Sam Lewis scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Indians’ attack. Andrew Zazoff added the hat trick, but not to be overlooked was the standout effort of the Indians’ defense.
“We battled the weather and a slow start,” Rock North coach John Fitzpatrick said. “Our defense held the fort down until the offense got its feet under them.”
Comprising the defense were Nate Rambo, Ethan Stanford, Noah Epstein and Erik Urbaniak and goalie Timmy Schaffer, who recorded nine saves.
The Indians took a 4-2 lead into halftime and then put some distance between themselves and the Golden Bears with a 6-2 second half.
“Freshman EJ Allians came in and turned the game around,” said Fitzpatrick.
Allians won 8-of-12 faceoffs.
Lewis and Rambo each had three ground balls to lead the Indians. Dylan Kavanaugh had two ground balls and also scored a goal. Dean Scalamandre also had a goal.

It’s a rare day a lacrosse team can celebrate its win by making snow angels, but that’s exactly what the Flying Cardinals did after playing the final minutes of their hard fought win in a snow squall.
“It was awful – it was freezing,” UD coach Dee Cross said of the inclement weather. “They didn’t have a lot of wiggle room in their schedule, and that was one of the main reasons we played.
“It was fine until the end We held the ball for over two minutes because if we passed it – you couldn’t see the ball.”
Aditi Foster played a starring role, erupting for seven goals and also contributing two assists. Paige Dinkel had two goals and one assist. Cami Rosenthal, Kelly Senior and Tess Reardon each had one goal. Reardon scored a goal with 3:44 remaining that held up for the game-winner. Anna DiMartile had one assist.
Alli Gay had four draw controls and two caused turnovers while Ava Costanzo had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Dara Rosenthal earned the win in goal for the Cardinals, turning away nine shots.
“The game was back and forth with neither team holding more than a two-goal lead the whole game,” said Cross, whose team trailed 6-5 at halftime. “Aditi Foster had a great game finding the cage and the rest of the offense was able to get open in the second half to contribute.
“We have a young midfield so holding on to the ball at the end of the game was key. The snow squalls were picking up, so we just tried to run the ball since visibility was tough. Boyertown is a well-coached team, and they came at us with everything they had.
“The defense held strong to get us key possessions in the second half and the end of the game. Erin Eby, Ava Costanzo, Abby O’Meara and Allie Gay worked well together. Freshman Anna DiMartile had a solid game at midfield coming up with draw controls and caused turnovers at crucial times. Sophia Sirianni and Paige Dinkel helped to get the ball through the midfield. It was an overall team win today.”
For the Bears, Ali Piole had two goals and one assist. Allie Schell, Alina Fritz and Hannah Adamski had two goals each while Delaney Fox, Jasmine Fink and Emma Beidler had one goal each.
Upper Dublin (1-0) will host Pennridge on Wednesday.

The Indians overcame the elements to open up a 7-4 halftime lead on the way to their second win in three games. Morgan McCaffery’s hat trick led the visitors.
“It was a real team effort in the snow and cold,” CRN coach Denise Noseworthy said. “Our defense was key to the win – Bella Carpentier, Marlena Ries, Mia Rolli and Kaitlyn Forsythe as well as (goalie) Rylee Roe Lipsky.
“The offense (did a good job) moving the ball around.”
Also for the Indians, Liza McBride, Ali Carpentier and Charlotte Ondria each had two goals. Julie Ondria and Maddie Mela both had one goal.
For the Golden Bears, Annaliese Messina led the way with four goals and Olivia Meakim added three goals and one assist. Charlotte James had one goal. Avery Adamski had a pair of helpers while Willow Taylor, Bree Knox, Isabel Leiter and Heidi Wittick each had one assist.
Wittick, according to UM coach Kim Frantz, led the team in ground balls and had a great game overall while Annaliese Messina led the Bears in draw controls.
Emma Hurley had eight saves in goal for UM.

Senior Emma Baker had a hand in 10 goals, scoring six and assisting on four others. Freshman Alexa McCabe added four goals in an impressive debut, and the Trojans’ defense limited the Monarchs to just one goal after the intermission.
Although the weather was anything but ideal, the outcome couldn’t have been better for Nicole Fisher, who has taken over the helm of the team.
“For our first true game together that I was able to step in and coach, the girls battled the elements such as the cold and snow squalls, and we pulled out the win even when we had obstacles to overcome” Fisher said. “We struggled with showing consistent body and stick control that resulted in a few too many fouls. However, the girls stuck together and got the job done.
“Specifically, I was super impressed with our attackers as they made sure each possession was purposeful and worked together to put the ball away. Emma Baker had 6 goals and 4 assists and freshman Alexa McCabe had 4 goals. This momentum started with Alexis Hobson on the draw and with Emma Baker and Emma Greenberg in the midfield.”
The Trojans held a tenuous 9-8 lead at halftime but outscored the Monarchs 5-1 in the second half.
“Our defense also stepped up when we needed. Camille Hubbs had some important saves,” Fisher said. “All around it was a team win, but I am looking forward to getting to work and growing together.”
Hubbs had nine saves in goal in a winning effort.
Wissahickon (2-0) will host Central Bucks South on Wednesday.
