SOL National Conference
BENSALEM 3, NESHAMINY 1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19
The Owls dropped the first set but came back strong, winning the next three.
Ethan Fan had a standout performance for the Owls, contributing 17 kills, two aces and six digs. Shiv Patel (14 kills, five digs) and Paul Leible (12 kills, two blocks) were set up by Basheer Ghafary (42 assists, two aces) for key plays down the stretch.
Bensalem improved to 6-7 overall (4-5 SOL).
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-14)
The visiting Panthers rolled to a sweep of their hosts.
Connor Berndmaier led a balanced attack with four aces, five kills and two blocks. Connor Fleming had two kills. Tyler Yannuzzi added four aces and six kills. Caleb McClaren added two aces and one kill. Nate Clee had one ace and two kills while Ben Weir had three aces and six digs. Jack Stellen contributed three kills and one block.
SOL American Conference
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, PENNRIDGE 0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-13)
The Patriots continued to roll in conference play earning a sweep of the visiting Rams.
East was led defensively by Ryan Figus with 13 digs while averaging a 2.6 passer rating. Offensively, the Patriots’ Dylan Colbert stood out with 13 kills and eight digs. Thomas Gallagher-Teske was big in the middle, contributing five blocks and eight kills. Fellow middle hitter Christian Wolf added two kills, two aces, two blocks and two digs. Jack Miller picked up six digs, and CJ Dalby had a kill. The offense was quarterbacked by Steve Storm who piled up 27 assists, one kill and seven digs.
For the Rams, Austin Jalosinski (five kills, three blocks), Ryan Benscoter (four kills) and Ethan Lionetti (three kills) led the way at the net. Danny Rutter had eight digs and Tommy Cassel, six digs. Zach Vaneman had 16 assists.
Central Bucks East (8-0 SOL) upped its overall record to 12-0 while Pennridge is 5-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-22)
The visiting Indians dropped the opening set of Wednesday’s match but won the next three.
Aidan Wunderly had 12 kills to lead the Indians at the net. Setter Luke Pagan dished out 29 assists to go along with three blocks, two aces and six digs. Jimmy Wert contributed eight kills, three aces and 19 digs. Luke Hess had 13 digs and Riley Finger, nine digs.
For the Titans, senior Mason Zeo had seven kills, three aces, two blocks, 11 digs and an assist. Senior Jonathan Zonshein led the defense with 19 digs to go along with four kills, three blocks and one assist. Middle hitter Connor Wisniewski had three blocks and two kills, and sophomore Killian Fabiscewski recorded his first varsity kill.
Souderton (3-5 SOL) is 5-7 overall while Central Bucks South is 1-7 in conference play and 3-8 overall.
CENTRAL BUCKS 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (25-16, 25-18, 19-25, 25-16)
The Bucks evened their league record at 4-4 with their win over the visiting Panthers.
Justin Flor (nine kills, one ace, two blocks) and Cameron Cronk (nine kills) led the Panthers at the net. Zach Frei added six kills and one block and also dished out 11 assists. Ty Fosbenner had 15 assists and three kills. Ryan DiCandilo had one kill and two aces, and Connor Williams had one ace.
Quakertown is 1-8 overall.
Tuesday, April 16
UPPER DUBLIN 3, NORTH PENN 2 (23-25, 25-10, 22-25, 25-19, 15-10)
The Flying Cardinals eked out a win in Tuesday’s grueling five-set match.
Matt Ross (14 kills, one ace, one block, eight digs), Mario Petushi (10 kills, four aces, one block, six digs) and Joey Levin (eight kills, one block, two digs) led the Cardinals at the net. Matt Ryan added five kills and three blocks. David Levin (10 assists, one kill, one block, one dig) and Devin O’Brien (29 assists, four digs, one ace) shared setting duties. Alec Madden added two kills, one block and two digs, and Taco Thompson had seven digs and one ace.
For the Knights, Evan Rothmann (14 kills, one ace, two blocks, four digs) and Michael Wang (12 kills, one block, eight digs) both had big nights at the net. Kevin Abraham added nine kills, one ace and two digs. Setter Drew Coles had 28 assists, five digs, two aces and one kill, and Ryan Stewart added nine assists and 10 digs. Also making important contributions were Luke Yoder (four kills, one block, two digs), Zach Jayes (three kills, one ace, two blocks, six digs), AJ Patterson (one kill, one block, one ace), John Maggi (two digs), James Stewart (four digs) and Noel Abraham (two digs).
Upper Dublin improved to 7-1 in conference play and 9-1 overall while North Penn is 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
Non-league
PARKLAND 3, PENNRIDGE 1 (25-19, 25-18, 25-27, 25-22)
Ethan Lionetti had a big night at the net in the Rams’ non-league loss Tuesday, finishing with 14 kills to go along with six digs. Danny Rutter and Ryan Benscoter (four blocks) both had eight kills while Matt McCreary had six kills and four blocks. Austin Jalosinski added four kills and four blocks. Setter Zach Vaneman had 37 assists, and Tommy Cassel had eight digs.
