Girls
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 33, SOUDERTON 31
Central Bucks West coach Terry Rakowsky should be forgiven if Souderton isn’t near the top of his list of favorite road trips. Prior to last year’s undefeated regular season, the Bucks had suffered through three straight road losses at Souderton. Their 44-41 loss in 2012-13 forced the Bucks to share the SOL Continental Conference title with North Penn.
On Wednesday, the Indians – who celebrated Senior Night – threatened to make it another bad trip for the Bucks as they came oh-so-close to pulling off the upset of their season. They led 15-9 after one quarter but trailed 22-17 at halftime. A 12-4 third quarter sent them into the final quarter with a 29-26 lead. They upped that to 31-26 when Megan Walbrandt scored with six minutes remaining.
That’s when the points stopped coming for the Indians, but the Bucks weren’t doing a whole lot better. Neither team scored until Tori Abelson, after pulling down an offensive rebound, found Makenzie Mason for an easy bucket to make it a 31-28 game with 3:36 remaining.
With just over two minutes to play, Maggie Rakowsky buried a three-pointer to knot the score. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead, but neither could convert until Maddie Maio came up with a steal and found teammate Abby Spratt who – despite being fouled – converted a basket with 47 seconds remaining that turned out to be the game winner.
With time winding down, Spratt delivered a block on the defensive end to preserve the win.
Rakowsky finished with a game-high 12 points to go along with six rebounds while Mason added seven points, 11 rebounds and four steals.
Walbrandt led the Indians with 10 points. Tori Dowd and Alana Cardona each added eight.
Central Bucks West (13-5, 8-3 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Friday night, and Souderton (6-12, 3-7) will travel to Central Bucks South.

QUAKERTOWN 44, POTTSTOWN 20
The Panthers led 7-3 after one quarter and then dominated play in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Trojans 14-4 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 21-7 lead. Meghan Klee led the second quarter charge with eight points – including a pair of three-pointers. A 13-4 third quarter put the Panthers on top 34-13 on their way to the convincing non-league win.
Klee led all scorers with 15 points, and Jill Martin added eight. Marina Cooke contributed six points.
