. But it was special to have our other 11 seniors start and end the game together.
“We kept three or four of our best players on the bench for the first 15 minutes to give all of our seniors a nice run on the field together, and it was great that they got the opportunity to finish the game the same way. I’ve only known most of these guys for three months, but it was difficult for me to accept that this was their last regular season game together. Pat VanLuvanee, Chase Sauder, Sean Clevenstine, Evan Rumford, Andrew Sherstynov, Ryan Kealy, Christian Canally, Miraziz Melikov, Myroslav Lepuha, Anthony Bice and Evan Jaskelewicz. These are my guys.
–The goals: “Less than a minute after Souderton scored on a scramble in front of our goal, Tyler Jaskelewicz did all the work in the 18-yard box and was fouled which set up an Anthony Bice penalty kick goal. Then 10 minutes later, Evan Jaskelewicz scored for the second time in as many games to give us the lead going into halftime.
“Our third goal came from a fantastic through ball from Josh Dozier to Anthony Bice and sent him in 1:1 with the Souderton keeper to close out the game.”
–Props:
For goalkeeper Pat Vanluvanee: “Player of the game for us again. The saves were special. And what can you say about our goalie when he dribbles up to midfield and drops a ball in a dangerous scoring area to give us the lead? But Pat is our player of the game again because he’s such a valuable leader for our team. He never gets fazed, he’s always on, he understands the game at a professional level, he displays amazing character, and he’s humble. He is our captain.
For Josh Dozier and Tyler Jaskelwicz: “They owned the midfield for us today. Josh thwarted so many attacks, and TJ created several goal scoring chances. They are our midfield dynamo.”
For Anthony Bice: “Two goals again today and 20 goals this season. And every goal this year was scored when the game was competitive. And several assists to go with it. Anthony is a guy who quietly leads by example. Anthony knows how to deal with adversity – he never argues, never gets fazed, and always gives his best effort. This is why we named him as our second captain a couple weeks ago.”
For Christian Canally: “We recognized that Cameron Taylor was Souderton’s best player, so we put Christian Canally to man-mark him. Christian made a promise to our team that he was going to sacrifice himself today for the benefit of the team. He did a fantastic job! Cameron is such a dangerous player, he’s so explosive, so strong on the dribble and he can change a game. Such a great player and an even greater person (I have coached him for a couple years in club ball).”
For Evan Rumford: “Evan has been our unsung hero all year long. He never gets the accolades because of the position he plays, but he’s been so solid defensively, and he’s a catalyst for our counterattack. Evan is a coach’s dream. He’s my guy that I go to for instructions to communicate to the team, and he’s extremely dependable. I’m thrilled that Evan got to walk off the field on his senior night as a league champion.”
Souderton coach Frank DeMas on the game: “It’s never fun to lose, but we played well and worked hard. The biggest takeaway was our attitude and the class we showed in the loss. We can’t control what the other team does and says, but Souderton kept their cool and represented Souderton really well”
–Props for Souderton: “Tannor Wiszneski was incredible today. He tied Coach Bill’s regular season goal record today for Souderton.”
–Props for East: “Shoutouts to East goalkeeper (Pan Vanluvanee) who was incredible today and (Anthony) Bice up top, who scored a PK and a late breakaway when we were pushing numbers forward.”

Non-league
UPPER DUBLIN 1, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (OT)
Freshman Adriano Roman turned a Corey Abramson pass into the game-winner in Friday’s non-league game.
The win sends the Cardinals into the District 1 4A Tournament on a high note.
Scoring Summary
First half – no score
Second half – no score
1st overtime
Adriano Roman (UD) from Corey Abramson 87th minute
Upper Dublin coach Noah Johnson on the win: “What we did really well was we started off early. We didn’t wait to start playing like we typically do. As we head into the playoffs, we’re focusing on certain things that we’re going to need to do in the playoffs. It was nice to see everything come along at the beginning of the game and us not fall flat at the beginning of the game.
“Obviously, getting this win was so important for confidence alone. It doesn’t really make a difference for us, but confidence-wise, it felt really good for us, and hats off to the boys for that.”
–The game-winner: “The ball was bouncing around. Corey Abramson was able to win a header to hit the ball to Jackson Bryan, who flipped the ball in for Corey, who ran by him. Corey was then able to go 1v1 with the defender and kick out a pass to Adriano, who was able to finish it one-time from probably outside of the box – honestly, I’m not sure, but Adriano was able to blast it past the keeper into the far left post to win us the game in overtime.”
–Props: “Adriano (Roman), my freshman, continues to keep finding ways to win us the game. (Goalkeeper) Anthony Ginaldi once again had a heck of a game. Ben Goettel for making a goal line save to help us out in overtime, and Reilly McLaughlin for once again just always stepping up when his number is called, and he definitely was a big factor in us winning the game today – especially missing two of our star players (Jimmy Smith and Chase Rappaport).”
