PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 13, NORTH PENN 5
The Colonials seized early control of Friday’s non-league contest, opening up a 5-1 halftime lead and never looking back.
“We played a very sloppy first half,” North Penn coach Heather Mellow said. “PW dominated on draw controls, and it was in our defensive end a good portion of the game.
“Once we did get some draws, we were able to spark a bit of offense, but the gap was too big to recover from.”
Vic Betterly had a huge eight-point game for the Colonials, scoring four goals and assisting on four others. Ali Diamond, Raquel Baskin, Lexi Petrakis and Sophie Kolkka each added two goals and one assist. Kennedy Reardon contributed a single goal.
“(Our) midfielders took care of the draw, and we were balanced on attack,” PW coach Ellen Reilly said. “Defensively, we created positive turnovers that started our transition.
“North Penn came out more aggressive and outhustled us in scoring the first three goals to start the second half, bringing the score to 7-4. (We) took a timeout, and they settled themselves, which led to regaining draw control and turning the possessions into goals.”
For the Knights, Bri O’Donnell had a goal and an assist while Grace Sacchetti, Kelly Macnamara, Mikayla Barrow and Heather Shannon each added one goal.
Amber Lambert was credited with seven saves in goal.
