Check out the results for SOL boys’ soccer teams in action Friday.
NESHAMINY 3, WISSAHICKON 2
The Trojans raced out of the gate to a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals by Jacob Cohen and Tom McHale in the fifth and 10th minutes. Chase Rider cut that lead in half when he finished a Jack McCourt pass in the 20th minute. Four minutes later, McCourt scored when Dan Grindron slipped a great ball through the defense to knot the score 2-2 at halftime.
That score stood until McCourt slipped a pass through the defense to Vince Hosephros.
“Hosephros was tripped up in the box, and Neshaminy earned a PK,” coach Tom Foley said.
Grindrod buried the PK with 10 seconds remaining in regulation for the dramatic game winner.
“It was nice to dig out of a 2-0 hole and get a win,” Foley said. “There was a strong wind that made it difficult to play, so it was not the most artistic game, but we’ll take the win against a good team.”
Neshaminy (8-3, 4-2 SOL) will be on the road at Bensalem on Wednesday, and Wissahickon (5-4-2, 3-3-1) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday.
