SOL Patriot Division
PENNSBURY 2, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
Jadien Knight scored off a Vincent Manney assist to give Pennsbury the exciting win over CR South in the Patriot Division opener for both teams.
It was the first win of the season for the Falcons.
Santiago Espinoza also scored for Pennsbury.
Reid VanDemark had a penalty kick goal for CR South.
By the Numbers:
Second Half – Santiago Espinoza (P) from Karolis Babulas, 46th minute
Reid VanDemark (CRS), 63rd minute
Jadien Knight (P) from Vincent Manney, 68th minute
Coach Tom Stoddart:
“To start league play, we’re playing four of the five games on the road, so to get the first one under the belt against a quality opponent was big.”
–Response to the PK that tied it: “We gave up the PK, but we really didn’t let it get to us. We felt like we could still have the better of the game, and I thought we did a good job of coming right back and getting that go-ahead goal and then a good job too of almost putting the game away with some goals. Out of respect to them, we kind of stalled the game away instead of going towards goal towards the end because we knew they were dangerous – we wanted to make sure we got the win.”
–Props: “Our goalkeeper, Filip Milik, was fantastic today. He made some big saves. The defense stayed organized, and overall, we did a good job of being active and anticipating the play and making recoveries when we had to and making plays going forward when we had to as well. I thought both Will Edwards and Caleb (Mangiaracina) in the middle did a great job. We also had some guys that had to come off the bench. Andrew Farsiou had to
come off the bench and put in a big five or seven minutes, and even in that time, he made some big plays for us, which is not an easy thing to do, so did Dean Moghadam, who came in for the last five minutes and really gave us some quality minutes. Dave DeFinis came in in the first half and gave us some quality minutes in the middle when we needed a little break here or there. I’m really proud of those guys, staying positive and contributing even though it was just a couple minutes here or there.”
CR South assistant coach Zach Orenstein:
“Another battle of an SOL conference matchup. We made a few adjustments at halftime and came out looking pretty strong. We were moving the ball quickly and generating some chances.
Their first goal came against the run of play a little bit and then we had to adjust what we were doing. I am proud of the guys for staying with it and battling back to tie it 1-1 with a Reid VanDemark penalty kick.
–Credit to Pennsbury: Their second goal was on a very effective counterattack. They caught us up the field and very quickly were back in our box. It is one I want to watch back in the tape. Our goalkeeper Andrew Freeman kept us in it during the second half with a few big saves.
Next up: Pennsbury (1-3, 1-0 SOL) plays at Harry S. Truman Friday. CR South (1-2-1, 0-1) plays at Neshaminy.
Pennsbury 0 2 – 2
CR South 0 1 – 1
NESHAMINY 4, BENSALEM 1
Less than 24 hours after playing 100 minutes in a nonleague game against Southern Lehigh (a 1-1 tie), Neshaminy fell behind 1-0 early but rallied to scored four straight goals to notch a win in Wednesday’s SOL opener.
With another league game on Friday, it’s going to be a light practice on Thursday.
“We played hard two days in a row,” said coach Tom Foley. “They need to recover. Then we have a tough game against (CR) South. Whether they’re good, bad or indifferent, they’re always a dogfight. They seem to have Neshaminy’s number, so we have to be ready to play them.”
By the Numbers:
First Half –
B – Bensalem goal 15th minute
Dylan Reheil (N), 17th minute
Sean Conrad (N) from Matt Diamond 32nd minute
Dylan Reheil (N), 35th minute
Second Half –
Christos Vasilarikos (N), 68th minute
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
“All the goals today were really well-played. We made the right decisions. We got balls wide, and that’s what we’re trying to stress to them – attack wide, which we did last night, but we didn’t have the numbers in the box to get on the end of them like we did today. To our credit, we learned from our mistakes last night, and we got two and three guys into the box, and we were all crashing for rebounds. That was the difference between last night and tonight. We were able to get on the end of some things.
“We made some changes. Sean Conrad came in and provided a spark. He’s the high energy guy. He just pressures people all over the place, and he kicked a few things loose. We found a nice rotation today that worked, and the level of play didn’t drop, so we’re going to continue to ride that train until it loses steam. Everyone who got in today did a really nice job.
“I’m really proud of the guys because when they got down 1-0, they could have packed it in after a long night – they were a little disappointed with the tie last night, but they didn’t. They got back after it right away, and they pretty much put all the pressure on Bensalem after that.
–On falling behind early: “The first 15 minutes we were kind of running in mud. We were just getting our legs loose because we played a hundred minutes last night and didn’t walk in the door until 11 o’clock. I think we were a little lethargic. They were playing some long balls and got on the end of them. We weren’t challenging real early. We gave up a lot of space and then their goal. It came on a cross, and we kind of whiffed on it, and it rolled into the goal. That woke us up a little bit.”
–The scoring: “We started knocking the ball around a little bit. Brody Collins had a nice shot that hit the crossbar. Everyone thought it went in. Fortunately, Dylan (Reheil) was there, and he just made sure it went in and cleaned that up for us. The second goal, Matt Diamond did a great job – got down the right flank, hit a perfect ball on the ground. Sean (Conrad) just ran onto it and placed it nicely into the goal. For the third goal, Sean Conrad went down the left side, got a shot off. The keeper made the save, and Dylan was there for the rebound again.”
–Props: “Christos Vasilarikos and Damien Castro continue to do a yeoman’s job in the center midfield. They’re doing a really nice job. Matt Diamond continues to play really well on the flank. He’s setting up a lot. He’s not getting a lot of credit on the scoresheet, but he’s making things happen. He’s getting balls across, he’s finding the right people. The most important thing is you get the win. It doesn’t matter if you get your name on the scoresheet. The coach will take care of you getting the minutes because he really deserves the minutes because he’s playing really, really well.”
Next up: Neshaminy (2-1-1, 1-0 SOL) hosts Council Rock South on Friday. Bensalem (1-2, 0-1) plays at Council Rock North Friday.

Goalkeeper Calvin Hopkins picked up an assist on Lentz’s second goal.

SOL Colonial Division
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
Anthony Bice and Tyler Jaskelewicz scored first half goals, and the Titans held off rival CB East in the second half for the huge win in the SOL Colonial opener for both teams.
The win was the third in as many games for the Titans.
By the Numbers:
First Half – Anthony Bice (CBS) from AJ Okoniewski
Tyler Jaskelewicz (CBS)
Second Half
CB East goal
Coach Ed Brnardic:
“We approached the game with a lot of respect for the program that CB East had built over the past few years, and we were excited to see how we would match up with them. It was a clean and well-played game that resembled a chess match at some moments and a tough physical contest at others. We were happy that we took the lead, but full credit to CB East for not letting it affect them as they kept pouring on the pressure in the second half.
“Today, we had several players who had great games. AJ was involved with both goals, Anthony Bice and Evan Jaskelewicz were dangerous all game and our midfield of Josh Dozier, Tyler Jaskelewicz, Brennan Franklin and Rowan McDonald ran a half marathon.
– Pat VanLuvanee: “Up until this game we didn’t have a captain because we wanted to see how each player would handle adversity before nominating anyone. In our last game versus. Downingtown West, we were down 1-0 at the half after a penalty kick goal and this is when Pat VanLuvanee shined. After the goal he immediately went to our players with positive energy to relax them and keep them focused which helped us put together a great second half to steal the road win. Yesterday at practice, it was a great moment we named Pat our team captain. Pat is our ‘North Star’ on and off the field and is well respected by everyone in the school – his character and leadership guided us in this contest against CB East.
– Aadhi Jagadish: “Special thanks to our student manager Aadhi who put together a great game plan to prepare the team for success. Aadhi worked tirelessly over the long weekend, and he has a bright future as a coach.”
The goals: “Eight minutes in, AJ Okoniewski slipped a ball through to Anthony Bice who made a great move around his defender to go in 1v1 with the goalie before calmly slipping it past him. Ten minutes later AJ took a long distance shot which rebounded off the defender. Tyler Jaskelewicz ran at the ball and finished with a world class volley into the bottom right corner. In the second half it was CB East who scored eight minutes in when a nice cross came in from the left wing and a double header put the ball into the back of the net. CB South was able to hold on for the 2-1 win.
Next up: CB South (3-0, 1-0 SOL) hosts North Penn on Friday afternoon. CB East (2-2, 0-1) hosts Pennridge on Friday/
CB East 0 1 – 1
CB South 2 0 – 2
NORTH PENN 2, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1
Tied at halftime, North Penn played very well in the second half and pulled away for the home victory in the SOL Colonial opener for both teams.
Wednesday’s win was the fourth straight for the Knights since falling to perennial powerhouse La Salle 1-0 in their season opener.
By the Numbers:
First Half –
Adam MacNair (NP), 13th minute
CB West goal
Second Half –
Carson Schell (NP) from Demetri Ilovski
NP coach Chris DePeppe:
“The second half we played very well. We took more control of the game and created a lot of chances and started to wear them down. We just couldn’t get the second goal, but we didn’t get frustrated. That was good to see.
“They counterattacked quickly a few times, but for the most part our center mids did a great job closing the space and keeping their dangerous guys (#4 and #6) in check. Carson Schell scored our game-winner from Demetri Ilovski.
“Ian Balisalisa was a stud in defensive midfield, and Fionn Regan was outstanding playing in a more attacking role.
“Nino Brnardic played another very smart and solid game at center back.
“But our attack was mostly from the wings tonight: Ryan Smith and Matt Haines were great and Demetri ilovski is so tough to defend 1v1. He is one of the most creative players in the conference and a game-changer.
“We had about 14 shots on goal and probably 10 corner kicks, but credit to West’s keeper and center back who both played strong games.
“And (goalkeeper) Brady Schengels is doing a nice job organizing his defense and making good decisions with the ball.”
–The goals: “We scored in the 13th minute on senior Adam MacNair’s putback off a rebound off of senior Shafiq Henaidy’s shot. Shafiq did a nice job beating a defender to his weaker foot and making their keeper make a difficult close range save, but Adam was in the goalmouth to finish the job.
“Adam has been out with an injury, so it was good to have him back, but we had three other players out tonight, so it took extra team effort to get the victory. They scored pretty quickly to tie it up heading into the break.”
Next up: North Penn (4-1, 1-0 SOL) plays at CB South on Friday. CB West (1-2-1, 0-1) is at Souderton Friday afternoon.
CB West 1 0 – 1
North Penn 1 1 – 2
SOUDERTON 3, PENNRIDGE 2
AJ Pisoni scored off a cross from Nolan Watkins in the second half, as Souderton overcame a furious Pennridge comeback attempt in the second half for the 3-2 victory.
Souderton keeper Trevor Alderfer saved the day, turning away a Pennridge penalty kick in the second half.
Tanner Wizneski and Liam Shaw scored in the first half for Souderton.
Logan Lamaina had two goals for Pennridge in the second half to tie it at 2.
By the Numbers:
First Half –
Tannor Wiszneski (S), from Liam Shaw
Liam Shaw (S), from Kerns
Second Half –
Logan Lamaina (P)
Logan Lamaina (P)
AJ Pisoni (S) from Nolan Watkins
Souderton coach Frank Demas:
“Pennridge’s Logan Lamaina had an amazing second half, scoring two goals late to make the game interesting.
“Shout out to Souderton’s Trevor Alderfer on an incredible PK save late in the game.”
Pennridge coach Aaron Rapsinski:
“We were down 2-0 at half and gave up a third with about 25 minutes left. Souderton completely outworked us for the first 50 mins of the game. Credit to them and their effort.
“We didn’t roll over though. We finally started playing to our standard the rest of the half. We were able to capitalize on a set piece, and Logan Lamaina was able to score off a Roman Arcade assist with 13 minutes left. Lamaina scored again with about 10 minutes left from a Jace Soto assist.
“We had a penalty with about three minutes left with a chance to tie that we unfortunately weren’t able to put away. Goalie made a good save.
“While it isn’t the result we wanted, the second half showed us what we are capable of. We will look to build on that half as we head to East Friday.”
Next up: Souderton (3-0, 1-0 SOL) hosts CB West on Friday. Pennridge (0-3, 0-1) plays at CB East.
Pennridge 0 2 – 2
Souderton 2 1 – 3

QUAKERTOWN 1, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 0
Billy Reinoso converted a penalty kick in the first half and that was enough, as Quakertown held off visiting PW in a Liberty Division game under the lights on Wednesday.
By the Numbers:
First Half – Billy Reinoso (Q)
Coach Steven Hippauf: “Our defense and midfield played great tonight. We missed some chances to double the lead, but we stuck together through the second half to hold onto the lead. Extremely proud of how the boys played tonight, tons of energy and quality that we will need to carry on throughout the year.
“Our defense was huge. It was a complete team effort; however, I have to shout out our two center backs – junior Landon Augustine and sophomore James Burger. Both are playing in only their third varsity game but did extremely well the entire night. They had a ton of support from their outside backs – seniors David Hammond and Derrick Calvello, and our defensive midfielder, senior Luca Notarianni.”
Next up: Quakertown (2-1, 1-0 SOL) next plays at Hatboro-Horsham on Friday. PW (0-4, 0-1) plays at Wissahickon.
PW 0 0 – 0
Quakertown 1 0 -1
UPPER DUBLIN 3, WISSAHICKON 2
Chase Rapaport assisted Jackson Bryan with the game-winner with 10 minutes remaining, as Upper Dublin survived a back-and-forth battle with Wissahickon on Wednesday afternoon.
Corey Abramson and Reilly McLaughlin also scored the Flying Cardinals.
By the Numbers:
Second Half –
Corey Abramson (UD), PK
Jayden Kim (W) from Matthew Frankenfield
Reilly McLaughlin (UD) from Chase Rapaport
Charlie Fortescue (W) from Justin Reynoso
UD – Jackson Bryan from Chase Rapaport
Upper Dublin coach Noah Johnson:
“The first 10 minutes we did really well, and then there was a lot of back and forth after that. I don’t know what it is, but with Wissahickon – we know each other. A lot of the kids play together on club, a lot of the kids live right down the street from each other, so it’s always a fun time playing them. Even I know some of the boys on that team. They make sure they make it interesting for both teams.
“Looking forward to going to Abington, we definitely didn’t want to get into an overtime situation and get anyone hurt or anything like that. It definitely was a great game, and I look forward to playing Wissahickon again later on in the season.”
–The scoring: “The first goal was a PK – Corey Abramson was being played in, and he drew a foul in the box. He took the PK. Wissahickon scored on a corner about five minutes later. On the second one, Chase Rapaport played a ball to Reilly McLaughlin down the wing, and Reilly then shot the ball from outside of the box on the righthand side and scored. Wissahickon scored 10 minutes after our second goal to make it 2-2, and five minutes later we scored. Chase Rapaport again – just with sheer willpower and wanting to make sure that we won this game and not go into overtime – set up the goal. A ball got played over the top and was bouncing in the box. Chase was able to get around the defender and get to the end line while the defender was shielding it, and he was able to cross the ball to Jackson Bryan, who was just sitting there at the PK marker uncontested for an easy tap-in to win us the game.”
–Props: “Chase Rapaport definitely deserves a lot of props. He did a very good job putting himself on the scoresheet even though it wasn’t a goal, but being able to pull off two assists in a game is huge especially on a day like today when we didn’t really have a great game. It’s nice to see that a junior is able to step up and kind of carry the boys a little bit, help them out through tough moments.
“My back line again played well – Brady Hillman, Reilly McLaughlin, Leo Kuznits, and Kaleb Abebe. Ben Goettel when he was in did a very great job of being able to go in and help us out on the back line today and give some people some breaks.”
Next Up: Upper Dublin (3-1, 1-0 SOL) plays at Abington on Friday afternoon. Wissahickon (2-2, 0-1) hosts Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Wissahickon 0 2 – 2
Upper Dublin 0 3 – 3
SOL Freedom Division
LOWER MORELAND 1, CHELTENHAM 0
Liam Attias scored late in the second half as Lower Moreland won a hard-fought battle with visiting Cheltenham on Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers were coming off a big win over Abington in their only game of the season while the Lions were playing their fourth game – all wins.
By the Numbers:
Second Half – Liam Attias (LM)
LM coach Bob Barnhart:
“Bill (Tonkin) has really turned the corner with the men’s program at Cheltenham over the last four years. Playing the likes of Abington and their other nonleague games this year has really positioned their program to do great things. The first half, they had a lot of chances and probably feel like they should have converted on a few of them.”
–The goal: “Liam Attias was able to find the net late in the second half for us after some good solid work up front all game.”
–The win: “We have really been hard on the guys lately about how to close out one-goal games and the importance of managing the clock and the game down the stretch when trying to preserve the one goal advantage. I thought they executed that plan to perfection today. It’s tough with this age group and their desire to want to score. Sometimes, they let emotion get the better of themselves ,and we have been preaching that we have to keep emotion out of decisions on the pitch, especially late in the match.”
–Props: Keegan Courduff had a huge game for us in goal today. I have really seen a maturity in him this season as he has stepped into a senior leadership role. Our back line was solid all game and kept them off the score sheet.”
Next Up: LM (4-0, 1-0 SOL) hosts rival Springfield on Friday. Cheltenham (1-1, 0-1) hosts William Tennent.
Cheltenham 0 0 – 0
LM 0 1 – 1
SPRINGFIELD TWP 2, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 1 (OT)
Igor Hyvel scored four minutes into the first overtime as the Spartans – who trailed 1-0 at halftime – capped a second-half comeback for the win over visiting New Hope-Solebury.
Hyvel’s goal was assisted by Harry Bates. Earlier, Bates scored off a Hyvel assist to knot the score in the second half after Aramis Shire had given the Lions the early lead.
By the Numbers:
First Half – Aramis Shire (NH), 16th minute
Second Half – Harry Bates (S) from Igor Hyvel, 43rd minute
First OT – Igor Hyvel (S) from Harry Bates, 84th minute
Springfield coach Dan Meder:
“New Hope looks really good. They have a good team, and they put a goal away in the first half, and we had to come from behind to tie it up in the second and went to overtime.
“I thought they played really well in the first half. They were well-organized, well-coached, and they have some nice players. In the second half, our team played better.
“We had some chances during the game, but they played really good defense, and they were pretty stingy about it. It was a hard-fought game at both ends.”
–OT goal: “(In overtime), they were sitting in a little bit more. We had a lot more control of the ball at that point. Our guys moved the ball really well, and Igor got on the end of it. It was nice because he set up Harry earlier in the game, so it was nice for him to get it back.”
–Props: “It was sort of a sloppy game, but I was really proud of the way the guys worked through that. I don’t think everybody had their best game, and New Hope had a lot to do with that, with the way they played, but I loved that our guys worked hard through that and got it done.”
New Hope coach Chris Van Pelt:
“Incredibly proud of our performance today, Wish we had the result to match it, but I think the first half in particular showed the progress we’ve made so far this year.
“Springfield is a very well coached team with a lot of very good players, and they were the better team in the second half. I was proud of how we were able to put the early second half goal behind us and fought hard to earn some valuable points but unfortunately there’s overtime.”
Next up: Springfield (4-0, 1-0 SOL) plays at Lower Moreland on Friday in a battle of two teams with identical 4-0 records. New Hope (2-2, 0-1) is at Upper Moreland.
New Hope 1 0 0 – 1
Springfield 0 1 1 – 2
WILLIAM TENNENT 2, UPPER MORELAND 1
Nazariy Kukhniy converted two penalty kicks in the second half, the last one winning the game at the end of regulation with no time remaining, as Tennent rallied for the Liberty Division road win on Wednesday.
Next up: Tennent (1-3, 1-0 SOL) plays at Cheltenham on Friday. Upper Moreland (2-1, 0-1) hosts New Hope-Solebury.
Tennent 0 2 – 2
UM 1 0 – 1
