HOLY GHOST PREP 4, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3 (2OT)
In a thrilling non-conference match, Holy Ghost Prep found a way to win against CB South early in the second overtime. CB South opened the scoring just 4 minutes in when Tyler Jaskelwicz dribbled through several Holy Ghost defenders and put the ball past the keeper. It only took 5 minutes for Holy Ghost to respond, and it was a double response with 2 goals in 80 seconds. In a back-and-forth match CB South was able to regain the lead when Alex Centafont jumped on a cross and volleyed into the goal to tie the match.
In the second half teams traded goals again – first Holy Ghost went up 3-2 midway through the second half, but CB South was able to level on another effort from Tyler Jaskelewicz, this time with a head ball on a free kick.
The first overtime remained scoreless, but the second overtime finished before it barely got started as Holy Ghost was able to score 30 seconds into the half.

COACH ED BRNARDIC:
“Welcome to high school soccer! It was a beautiful night to play, and we thank Holy Ghost for hosting us in a night game. The referees were fantastic and full respect to the players on both teams that battled all night. The fans got to see an exciting back and forth game which included several goals and a long distance shot from us right before halftime that beat their keeper an ended up in the goal, but it was rightfully waived off because the horn sounded while the ball was traveling into the goal but before it crossed the line.
Holy Ghost is a good team, and if you couple that with some self-inflicted errors that led to their first two goals, it was no doubt going to make it a tough match for us. We feel good about the way we played for most of the match, and if we can just cut down on the few mistakes that are popping up, we will be in good shape. Our goal is to be playing our best soccer at the end of the season, and these kinds of games only help to prepare us for that and strengthen our resolve.”
—PROPS: Tyler Jaskelewicz “Tyler may have had his best game of the season tonight. He was dangerous every time he touched the ball. He scored the first goal of the game on a great dribble through the heart of the Holy Ghost defense and finished with a curling shot into the bottom right corner. He then tied the match late in the second half by running fearlessly into the box to connect with a header that beat the Holy Ghost keeper.”
Evan Nguyen: “Our sophomore Evan Nguyen has been earning more and more minutes every game because he keeps making good plays. He puts himself in good positions to find the ball and then he has the IQ and technical skills to do something positive with the ball. Tonight we called Evan into the game several times and he didn’t disappoint – he made hard runs into the box, he won his air duels, he won a few corner kicks for us, and he connected really quickly with his teammates to keep us on the attack. He just keeps making good decisions.”
Rowan McDonald: “We have been battling injuries all over our back line all season long, but one thing that has remained constant for us has been Rowan McDonald. He’s having a heck of a season leading our defense, and tonight was no different. Rowan is calm on the ball, but he also knows when to turn it on and win the hard tackles.”
