Check out the recaps for SOL boys/girls basketball teams in action Monday.

Boys
Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 59, NESHAMINY 34
The Titans raced out of the gate to a 19-4 lead after one quarter on their way to the convincing non-league win.
The Redskins were minus a key starter and – in the absence of coach Mark Tingle – were coached by assistant Alex Karras, who played basketball at CB South.
“It was kind of neat – the first time he gets to coach a high school game, it’s at his old stomping ground,” CB South coach Louie Ditri said. “I was the assistant when he played for us under Jason Campbell.
“I said it to my kids – ‘Don’t be offended, but Alex is one of my favorite players to ever come through South.’ I’ve been at CB South for 20 years, and Alex is on the top five list of my favorite players.
“I’ve tried to get him over to our staff the last two years, but he does a great job. He teaches in the Neshaminy School District, so he’s at home there. He’s a great kid, great family. It was neat to coach against him.”
Key stretch: The Titans took early control, opening up a 19-4 lead after one quarter.
Players of the Game: Brett Barrett & Cole DiEmidio jumpstarted the Titans, combining for 15 points in the first quarter. Barrett’s 16 points led the Titans.
Central Bucks South coach Louie Ditri: “They were a little shorthanded, which helped. We had a good start shooting, and the defense came out on fire. We had a nice start – we were up 12-0. We had the mindset of starting off fast and playing four quarters.
“In three of our losses, we’ve had the lead in the fourth quarter, and we had a bad run in the fourth quarter. Our mindset was to start strong, start fast, and we did.”
–Props: “Brett Barrett and Cole DiEmidio had a strong first quarter. Cole scored eight, Barrett had seven, and they really set the tone for us. Everybody contributed.
“It was a game where we got solid energy off the bench on both ends of the court. To hold a team like that who can score to 34 points – on both sides of the ball, kids were coming out ready to go. The intensity and effort was there – we were winning a lot of 50-50 balls.”
–Big on the boards: “Leo Medwid only had four points, but he had 11 rebounds, three steals. He was one of the energy guys that really set the tone early, doing the stuff that doesn’t necessarily show up on the scoreboard.”
Up next: Central Bucks South (2-3) will travel to Central Bucks East for Friday’s SOL opener, and Neshaminy (3-2) will be on the road at Pennridge for a non-league game Wednesday.

Bobby Hartman’s nine points in the first quarter propelled the Spartans to a 15-9 lead. They took a 30-13 lead into halftime on their way to the win.
Hartman led the Spartans with 17 points. Jack McGuckin had eight points, five rebounds and three steals, and Aiden Hood contributed eight points and 10 rebounds.
Player of the Game: Springfield Twp senior Bobby Hartman led the Spartans with 17 points, including 12 points in a first half that saw the Spartans open up a 30-13 advantage.
Springfield Twp coach Rob Fusaro: “We got up a fairly good amount early. We missed a lot of easy layups – sometimes that happens. They fought through it. It got to be a six-point game – we centered it, and they stayed consistent. We have a solid core group that’s been around for a while. They know how to manage a game, they know how to finish it out.
“I told them – that will serve them well when they’re playing against Suburban One teams and hold that competition level high.”
–Props: “Bobby Hartman did a great job. He was strong, he played through a lot of contact, he made some big shots.
“Aiden Hood had a rougher first half but really responded well and made some key plays to start the second half.
“Collectively as a group, we controlled the game and did what we needed to do to finish it out and finished it out on a high note.”
Up next: Springfield Twp (3-1) will host Martin Luther in a non-league game Tuesday (6 pm).

Girls
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 55, LOWER MORELAND 41
The Titans rebounded from a 14-10 deficit after one quarter to take a 29-20 lead into halftime on their way to the win. Mia Klein ignited the Titans, scoring nine points in the pivotal second quarter.
Key stretch: South – which trailed by four after one quarter – outscored the Lions 19-6 in the second quarter.
Players of the game: Mia Klein (16 points), Jules Tropea (16 points) & Gabby Tropea (15 points) were a triple threat on attack for the Titans.
Central Bucks South coach Beth Mattern: “Lower Moreland is a tough team to play, they never quit fighting and make you earn your successes.”
–Props: “Jules, Gabby, and Mia all had big games in the scorebook. They worked really hard and took advantage of opportunities that came their way. They each had a quarter where they dominated.”
–Unsung hero: “Ella Wheeler may not show up with a lot of points tonight but her continuous efforts on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor help our team succeed in so many ways.”
Lower Moreland coach Rich Becker: “We knew going into the game that it was going to be a battle. We have a seven-player rotation, and two of them were out. CB South has good size, and we were missing two of our best rebounders, and they were able to take advantage of that. Forty-seven of their 55 points were scored by their three bigs.
“With that being said, we had the lead until about three minutes left in the (first) half. They made a run, and we weren’t able to overcome that deficit. We told the girls afterwards that we were happy with the effort, but we just need to eliminate some of our self-inflicted wounds.”
—Props: “Being shorthanded allowed us to get a longer look at Keira Huber, who came off the bench to give us solid minutes. For the past two years, Keira’s been battling illness and injury. She’s such a great kid and did a nice job and took advantage of her opportunity tonight. We were happy for her.”
—More props: “We can’t say enough great things about our three seniors. Dani and Bri get the headlines, but Nikki Sahl (playing soccer at East Stroudsburg next year) has always been high energy on defense. She’s starting to contribute on offense and is the type of competitor that sets the tone for the rest of the team.”
Up next: Central Bucks South (3-2) will host Central Bucks East in its SOL opener Wednesday. Lower Moreland (2-1) will travel to Cheltenham for Friday’s SOL opener.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 40, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 32
The Hatters had their full roster for the first time this season, and they celebrated by notching their first win of the season.
The Hatters led 9-4 after one quarter but fell behind 18-14 at halftime. They came out of halftime and outscored their visitors 26-14 in the second half.

Key stretch: The Hatters rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to outscore Ryan 16-6 in the third quarter to take a lead they would not lose.
Player of the Game: Angelica Visceglia made her presence felt in her return to the lineup, scoring a team high 11 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers in a 16-point third quarter.
Hatboro-Horsham coach Nicole Miletto: “It was good to finally be home and in front of our crowd. We are still not playing our best basketball, and we are struggling to be consistent, but anytime you can come away with a win it’s a good night.
“We finally had all of our girls back even though their playing time was limited tonight.
“It took a us into the second half to really get going. We ended our last game with some good intensity, and it was hard to get that going tonight. After letting up double-digit second quarter, we held Ryan to single digits in the last two quarters.
“Our team is young. and we are improving each week. We just have to limit unforced errors and take better care of the basketball. Two more tough games this week will show us what we’re made of and what we need to focus on”
–Props: “Sophomore guard Angelica Visceglia got into her first game tonight and had 11 points and knocked down a couple of 3s when we needed a boost.
“Freshman Olivia Grant continues to get better and contributes every time she’s on the court scoring and rebounding. Junior Maddy Patel added 10 points in the winning effort.

Sunday, Dec. 8
Bristol Tournament
NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 41, UPPER MORELAND 37
The Lions took a 32-21 lead into the fourth quarter of Sunday’s title game and then withstood a furious Upper Moreland comeback to earn the win.
Sunday’s game between the SOL Freedom Division rivals is a preview of a pair of division contests that promise to once again be spirited battles.
UM’s Lianna Adames scored a game-high 15 points, which included three 3-pointers. Teammate Mikel Lancit added 10.
Key stretch: The Lions, who took a 21-17 lead into halftime, outscored UM 11-4 in the third quarter to take a double-digit lead into the final quarter. Emily Wilson’s seven points in the quarter led the way and included a 4-for-4 effort at the foul line.
Players of the game: The tournament title was a team effort for a small Lions’ squad, but leading the way were tournament MVP Emily Wilson (11 points, 7-for-8 foul line) and freshman Mary Tresler (10 points).
New Hope-Solebury coach Andy Krasna on the game: “We jumped off to another fast start. However, Upper Moreland was able to get back into the game every time we were able to extend our lead. They’re able to find open players to hit open 3s. We knew that would be a part of their game plan, but it was still very hard to stop, even when anticipating it.
“I am really proud of this team. They are so much fun to coach, and I was happy to see them smiling and laughing after the win.”
–Props: “Freshman Mary Tresler had another big game with 10 points and being named to the all-tournament team. She rebounds like a lion! We only gave up four free throw attempts as we were able to keep Upper Moreland out of the paint.
“Ella Dudick blocks and alters so many shots. She played terrific help defense today and forced Upper Moreland to think twice about driving to the basket. Kayla Fennell had a big game adding nine points and hit a big free throw with a few seconds left in the game to seal the victory. Izzy Elizondo was a playmaker all game, setting up her teammates for scoring opportunities.
“Emily Wilson had the assignment of guarding Mikel Lancit for a good part of the game and slowed her down significantly, which is a difficult task. Emily added 11 points and was named tournament MVP for her performance over the two-game tournament.”
Up next: New Hope-Solebury (3-0) will host Springfield Twp in Friday’s SOL opener. Upper Moreland (4-1) will travel to Wissahickon for a non-league contest Tuesday.
