Central Bucks South 64, Council Rock South 56
Alex Dietz was in some kind of offensive groove in Saturday’s non-league contest.
After the two teams battled to a 12-12 tie at the end of one quarter, Dietz went to work, erupting for 10 points in a 16-10 second-quarter burst by the Titans. South took a 28-22 lead into halftime and then outscored the Golden Hawks 35-32 in the second half to earn the hard fought win.
“It was a good game, good competition, for sure,” CB South coach Jason Campbell said. “We know CR South plays relentless. They’re tough kids, and I knew playing back-to-back days was going to be a challenge when you play a team like that.
“CR South was everything I saw on film with how hard they play – they set good screens, they can shoot, they can get to the basket. I was happy that for four quarters we did a pretty good job defensively. There were times when we did not, and we had to regroup a little bit and get back to some of our basics.”
Dietz led all scorers with 23 points, which included four three-pointers and a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the foul line. Michael Farley added nine points, and Evan D’Orazio had seven.
“I thought on the offensive side of things we were pretty solid,” Campbell said. “Alex Dietz was Alex Dietz. I think one of the things – after having five games and winning the last four, in those four wins, there’s always been someone different stepping up and performing for us, especially off our bench. Our bench has done a really good job of being ready to play when called upon.
“It’s not really a drop-off in my eyes with the bench players. They’re all hungry for playing time. It’s good to see when called upon guys are stepping up and doing their jobs.”
Campbell credited several players who stepped up in reserve roles.
“Josiah Harrison played some key minutes for us and scored a couple buckets in a row (in the third quarter) with the help of his teammates, and it kind of made a difference momentum-wise when CR South was closing the gap on us,” Campbell said. “Josiah came in and was fed the ball and looked to score inside. He came off the bench getting some points for us, and it was big.
“We were just so well balanced in many areas. Josh Consoletti hit a really big three in the corner for us when the game was close in the fourth quarter. We did a good job of finding him. Josh is a pretty unselfish player, and I’m glad he took the moment when he was wide open to take a shot that he hit.
“John Hackendahl has been consistent with his defense. It’s one of those unsung things. He plays very good defense, and I thought that helped us too. Mike Waltrich was good again, giving us some spark minutes off the bench and hitting a big three before the (first) half was over.”
Jack Rebholz kept the Golden Hawks in it, scoring 11 of his 22 points in each half. Michael Stewart also came up big, finishing with 18 points, which included a pair of threes and a perfect 6-for-6 effort at the foul line. He scored 13 of his points in the second half.
Luca Baratta and Kevin McNamee each added seven points.
Central Bucks South (4-1, 1-0 SOL) will be on the road at Central Bucks East on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (2-3, 1-0) will travel to Neshaminy on Tuesday.

Sparked by the glittering 25-point effort of Christian Guldin, the Rams notched their fourth win in as many outings. They led 8-2 after a low-scoring opening quarter and took a 22-13 lead into halftime. They outscored their hosts in each of the four quarters.
Also for the Rams, Trent Fisher added nine points.
Pennridge (4-0) will travel to Quakertown Tuesday for its SOL opener at 7 p.m.

Bartram 42, Council Rock North 37 (OT)
The Indians struggled to find their offense, scoring just nine points in the first half, but they still were very much in the game, trailing by just a 15-9 count. The Indians’ offense – sparked by two three-pointers from both Bernie Parent and Luke Vliet – came to life in the third quarter, and they outscored their visitors 12-4 to go into the final quarter with a 21-19 advantage. Bartram knotted the score and then outscored the Indians 8-3 in overtime.
Vliet and Hunter Wan both scored 10 points to lead the Indians. Parent added eight in a contest that saw the Indians connect on eight threes and only four two-point baskets.
Council Rock North (1-3, 0-1 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Tuesday.

The Owls kept Saturday’s non-league game against the Red Raiders close for one quarter, trailing by just an 18-12 score. The Raiders put some distance between themselves and their visitors with a 19-9 second quarter to go into halftime with a 37-21 lead. The Owls never seriously threatened.
Aaron Sanders led the Owls with 12 points, which included three three-pointers. James Ashford added 11, Travis Robinson had nine and Jeremiah Alexander contributed seven points.
Bensalem (4-1, 1-0 SOL) will travel to William Tennent on Tuesday.

On the heels of their first win of the season over Wissahickon, the Colonials had a rough day at the Diane Mosco Foundation Shootout at Archbishop Wood. They trailed Ryan 29-11 after one quarter, and the second quarter was more of the same. Ryan took a 57-22 lead into halftime on its way to the lopsided win.
Plymouth Whitemarsh (1-3, 1-0 SOL) will travel to Springfield Township on Tuesday.

Boyertown 61, Quakertown 52
The Panthers played with the Bears for one half – they trailed by just a 27-26 score at the intermission. Jake Hallowell kept the Panthers close with 12 points. The Bears had the better of play in the second half, outscoring their visitors 34-26. Hallowell led the Panthers with 14 points.
Quakertown (0-4, 0-1 SOL) will host Pennridge on Tuesday.

Non-league
Quakertown 52, Salisbury 18
Fallon Grandinetti had the hot hand in the Panthers’ non-league rout of Salisbury. The junior scored a game-high 17 points, which included three three-pointers. It was Grandinetti burying a pair of threes in the opening quarter and freshman Katie Catalano adding six points to propel the Panthers to a commanding 18-5 lead at the end of one quarter.
By halftime, Grandinetti had 10 points and the Panthers led 31-11. Catalano had all eight of her points in the first half, and Carolyn Sipprell added all six of her points in the opening half. Abigail McClaskey also scored six points for the Panthers in the win.
Quakertown (2-2, 0-1 SOL) will host Pennridge on Tuesday.

There are slow starts, and then there’s the Owls’ start in Saturday’s non-league game that saw them go scoreless in the opening quarter. The Owls trailed 21-0 early in the second.
Down but not out, the Owls scored 17 second-quarter points and trialed 30-17 at the intermission. They pulled to within six in the third quarter but could get no closer.
Haley Keenan led the Owls with 15 points, and Pooja Singameni had 10.
Bensalem (1-3, 0-1 SOL) will be on the road at William Tennent on Tuesday.

The Crusaders just had too many weapons.
Timaya Lewis-Eutsey set the tone for a stellar outing with eight points in the first quarter. Teammate Riley Devitis added six, and the Crusaders led 16-8. They added to that lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Indians 21-10 to go into halftime with a 37-18 lead. Lewis-Eustsey scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the half, and Devitis had 14 of her 16 points in the half.
Anna Cairone’s 10-point outing led the Indians. No other player had more than five points.
