SOL National Conference
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 (26-24, 15-25, 25-12, 25-20)
After winning a tightly contested first set, the Panthers dropped the second but rallied to win the next two.
Connor Berndlmaier led the Panthers with nine aces and seven kills. Bohdan Tkachov added seven kills, and Joe Gwynn contributed nine digs and one ace. Charlie Green had five kills, one ace and one block while Tyler Yannuzzi had three kills and three blocks. Cole Montella added three aces and two digs.
For the Golden Hawks, Andrew Richards led the offense with 13 kills, 18 digs, passing a 2.375 with one ace. Middles Jatin Singh (six kills, three blocks, one ace) and Dylan Baptiste (five kills, three blocks, three digs) also contributed. Hitters Alec Rovner (two kills, 12 digs) and Shevvy Fernado (one kill, seven digs, passing a 2.25) also made their presence felt. Setter Colin Doherty had 17 assists and eight digs. Jadon Freed (17 digs, one ace) and Josh Berkowitz (four digs) led the defense.
William Tennent is 5-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play while Council Rock South is 1-5 in the SOL (1-7 overall).
PENNSBURY 3, ABINGTON 1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-18)
The visiting Falcons dropped the first set but rolled to wins in the next three.
The Falcons’ attack was led by the double-digit kills efforts of Luke Bucksar (13 kills, .500, 1 ace, 8 digs, 2 blocks), Jake Loerch (14 kills, .393, 2 digs, 1 ace, 1 block) and Justin Sadley (12 kills, 5 aces, 7 digs, 1 block). Sebastian Kloda added seven kills and three blocks. Matt Caissie had 11 digs and six assists. Setter Andy Delworth had a big night, finishing with 42 assists, four kills (.333), five digs and one block. Joe Martell (one dig) and Nathan Sadley (two blocks) also contributed.
For the Ghosts, junior outside hitter Danny Gonzalez notched his 500th kill in the third set. He finished with 16 kills. The Ghosts combined for nine blocks. Sean Dougherty had 10 digs, and setter Toulant Kurti had 13 assists.
Pennsbury improved to 6-0 in conference play, 6-1 overall. Abington (4-5, 3-4 SOL) will be playing in the Haverford Tournament this weekend and will host William Tennent for its Senior Night on Monday.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, BENSALEM 2
The Indians won a tightly contested match over the Owls.
Sean D’Arcy led the attack with 14 kills, 14 digs and two aces while Justin Burns added 13 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Nick Desautelle had eight kills, six digs and one ace. Seth Connors contributed four kills, five digs and one ace while Sean Mealey had three kills and two digs. Setter Vytis Duncia had 37 assists, one ace and six digs.
The Owls were led by Paul Leible (11 kills, two blocks) and Shiv Patel (nine kills, one block). Ethan Fan (five kills), Jake Mottershead (five kills, two blocks), Harsh Shah (nine digs) and Basheer Ghafary (25 assists, five kills) all played well for the Owls.
Council Rock North (4-1 SOL) is 5-1 overall while Bensalem is 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the SOL.
NESHAMINY 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-13)
The Redskins received contributions from up and down their lineup in their sweep of the Panthers.
Tony Camillo led a strong service game with seven aces, two kills and two digs. Josh Clendening added three aces. Setter Nick Storz had 15 assists, five aces and two kills. Asher Pileggi’s four kills led the Redskins. Also contributing were Matt Schwab (one kill), Jesse Marshall (one kill, two digs), Ben Clendening (two kills), Paul Allen (one kill, one dig), Jesse Kovaschetz (two kills, one ace), Josh Adler (one kill, three aces), Stephen Fario (two kills, one ace), Cody Hemberger (one kill, one ace) and Joe Ong (one ace, one dig).
Neshaminy improved its record to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play while Cheltenham (0-7 overall) is 0-6 in conference play.
SOL American Conference
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-20)
The Rams used a balanced effort to earn a sweep of the Titans.
Ethan Lionetti had 10 kills, six digs and three blocks. Also contributing were Danny Rutter (five kills, eight digs, four aces), Matt McCreary (five kills, three blocks), Austin Jalosinski (two kills, four blocks) and Ryan Benscoter (three kills). Setter Zach Vaneman had 20 assists. Tommy Cassel had six digs and two aces.
For the Titans, setter Andrew Rubas had 14 assists, six digs, three kills and a block. Mason Zeo led the defense with nine digs and also had an ace and five kills. Aidan O’Brien had five kills, one block and three digs. First-year varsity player Connor Wisniewski, according to coach Matt Ehlers, did a little bit of everything with an ace, a kill, a block, an assist and a dig.
“Today we struggled in serve receive, which got us away from running our offense the way we’d like,” Ehlers said.
Pennridge is 4-3 on the season, 4-2 in the conference. Central Bucks South is 3-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
NORTH PENN 3, SOUDERTON 0
The Knights used a team effort to earn a sweep of the Indians.
Setter Drew Coles had 24 assists, four digs, two aces and one kill. Evan Rothmann (nine kills, two aces, one block, three digs) and Michael Wang (10 kills, four aces, four digs) led the Knights at the net. Zach Jayes led a strong service game with seven aces to go along with two kills and five digs. Also contributing were Kevin Abrahahm (three kills, two blocks, one dig), James Stewart (seven digs), Hari Patel (two kills, two assists) and Isaac Lambert (four kills, seven digs).
For the Indians, Aidan Wunderly had seven kills and eight digs, and Will Nase had a team-high eight kills. Jimmy Wert had five kills and 10 digs and Riley Finger added six digs. Setter Luke Pagan had 15 assists and 11 digs.
North Penn (4-3 overall) evened its conference mark at 3-3 while Souderton is 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the league.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-22)
The Cardinals won for the seventh time in eight matches, rolling to a sweep of the Panthers.
The Cardinals were led at the net by Mario Petushi (11 kills, three blocks, three aces, 11 digs). David Levin (16 assists, two kills, two blocks) and Devin O’Brien (nine assists, three digs) split setting duties. Alec Madden (two kills, three blocks), Ciaran Sutherland (three kills, three assists, two digs), Joey Levin (one ace, two kills, two digs), Mike Ryan (five kills, four blocks) and Trevor Molloy (one ace, four kills, eight digs) also contributed. Taco Thompson led the defense with 15 digs to go with two aces.
For the Panthers, setter Ty Fosbenner had nine assists, one block and three digs. Ryan DiCandilo had five kills while Cameron Cronk added three kills, two blocks and two digs. Seth Wesley had three kills and two digs, and Zach Frei added one kill, one ace and four digs. Nathan Gingrich had one block, one ace and one dig, and Jared Leatherman had four digs.
Upper Dublin (7-1 overall) is 5-1 in conference play while Quakertown is 0-6 in league play and 1-6 overall.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21)
In a battle of neighboring rivals, it was the Patriots earning the sweep.
East was led by Jacob LaBouliere with 11 kills and Dylan Colbert with 14 kills and four digs. Steve Strom directed the attack, handing out 34 assists. Ryan Figus led the defense with eight digs. Christian Wolf and Thomas Gallagher-Teske each added four kills while Jack Miller and CJ Dalby combined for two kills and an ace.
Central Bucks East maintains its stronghold on the top spot in the conference standings with a 6-0 record (9-0 overall). Central Bucks West is 3-3 in conference play.
