UPPER MORELAND 4, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
The Golden Bears could not find the net in the opening half. The second half – that was a different story entirely as four different players scored goals to lead UM to the convincing non-league win.
“We had so many opportunities, so many chances point blank – missing the net, we had a PK we missed,” UM coach Justin Allegra said. “It was just a total disaster. They didn’t play our system, they didn’t play our formation, everyone wanted to go forward, and that’s how it was.
“I told them at halftime and said, ‘Just play our game, and we’ll be fine.’ We moved the ball well, and four different guys scored.”
Logan Taylor scored the Bears’ first goal early in the second half, and it turned out to be the game-winner. Adding one goal each were Max Gerlach, Chris Heron and Michael Scollion.
“Probably the man of the match was Chris Heron – he had a goal and an assist, and he was probably our best player on the field today,” Allegra said. “We possessed the entire game. We had all the chances, all the possession.”
Upper Moreland (1-0) will travel to Lower Moreland for Thursday’s SOL opener, and Harry S Truman (0-1) will host Council Rock North on Friday in its league opener.
