Lex Lenoir and Mike Morini each scored a goal – both unassisted – to lead the Golden Hawks to the non-league win Wednesday.
Rock South goalkeeper Andrew Roberto recorded eight saves, which included a stop of a penalty kick midway through the second half with the Golden Hawks clinging to a 1-0 lead.
“It was a vital moment in the game because Ghost put up some chances to score, but couldn’t find the finishing touch,” Rock South coach Alan Nicholl said. “Ten minutes later, Morini scored to go 2-0 and give us some breathing room.
“We missed a couple of golden chances to add more late, but it would have been misleading how tight the two teams played.”
Holy Ghost Prep’s Liam Fleming scored with 30 second remaining to prevent the shutout.
Council Rock South (2-2-1, 1-2-1 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy Thursday.
