Coach Kyle Wilson called Monday’s rout of the visiting Cougars a “much-needed win,” and after opening the season with five straight losses, the win was welcome indeed.
The Trojans – behind 10 points from Harrison Williams – roared out of the gate to a 22-8 lead after one quarter and took a 35-21 advantage into halftime. Matt Compas had eight points in the first half, Jackson Intrieri added six and Justin Rappaport had five.
If there were any doubts about the outcome, the Trojans erased those with a 12-6 third quarter to go on top 47-27. Compas led the third-quarter surge with five points.
Compas, one of three Trojans in double figures, led the way with 21 points. Williams added 15, which included a pair of three-pointers. Intrieri had 11 points, including a pair of threes. Andrew Buck chipped in six points with a pair of three-pointers.
The Trojans – who buried seven baskets from beyond the arc – connected on 12-of-15 at the foul line.

Cheltenham 75, Central 50
Sophomore Justin Moore torched the Lancers for a career-high 26 points to lead the Panthers to their fifth win in as many outings.
“Justin Moore kind of found his pace tonight,” coach Patrick Fleury said. “He was able to find his groove offensively, which we encouraged. He’s a sophomore, so he’s got a lot more years left.
“Just the steady balance of Justin Moore and Saleem Payne and how fast they’ve grown up is amazing.”
The Panthers’ coach lauded the efforts of Moore and Payne at point guard.
“I know tonight you don’t see the 13-point output or 15-point output that you could see from Saleem, but his decisions tonight led to some points that didn’t necessarily come up in his stat sheet,” Fleury said. “Jaelen McGlone and Brandon Scott led us defensively along with Sean Emfinger. You see guys like Mike McClain, Brandon Scott and Sean Emfinger coming into their own. We just look forward to their growth.”
In addition to Moore, Jaelen McGlone scored 16 points, Emfinger had 9 nine points, two steals and one block while Scott added seven points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Travis Coleman added six points and two steals. McClain also had a pair of steals.
“Obviously, this is a game we want to continue to build on and stay hungry for the next game, which we know will be a challenge because it’s always difficult playing that opponent,” Fleury said.

The Lady Panthers staged a heroic comeback, rallying from a 53-41 deficit at the end of three quarters to knot the score and send the game into overtime only to watch Academy Park win it with four seconds remaining in OT.
“We were down as much as 18 and battled back to send it to OT,” coach Ben Bowman said. “Poor decisions and execution late in the game hurt us. This one hurts, but we as a team we have to learn and keep working hard.”
The Lady Panthers – behind nine points from Cashmear Moore – led 17-13 after one quarter, but Academy Park responded with a 19-7 second quarter tear to go into halftime with a 32-24 advantage. The Knights added to that lead in the third quarter before the Lady Panthers rallied.
