Check out the recaps for SOL boys/girls’ basketball teams in action Tuesday.

Boys
Non-league
SPRINGFIELD TWP 56, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 45
The visiting Spartans led 10-9 after one quarter and then outscored their hosts 33-21 over the next two to seize control on their way to the non-league road win.
The win solidified the Spartans’ spot in the 12-team District 1 5A Tournament. They were 10th heading into tonight’s game.
Key players: Will Cooney led the Spartans with 15 points – which included an 8-for-10 effort at the foul line – and seven rebounds. Aiden Hood contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Will McLaughlin had eight points, five assists and three steals in an all-around strong outing.
Springfield Twp coach Rob Fusaro:
–On taking control in the second and third quarters: “It was really good pressure by us. Our trapping was good, our full-court press was good. We kind of manipulated ourselves into getting some points off that.”
–Props: “Will Cooney shot the ball extremely well tonight. He stepped up and hit a lot of big shots and got a lot of big rebounds. Aiden Hood was super solid. Will McLaughlin came out and scored pretty well too.
“They were all just really confident going in there, wanted to prove themselves. Every single guy played a great game that was in there. Even the guys on the bench – they were locked in and ready to go. It was a great win, especially on the road. Their gym is a little bit smaller, and they have fans right behind you. Our guys did a really nice job of going out and executing. They stayed consistent, controlled the game and just executed what they needed to do to close it out.”
–A team effort: “It’s sometimes someone different every game. We tell the guys – everybody can step up at any time. They do a great job of all being there for each other. If somebody’s down, somebody picks the other person up in different aspects of the game – rebounding, shooting, defensive intensity, whatever it might be, but they’re locked in defensively as a group.
“We’ve had this same group trending this whole program since year one. Now we’re in year five. These guys have seen the ups, they’ve seen the downs. I told them – they deserve every bit of success they’ve had because they’ve all really bought into it and worked extremely hard in the offseason. They’ve bought into our system, bought into what we’re doing, and it’s a credit to them. Game by game – everybody fills their role. It’s a really nice team unit.
Especially the seniors – I want them to have a really strong senior year and feel good about putting this program where it should be – going from zero (wins) to 12-8 right now, and hopefully, we can keep it going. It’s been a fun group.”
Next up: Springfield Twp (12-8, 4-5 SOL) will host Cheltenham Tuesday.

Girls
HATBORO-HORSHAM 47, POTTSGROVE 46
The Hatters recovered from a slow start to earn the come-from-behind non-league win over the visiting Falcons, winning a thriller when junior Mia Fisher converted a layup with four seconds remaining in regulation.
“It was a good comeback team win tonight,” Hatboro-Horsham assistant coach Nicole Miletto said. “The girls really needed this win tonight. With the season coming to an end away at Wissahickon tomorrow, it was nice to get one in the win column.”
The Hatters managed just two points in the first quarter on a pair of Angelica Visceglia foul shots and trailed 14-2. They still found themselves on the short end of a 27-16 score at halftime.
Key stretch: The Hatters’ offense came to life in the third quarter, outscoring their visitors 18-11 to make it a 38-34 game heading into the final quarter. They won it with a 13-8 fourth quarter. Maddy Patel’s nine second-half points led the way. Madison Siegfried had a pair of 3s.
Key players: Maddy Patel scored a team-high 15 points, and Angelica Visceglia added 10 points.
Hatboro-Horsham assistant coach Nicole Miletto: “In typical Hatter fashion, we came out flat in the first half. Only scoring two points in the first quarter put us in a deep hole game-wise and mentally. It’s been a theme this year that it takes us some time to get going. Shots are still hard to come by for us. We get some good looks, but they just don’t fall.
“We tried not to rush shots tonight. We are most successful when we are patient, and it finally clicked for us in the third quarter, and it was a dogfight until the end from there. Pottsgrove moved the ball well and fed their forwards inside. We had some sloppy lazy defense that they capitalized on. They also were knocking down jumpers on us and out rebounded us.”
–Props: “Senior Maddy Patel hit some big shots for us, and sophomore Madison Siegfried came off the bench and hit two 3s to help lead the comeback. Freshman Olivia Grant was quiet offensively but had some nice blocks and key defensive rebounds. Sophomore Angelica Visceglia added 10 points and was 4-for-6 from the line. Junior Mia Fisher, who isn’t always scoring a lot for us but does lots of good things that don’t show up in the box score, finished a layup to put us up by one with four seconds to go, and our defense held. Hoping to take that positive energy into tomorrow’s season finale at Wissahickon.”
Next up: Hatboro-Horsham (4-16, 1-6 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon on Tuesday.
