WISSAHICKON 57, QUAKERTOWN 21
In a make-up game that was postponed due to a power outage, the Trojans seized control of things early, opening up a 25-2 lead after one quarter and a 41-5 advantage at halftime on their way to the big win.
Nico Vacchiano led the charge, erupting for 11 first-quarter points and 18 points in the first half. Jona Sellenriek added eight points in the half and was a force at both ends of the court.
Key players: Nico Vacchiano led all scorers with 24, and Jona Sellenriek had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots.
Up next: Wissahickon will travel to Lower Moreland Friday for a non-league SOL crossover game and Quakertown will travel to Springfield Twp on Friday.

SOL Non-League Crossover
NESHAMINY 70, WILLIAM TENNENT 57
Logan Gale had himself a night.
The junior sharpshooter – in a preview of things to come – scored 12 points in the opening quarter that saw the Redskins open up a 24-16 lead. It turns out he was just getting started. By halftime, he had 17, and he added 17 more in the second half.
The Redskins took a 32-28 lead into halftime but put some distance themselves and their visitors with a 20-10 third quarter.
Key players: Logan Gale led the Redskins with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Eriq Gold added 11 points, and Cadenn Amati had 6 points and 6 rebounds.
Up next: Neshaminy will travel to Central Bucks East Friday for a non-league SOL crossover game, and William Tennent will host Upper Dublin in a non-league crossover game on Friday.

Martin Luther High School didn’t pose much competition, but the Spartans used Wednesday’s non-league game as an opportunity to give everyone plenty of action.
Key players: Clay Trejbrowski (15 points, 3 assists), Gavin Cleary (11 points), AJ Cooper (11 points), Brian Mathews (9 points on 3/4 from 3)

The Game: “I was really happy with the way our guys came out to start the game. We had a tough game last night against Cheltenham and they responded really well. They stayed focused, stayed together, and picked themselves back up.”
Props: “I want to give a big shoutout the guys who came off the bench tonight. All four of our leading scorers – Clay Trejbrowski, Gavin Cleary, AJ Cooper, and Brian Mathews – came off the bench. They didn’t let a drop off happen when they came in, and they played really well together.”

The Trojans used a balanced attack to defeat the visiting Panthers in a division contest Wednesday.
Maura Jacob led the offense with nine points, Kai Potter added six points and nine rebounds while Bella Butcher handed out five assists.
Wissahickon coach Kathie Sims:
–The game: “I was very proud of our effort starting from the jump. The girls played together, communicated well on defense and stayed locked in on the game plan. Their energy and willingness to support one another on both ends of the floor made a big difference and set the tone for the entire game.”
Quakertown coach Dan Cymerman
–The game: “We knew this would be a great test for our group, and while we didn’t start the game the way we wanted, it provided an opportunity for growth. Turnovers and shot selection hurt us early, and Wissahickon did a strong job getting the ball inside and using their size to finish around the basket.
“At halftime, we challenged our girls to win each possession and take better care of the basketball. Their response was outstanding. The energy, grit, and intensity they brought in the second half was exactly what we were looking for and set the tone for how we want to play.
“After the game, we talked about how far this young team has come. While the record may not reflect it yet, the growth, effort, and commitment we see every day continue to move us in the right direction.”
–Props: “Paisley Heft and Alexa Reich continue to be consistent bright spots for us. Heft stayed aggressive on the offensive end, finishing with nine points and made a big impact defensively with her rebounding and shot blocking despite being undersized in the paint. Reich played all 32 minutes and continues to show toughness and poise beyond her years. She led the team with 10 points. She is growing more comfortable within our offense and remains a reliable presence on the defensive end. Watching a three-sport athlete like Alexa compete every day has been a pleasure for our staff.”

Non-league
SPRINGFIELD TWP 41, SACRED HEART 37
The Spartans opened up a 16-9 lead after one quarter and then threw some serious defense at SHA, allowing just one point in the second quarter. Springfield Twp took a 23-10 lead into halftime and led the rest of the way.
Key players: Five players scored six points or more with Mary Kate Garry, Keira Brandon and Julia Guicheteau leading the way with eight points each.
Springfield Twp coach Dave Giordano:
–The game: “We had a real solid game defensively tonight against a good Sacred Heart team. We played some really strong defense in the first half, holding them to one second-quarter point.
“The second half was a little different as we expected. Shots began to fall for Sacred Heart, and we got into a really good defensive battle. Our girls did a great job handling the pressure in the final five minutes, and we sealed the victory with some timely foul shots. Scoring-wise we had a very balanced scoring night. It was good to have Ava (Culler) back tonight, but it wasn’t just her alone. It was a solid team effort for all who played.”
