CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 8, KENNETT 7 (OT)
The Titans rallied from a 6-3 halftime deficit to force overtime, winning it in dramatic fashion when Dante Poli scored the game winner.
“This was real big after what we went through the other night with CB West,” coach Mike Strayline said of his team’s 11-3 loss to the Bucks. “The emotions of being down and winning – we played solid tonight.
“We made mistakes, but we overcame those mistakes in the end and ended up winning.”
It couldn’t have happened without the strong play in goal of Bobby Sautner, who had 11 saves.
“He had five saves in the fourth quarter, and we were down almost the entire fourth quarter,” Strayline said. “If he doesn’t make those saves, we end up losing the game.
“Our defense stepped up big time in the second half, and Bobby made those saves when we needed them.”
Strayline also credited Chris Surina for anchoring the Titans’ stingy defense.
“He was huge,” the Titans’ coach said. “He’s the leader of our defense. He kept everybody calm and focused, and we came back and we won.”
It didn’t look as though there would be a whole lot of celebrating when Kennett used a 5-2 second quarter to go on top 6-3 at the intermission.
“We pulled them aside and talked to them at halftime and said, ‘Look, we’re right here in this game. We just need to relax and keep playing,’” Strayline said. “We had a lot of turnovers in the first half, which caused a problem.
“We played solid defense in the second half and only gave up one goal. We clawed back into the game.”
Poli scored the equalizer with just over a minute remaining in regulation after Strayline called a timeout to set up a play.
“After the ensuing faceoff, they had possession, and we stopped them,” Strayline said. “We won the faceoff in overtime, and we got possession.
“I called timeout, and myself and my offensive coordinator discussed what we wanted to run.”
Poli finished the game with two goals and two assists. Senior Ian Vogt led the offense with four goals and one assist. Austin Novick and Dan Mignogna had one goal and one assist each. Angus Ballentine contributed an assist.
Senior Mark Lumb won 4-of-7 face-offs while Matt Stoll was 3-for-4 on face-offs.
Central Bucks South (4-4, 1-1 SOL) will host Council Rock South on Friday at 7 p.m.

NORTH PENN 17, UPPER MORELAND 1
The Knights took out any frustrations they may have been feeling after a 13-2 loss to Central Bucks West one day earlier on the Golden Bears, who brought an 8-1 record into the game.
“Our team recovered from yesterday’s loss and less-than-stellar performance against CB West with a very strong showing against Upper Moreland,” coach Heather Mellow said. “The whole team had a great game.”
Perhaps no one had a better game than junior Bri O’Donnell, who scored seven goals to lead the Knights. Her
fourth goal of a productive afternoon was the 100th of her career. It came in a first half that saw the Knights roll to a 12-1 lead.
“Bri O’Donnell really stepped up today,” Mellow said.
The Knights did not allow a goal in the second half.
“Our defense was solid, did a great job of reading their offense,” Mellow said. “Our midfielders won the majority of the draw controls, making sure we constantly had possession.
“And the attack played well together, really seeing the open player or space. We finally clicked.”
Victoria Brauenle had three goals, two assists and three draw controls. Kaitlyn Phifer had two goals and four draw controls. Kristin Varilla and Kelly Macnamara each had one goal and one assist. Contributing one goal each were Heather Shannon, Julia Keffer and Grace Sacchetti. Mikayla Barrow had one assist and four draw controls while Jess Selverian and Sam Tossona each had one assist.
Sydney Bachmayer accounted for the Golden Bears’ only goal.
North Penn (4-5, 1-2 SOL) will host Parkland on Saturday in a non-league contest, and Upper Moreland (8-2, 3-1) will host Souderton on Monday.
