SOL Patriot Division
Neshaminy 1, Council Rock North 0
Jayson Morris scored the game winner in the 60th minute, as Neshaminy picked up a huge 1-0 win over CR North in the chase for the Patriot Division title and seeding for the upcoming District One Class 4A playoffs.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie the first time they played last month.
“It was a really good team effort,” said Neshaminy coach Tom Foley, whose team entered the day at No. 24 in the district
power rankings. ”This should give us a little boost up (in the district rankings), a little cushion if we have another hiccough along the way.
“Overall, we really dug down and played a really solid game tonight.”
Scoring Summary:
First Half – No score
Second Half –
Jayson Morris (N), 60th minute
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley: “The first half Rock South had the wind, and the ball was in our end more. I thought we held up well defensively. We didn’t really give them any clean looks. They got a couple shots from distance that (goalie) Dylan Cloud ate up pretty easily, so I was pleased that we got out of the half with no goals.
“We had the second half wind, and we took advantage of it. We were down in their end a lot.”
–The game-winner: “About halfway through the second half, we got a foul at the top of the 18. It was on the right side, so it set up perfect for Jayson Morris, who’s a left-sided player, so we decided to let him take the free kick. He hit the wall, but he collected his own rebound off the wall, went to his left and he hit a seed past the goalkeeper. The kid got a hand on it, but it went into the side panel. It was a real nice goal.
“We held them off. We didn’t really give them too many good looks. Again, shots from distance that Dylan ate up pretty
easily. He managed the box really well at the end of the game and milked some time off the clock for us, which was great.”
–Props: “Overall, I want to give kudos to our back four. We shuffled the deck and had a couple new guys back there. Dean Goodwin has been back there, and Chris Reed, we moved him from the right side to the left side and put Julian Shaw in the middle with Dean, and we moved Connor Choi to the back on the right side. They played an outstanding game today. They locked down really well. Connor Choi was exceptional tonight, probably played the best game I’ve seen him play in a Neshaminy uniform.”
Council Rock North varsity assistant Brian Hoffman: “It was a good rematch from the first time we played them that we tied 0-0.
“The pivotal goal came in the 60th minute. We gave up a restart that they fired into the wall, and the rebound came back to the shooter, he took one touch and took the cover off the ball. (Elias) Berman, our goaltender, got a piece of it but not enough to push it wide of the net.
“It’s going to come down to us, Neshaminy and (CR) South. It will be pretty pivotal what we can do over the next three games to hopefully win the league title.”
Up next: Council Rock North will travel to Council Rock South Thursday (7pm), and Neshaminy will be on the road at Pennsbury Thursday (7pm).
CR North 0 0 – 0
Neshaminy 0 1 – 1
Council Rock South 8, Harry S. Truman 0
Reid Van Demark lit up the scorebooks in this one, with three goals and three assists. Six first-half goals for CR South set the tone for this lopsided win over Harry S. Truman.
“Today was a strong showing for us,” said Golden Hawks assistant coach Zach Orenstein. “It is always good to go on the road and come back with all 3 points. We were very pleased with the creativity and chances created.
“We have been playing well, but we are continuing to get better each game. I think our best soccer is still coming.”
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Reid Van Demark (CRS) from Ryan Leyman

Pennsbury 4, Bensalem 3
The Falcons fell behind 2-0 in the first 10 minutes and still trailed 2-1 at halftime, but they were able to battle back, and in the 76th minute, Duncan Reed scored on a rebound shot to give Pennsbury the huge comeback win over Bensalem.
Although Bensalem came up short, there was a lot for coach Kevin Bock to like about his team’s performance. For starters, the Owls scored three goals after being shutout in four straight games. Tuesday’s game was a marked contrast to their 9-0 loss in their early season meeting with Pennsbury and underscored the Owls’ improvement.
“I thought the effort was much better on our part, especially considering how poorly we played against Pennsbury the first game,” Bock said.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Chase Esposito (B) from Jordan Posten, 1st minute
Chase Esposito (B) from Brandon Bock, 10th minute
Karolis Bubias (P) from Finn Burke, 36th minute
Second Half –
John Nuefville (P) from Duncan Reed, 57th minute
Ryan Matthews (P), PK, 64th minute
Brian Bock (B) from Chris Fielding, 65th minute
Duncan Reed (P), 76th minute.
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
–On the game: “We had not scored a goal in four games and figured Pennsbury would come out a little slow as they beat us pretty handily the first game. We made a few adjustments to our lineup and focused on starting the game strong. The strategy worked early as we scored within the first minute of the game when Jordan Posten tracked down a ball in the box and was able to cross it into the middle where Chase Esposito was able to finish. We kept the pressure on for the next several minutes and were able to go up 2-0 when Brandon Bock slotted a ball into Chase on the right side that he was able to finish for his second goal of the game. As the first half wore on, we lost some momentum and Pennsbury was able to get a goal before the end of the half.
“The second half started opposite the way the first half did with Pennsbury coming out firing. We struggled to match their intensity with Pennsbury finally breaking through a little less than halfway through the half. Pennsbury eventually went up 3-2 on a PK; however, we responded within a minute of them scoring when Ben Reinert played a free kick into the box that Chris Fielding was able to lay off for Brian Bock to finish. The game was back and forth for a bit until Pennsbury ultimately got the game winner that somehow found its way under our goalie.”
Up next: Pennsbury will host Neshaminy on Thursday (7pm), and Bensalem will host Harry S Truman on Thursday.
Bensalem 2 1 – 3

Central Bucks East 3, Pennridge 2
Two first-half goals by Aidan Pasternak set the tone early on Senior Night at CB East, and the Patriots held off visiting Pennridge in the second half for the 3-2 victory.
Jack Thibeault also scored for CB East.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Aidan Pasternak (CBE) from Matt Walloff, 12th minute
Aidan Pasternak (CBE) from Dustin Weber, 17th minute
Austin Keller (P)
Second Half –
Jack Thibeault (CBE) from Dustin Weber
Conor Burke (P) from Sam Turco
Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn: “It was all around a very good game. Massive props and respect to coach Rapsinski and the Pennridge kids. They really fought hard. Especially props to their goalie. Their goalie made unbelievable saves and kept them in the game. Our guys really had a hard time finding a way to get past him.
“For us, it was Senior Night. I want to give props to all our seniors.”
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski:
“We didn’t play our best in the first 20 mins and gave up two early goals. It was (CB East’s) Senior Night, so they came out all amped up for their seniors and capitalized on some chances.
“They’re really dangerous on their long throws and set pieces. We clawed one back with about 10 minutes in the half off a corner. The ball bounced around a bit before Austin Keller was able to poke it in.
“We played really tough in the second half. We withstood a lot of pressure and a lot of chances from them. They scored with 3:30 left, but Conor Burke was able to claw another back with 2:30 left in the game. Sam Turco had the assist. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.”
Up next: Central Bucks East will host Souderton on Thursday (4pm), and Pennridge will host North Penn Thursday (7pm).
Pennridge 1 1 – 2
CB East 2 1 – 3

Central Bucks South 8, North Penn 1
The Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 when Carson Schell scored from the top of the 18-yard box. Midway through the first half CB South was awarded a penalty kick when a Lucas Tyson head ball deflected off the outstretched arm of a North Penn defender, and Josh Dozier stepped up to convert and tie the match. CB South went on to score the next 7 goals on their way to an 8-1 victory at Titan Stadium.
Lucas Tyson and Jackson Tait both had two goals each for the Titans.
By the Numbers:
First Half –
Carson Schell (NP)
Josh Dozier (CBS)
Lucas Tyson (CBS) from AJ Okoniewski
Lucas Tyson (CBS) from Luca Yencha
Second Half –
Josh Dozier (CBS) from TJ Jaskelewicz
Finn Commins (CBS) from AJ Okoniewski
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Luca Yencha
Jackson Tait (CBS) from Jose Lucas Avila
Andriy Popelnytskiy (CBS) from Nate Monser
CB South coach Ed Brnardic: “Midway through the first half it was 1-1, and things were just not going our way. North Penn striker Carson Schell scores a gorgeous goal against us – full credit to him, he made a great move and buried his shot into the bottom corner. We had several glorious chances to score, but North Penn goalkeeper Brady Schwengles was having the game of his life. It seemed like his arms were flying out of his body like Inspector Gadget to make some incredible saves.
“Coach Ditri and I looked at each other, and we thought the same thing. How about freshman Luca Yencha? We put Luca in, and he immediately changed the game. From his first touch, he set up an attacking play, and a few minutes later it was his run and his effort that forced a corner kick. It was that corner that AJ Oknoniewski delivered a perfect ball that Lucas headed into the North Penn goal to give us the 2-1 lead. A few minutes later it was Luca Yencha delivering a beautiful cross, again to an attacking Lucas Tyson to give us the 3-1 lead going into the half time.
“Luca Yencha wasn’t done. In the second half he made another hard run to keep the ball in bounds, beat his defender and played a beautiful ball into an on-rushing Jackson Tait who buried the ball.
– Props: “Our player of the game was Luca Yencha. He did his best prime Luka Modric impersonation today. Nate Monser had a great game both on the field and also in goal (he got an assist on the final goal of the game from his keeper position), Jackson Tait scored two more goals, Lucas Tyson kept his scoring streak going by adding another two today and our midfield of AJ Okoniewski, Tyler Jaskelewicz and Josh Dozier ran hard and contributed to the score sheet.”
Up next: North Penn will travel to Pennridge on Thursday (7pm), and Central Bucks South will be on the road at Central Bucks West (7pm).
CB South 3 5 – 8
North Penn 1 0 – 1
Souderton 2, Central Bucks West 1
Nate Scotti scored the overtime game-winner as Souderton celebrated Senior Night by winning its seventh straight game, edging CB West in an important Colonial Division game.
“Shoutout to all of our seniors tonight,” Souderton coach Frank DeMas said.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
CB West goal
Fin Williams (S), free kick
Overtime –
Nate Scotti (S)
Souderton coach Frank DeMas:
“The entire game was played with a lot of intensity and passion. CB West jumped on us early and scored one minute into the game. They put some more pressure on us, but we did eventually settle down.
“The response to going down was great. We got it together and got our goal courtesy of a Fin Williams free kick.
“The rest of the game was pretty back and forth. A couple chances for both teams. They had a real good spell in the second half. But again, our goalkeeper and defense stood strong.
“Rafalowski was incredible for CB West all game. Huge shout out to him!
– OT winner: “Nate Scotti, on his Senior Night, scored his first ever varsity goal. And it was an incredible shot. He’s been so strong defensively all year, but tonight he scored when really needed him.”
Up next: Souderton will travel to Central Bucks East Thursday (4pm), and Central Bucks West will host Central Bucks East Thursday (7pm).

Abington 2, Upper Dublin 0
First-half goals by Jaza Vasquez and Carter Shannon held up as first-place Abington blanked Upper Dublin by a 2-0 score on Tuesday night.
The two teams tied in their previous match 1-1.
Scoring Summary:
First Half –
Jaza Vasquez (A) from Sean Westmoreland, 17th minute
Carter Shannon (A), 27th minute
Second Half –
No score
Upper Dublin coach Noah Johnson: “We just had a poor performance, but I’m not upset with the boys at all. It’s definitely hard to be in school all day, go and play away at that stadium. It’s already a challenge enough with the grass and the surface, and then to have to do that super late at night, it’s one of those things.
“These poor performances are starting to catch up to us a little bit. I’m looking forward to the next four games and seeing what we can do because right now we’re fighting to stay in it to make the playoffs. We just have to refocus tomorrow, get ready for Thursday and hopefully have a good end of the year and get the wins that we need to keep us alive.”
Up next: Abington will host Wissahickon Thursday (7pm), and Upper Dublin will host Quakertown on Thursday.

Hatboro-Horsham 3, Quakertown 0
After a scoreless first half, Hatboro-Horsham broke free with three straight in the second half to put away Quakertown 3-0 in a physical SOL Liberty Division game.
Louis Matullo, Kevin Long and Finn Marsden each scored for the Hatters.
Scoring Summary:
Second Half –
Louis Matullo (HH), Penalty kick, 52nd minute
Kevin Long (HH) from Louis Matullo, 69th minute
Finn Marsden (HH) from Kevin Long, 73rd minute
Hatboro-Horsham assistant coach Tim Enge:
–On the game: “In the first half, they keyed on Nick Belizzie. We started a 4-4-2, and he was one of our two forwards. He was getting the treatment. They were making sure he didn’t get loose, and he kept fighting through it, and two kids earned yellow cards for fouling him, and he kept his head.
“Eventually, what happened was they ended up with three kids that got soft reds, and they were mostly due to – they’re a physical team. They come out to play hard, get in your head and make sure you’re not getting free challenges. It worked for them in the first half, so their coach did the right thing. We had chances, but we were frustrated. The refs were calling it tight. Basically, he earned the fact that they lost two of their starters, and we were able to open it up a little bit.”
–The game-winner: “The first goal was an interesting play. Louis Matullo was coming down from the left. He tried to put a ball in, it got blocked right back to him. He tried to put another ball in, it got blocked right back to him. At this point, he was in the box, and in a very professional soccer play, he got position on the defender. When he had position on the defender, he slowed down and tried to take a shot, and he kind of got run over, so they called the penalty.
“Normally, we don’t have the person who gets fouled take it, but I allowed him to, and he stepped up and it was not even a question, he just drilled it into the right corner.”
–Goals two & three: “Kevin Long scored a good goal off a header from a corner in the 69th minute. Louis (Matullo) hit a nice left-footed corner from that side, and Kevin, who is a center midfielder who plays 80 minutes a game, came out and put that ball in. He was just named our third captain on Thursday, and he played a real good game again.
“Our third goal was a shot from Louis that deflected back to Kevin Long, who took a shot that was headed toward the far post but would have gone wide. Finn Marsden came in and cleaned it up.”
–Props: “Kevin Long played a great game and Louis Matullo. It was 3-0, and that means a shutout. I started with Will Fisher and Finn Marsden at center back, but Lucas Smith switched real soon, so Lucas Smith and Will, along with Ryan Brosso and freshman Leighton Saxer.
“(Coach) Kyle (McGrath) and I both agree you give credit to the defense for a shutout and to freshman goalie Owen Fagan in his fourth start in goal. Once we score one, our goal is always to go for the shutout. It was pretty much a good full team effort.”
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh Thursday (7pm), and Quakertown will be on the road at Upper Dublin Thursday.

Springfield Twp 2, Lower Moreland 1 (OT)
For a while, it looked like neither team would find the net in regulation in Tuesday’s Freedom Division showdown, but with eight minutes remaining, Matty Corcoran scored with an assist from Henry Hasty to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.
But not for long.
Three minutes later, Lower Moreland scored the equalizer, and the stage was set for overtime.
Roman Corcoran scored two minutes into OT to give Springfield the revenge win over the archrival Lions that put the Freedom Division title chase in a bit of chaos.
Both teams have one loss in the division with three games remaining. Springfield is the three-time defending division champion.
Scoring Summary:
Second Half –
Matty Corcoran (S) from Henry Hasty, 72nd minute
Lower Moreland goal, 75th minute
Overtime-
Roman Corcoran (S) from Patrick Schugsta, 82nd minute
Springfield coach Dan Meder:
–An important win: ” It definitely helps us in the postseason when you talk about seeding for the playoffs. It’s a huge win. It helps us both ways, so we’re excited about that for both the Freedom Division and the postseason.
–On the game: “Lower Moreland had a lot of momentum when they scored (three minutes after we did). It was a shame we had let up the goal, because I thought we played really well the entire game. We generated some good chances and just couldn’t finish. When we finally got one, we were a little relieved, and then we let up a corner kick, and they scored on the corner kick.
“It was like, oh boy, sometimes soccer goes that way. You can play really well and lose. I thought we played well, and I’m glad we get the points out of it.”
–Game winner: “I thought for the most part the flow of play was in our favor. We just had trouble putting a good shot on goal. The ball’s bouncing around there, and Roman Corcoran got on the end of it and made sure he put it away.”
–Props: “Other than the guys that scored, I thought our defense was excellent. Dillon Gray, Daniel Caruso, Will McLaughlin, Brendan Noonan were really good today. Our wins have been very much team wins. Harry Bates didn’t have any statistics today, but he was a major focus for them. They send a lot of defense his way, and that frees things up for other people. He was really good, but everybody who played played well.”
Up next: Springfield Twp will be on the road at William Tennent, and Lower Moreland will travel to New Hope Solebury Thursday.
Springfield 0 1 1 – 2
Lower Moreland 0 1 0 -0
William Tennent 1, Cheltenham 0
Scoreless almost throughout, Tennent broke the tie and earned the division win when Liam Manning scored in the 68th minute as the Panthers edged Cheltenham on Tuesday afternoon.
“Good game,” said Tennent assistant coach Nick D’Andrea. “Cheltenham was really organized and hard to penetrate.”
Scoring Summary:
Second Half –
Liam Manning (WT) from Peter Comans, 68th minute
Tennent assistant coach Nick D’Andrea:
“Each team had a really good scoring chance in the first half, narrowly missing. We scored with about 12 minutes left in the game. Peter Comans hit a shot that was crossed in by Liam Manning. Jason Brandt earned the shutout in goal for us.
“Tough conditions to play at Cheltenham as the field is narrow, choppy, and slanted. Definitely, made it tough to play possession today.”
Up next: William Tennent will host Springfield Twp on Thursday, and Cheltenham will host Upper Moreland Thursday.
