QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 25-22)
The Panthers earned a hard-fought win over the Patriots. Leading the way were Dylan Flor (15 kills, one block) and Coulton Terry (13 kills, two blocks). Mike Dierolf (eight kills, one block, 13 digs), Lucas Schan (six kills, two blocks) and Zach Dierolf (four kills, two blocks) also made important contributions at the net. Libero Nick Wesley led the defense with 10 digs while Chris Chookagian had nine digs. Setter Xavier Villanueva had 40 assists in a busy night.
For the Patriots, Chris Woolslayer and Eric Chmiel both had 10 kills. Henry Mallison added seven while Shawn Malone and Jarred Minschwaner both had six kills. Defensively, Mallison led the way with seven digs while Kyle Schmauck and Woolslayer each had four and Mason Miller and Minschwaner each had three. Chris Dunn, Miller and Minschwaner all had two service aces.
PENNRIDGE 3, SOUDERTON 0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-20)
Setter Jesse Smith had 20 assists to go along with six digs, two aces and two blocks. Aaron Nelson led a balanced attack with six kills and four blocks. Sam Handy had five kills and nine digs. Jon Long had four kills, and Brandon Greb had five blocks. Also contributing were Josiah Friesen (two kills, two blocks), Ryan Spangler (two kills), Jeremy Baum (seven digs), Austin Rush (10 digs) and Caleb Penell (five digs)
Pennridge (7-0) will play at Upper Dublin on Wednesday afternoon.
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, ABINGTON 1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-22, 25-19)
Josh Hinton led the Indians to the hard fought win, finishing with 12 kills, seven digs, five aces and three blocks. Will Desautelle (11 kills, two digs, .5 block), Will Stollsteimer (11 kills, eight digs, one ace), Nick Reich (seven kills, three aces, two digs, two blocks) and Jason Yakimiv (seven kills, four blocks and two digs) also made important contributions. Logan Fuglestad (27 assists, seven digs) and Dalton Abrahamsen (13 assists, three digs) shared setting duties. Eric Van Thuyne led the defense with 17 digs to go along with two aces and one assist. Aaron Knotts and Robby Ward both had two digs while Sean Lyon had one kill.
CR North will return to action next Monday when it travels to William Tennent.
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 0
Jake Milnazik had a big night at the net, leading the Panthers with 15 kills to go along with three aces. Brendan Cater added seven kills, and Kylen Schnell had four. Wille Towle contributed two aces, four kills and nine digs, and Noah Chast had four digs and two aces.
Paul Bas led the Owls at the net with 11 kills while Sam Makidon added five kills and two blocks. Setter Ronak Patel also played well, contributing 21 assists.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-16)
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, UNIONVILLE 0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-21)
The Golden Hawks rolled to a sweep in Monday’s non-league contest. Leading the way were Tyler Hondros (five kills, four aces), Rob Reifsteck (five kills, five aces) and Rob Kessel (five kills).
ABINGTON CAPTURES 2015 BATTLE OF THE CASTLE TITLE
The Ghosts defeated Hershey High School in a tightly contested title match 2-1 (25-23, 17-25, 15-13) to win the championship at the Battle of the Castle at Reading High School.
In pool play, the Ghosts compiled a perfect 8-0 record and won both their quarterfinal and semifinal matches. They rolled through the tournament with a 12-1 record.
“We played incredible defense,” coach Jea Lee said. “It was a good time for the boys to bond together and find our identity.
“Our will to never give up in the finals showed that we were not going to lose the championship game.”
