UPPER MORELAND 14, SPRINGFIELD TWP 13 (OT)
For Springfield, it was a sterling effort with a heartbreaking result. For Upper Moreland, it was a thrilling finish after the Spartans rallied to knot the score.
“Overall, we did a great job keeping our composure at the end of the game when it mattered most, and never giving up throughout the whole game despite losing a six-goal lead that we got in the first few minutes of the game,” UM coach Kim Frantz said. “We are still working on getting our chemistry back as a team, but this is a step in the right direction.
“After coming off a few tough loses, they worked hard and played with heart today. I'm proud of how this team is doing, and being young, we have had our glitches, but every day we are learning and growing, and that is what is important.”
Allison Felicetti – who led the Spartans with five goals to go along with one assist – scored the game winner in OT.
“Allison Felicetti came up big for us in this game,” Frantz said. “At one point, we pulled Allison out of the game and talked to her about going out and being a leader on the field, and when she went back in, that is exactly what she did.
“She helped bring the team back together and kept them focused. She dominated the field. She was focused and showed great leadership today.”
The Golden Bears, after leading by six early, still led 8-5 at halftime only to watch the Spartans rally to knot the score at the end of regulation.
“Springfield did a nice job on defense and getting us off our game by winning the majority of the draw controls in the second part of the first half and the beginning of the second half,” Frantz said.
Sydney Bachmayer had a huge game for the Golden Bears, finishing with four goals and two assists to go along with five draw controls and six groundballs. Meghan O’Donnell had two goals and one assist while Cassidy Hirsch, Emma Meakim and Jessica Flanagan (assist) each had one goal.

Mack Moore (also one assist), Hannah Reape and Becky Browndorf each added a goal.
“The defense really stepped up in the second half,” UD head coach Dee Cross said. “Shannon Reape, Demi Balasa, Elizabeth Barber, Maddie Templeton and goalie Sarah Herchenroder worked great together. Barber had key ground balls and transitioned the ball well to give us possession.”
Reape and Templeton each had five groundballs for the Cardinals.
After shooting just 4-for-16 in the first half, UD finally found some luck in the second half.
“Their goalie had some nice saves and really challenged us to place our shots,” Cross said.

Emily Keller scored two goals, while Caroline McGovern, Faith Turner and Mikayla VanAken also found the back of the net. VanAken added an assist, as did Sarah Womer.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 17, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0
The Bucks’ performance in Wednesday’s win over the Patriots wasn't perfect, but it came pretty close as they dominated play for 50 minutes.
“(We) played an amazing game and really came together,” coach Tara Schmucker said. “Offensively, there were great connections, and defensively, they looked solid and translated what we have been working on in practice.”
Shutouts are nigh impossible to get in the sport of lacrosse, but the Bucks would not be denied, thwarting every East attempt to get on the scoreboard. Lauren Devlin came up big when the Patriots did manage a shot, turning away the only three shots she faced.
“The whole defensive unit really executed this afternoon,” said Schmucker, lauding her defensive unit of Meghan Darcy, Rachel Shaw, Lucy Varner, Abby Fennell, Maddie Maio, Bryn Boylan, Casey Reichwein and Devlin. “(They) all deserve some recognition.
“Meghan Darcy especially had a standout performance with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Casey Reichwein was excellent on the draw with 10 (draw controls).
“Bryn Boylan was a commanding presence with seven goals, seven ground balls, one assist, one caused turnover and three draw controls.”
Finley Ueland and Dani Dundas both collected a hat trick. Ueland added a pair of assists while Dundas had one. Camryn Albrecht added a pair of goals while Reichwein and Maio had one each. Maio also had an assist and Liv Fitzgerald had a pair of helpers.
Reichwein won the opening draw, and the Bucks were off and running, scoring just over a minute into the game when Reichwein found Boylan for the score. Another Boylan goal was followed by a Reichwein goal.
After Reichwein won the first three draws, Boylan won the fourth, and this time it was Maio finding Dundas for the score.
“They dominated the draw when it counted, and then we got frustrated and started rushing things,” East coach David Schlesinger said. “That’s a team that doesn’t drop the ball, moves the ball quickly, knows where it’s supposed to be and plays aggressively. That’s a team that ultimately we want to emulate. We’re just not there yet.”
Another Boylan draw control set up a goal that gave the senior captain – with a Dundas assist – a hat trick just five minutes into the game.
“Both teams always come out to play,” Boylan said. “As a senior especially, it’s really exciting, and I think this is the greatest way to go out – my last East/West game. I’m just really proud of how we all played today.”
By halftime, the Bucks led 10-0 on their way to the impressive win.
“In the past, we’ve had some issues with coming out with this kind of intensity,” Schmucker said. “We played them really close last year (in an 12-11 overtime West win), and I think they knew if they executed what kind of game it could be.
“I think they were ready to redeem themselves a little bit from last year.”
“They took us to overtime last year, so it was really good this year that we came back,” Darcy said. “We had a shutout, which is really awesome because we never had that before.
“I think everything really came together what we’ve been practicing, and we were able to implement it today to get the win. I’ve played with some of those girls since second grade, and it’s really amazing to come out senior year and to get the win.”
Central Bucks West (11-0, 4-0 SOL) will host Methacton on Saturday in a non-league contest, and Central Bucks East (7-5, 3-2) will host Emmaus on Friday in a non-league game.
