COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 11, UPPER MORELAND 8
The Golden Hawks – deadlocked with the Bears 3-3 after one quarter – found themselves on the short end of a 4-3 score at the intermission. They outscored the Golden Bears 4-1 in the third quarter and 8-4 in the second half.
“We just took a little better care of the ball,” South coach Mike Murray said. “With all the rain, this was only the second time we had been out.
“Other than one game, we haven’t had one practice on our home field yet.”
Contributing hat tricks to lead the Hawks were Austin Gambino and Brandon Follis. Chase Patterson and Philip Mignacca each had a pair of goals. Brendan Gambino had a single goal. Patterson was a force at the face-off X.
“Chase won 70 percent of them,” Murray said.
Council Rock South (1-1) will travel to Quakertown on Friday, the second of four games in five days for the Golden Hawks. Upper Moreland (0-4) will host Archbishop Ryan next Thursday.

PENNSBURY 9, ABINGTON 4
The Falcons raced out of the starting block to a 7-0 halftime lead on their way to the non-league win.
Ben Abraham led the attack with five goals and an assist, and Nick Sutton had three goals and an assist. Luke Vando closed out the scoring with a single goal to go along with six ground balls. Charlie Nuschke scooped up six ground balls, and Jake Krefetz had five ground balls. Krefetz dominated at the face-off X, winning 12-of-15.
Pennsbury goalie Tim Davis turned away seven shots in a winning effort.
Pennsbury (3-0) will be on the road at Holy Ghost on Saturday, and Abington (2-2) will travel to Council Rock North on Monday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 10, HATBORO-HORSHAM 2
The Bucks continued their torrid start, winning for the fifth time without a loss. They led 2-1 after one quarter but then put some distance between themselves and their visitors with a 4-0 second quarter. They took an 8-1 lead into the final frame.
Joey Rockovich led a balanced attack with three goals and an assist. Erik Ojert had a hand in three goals, scoring once and assisting on two other. Ben Sexauer had a pair of goals while John McCreary, Michael Samson, Blake Ewaskey and Christian Kunkel had one goal each. Ben Huang had an assist.
Ian Riley had both Hatter goals.
For the Bucks in goal, Max Dunar recorded six saves and allowed one goal while TJ Kelly had two saves and allowed one goal. Garrett Hitchens won 8-of-15 face-offs.
Central Bucks West (5-0) is off until next Thursday when the Bucks will host Pennridge at 7 p.m. Hatboro-Horsham (0-2) will be on the road at Central Bucks South on Wednesday.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 6, GREAT VALLEY 5
Ian Waitkus scored with six seconds remaining to propel the Indians to the heartstopping win over the visiting Patriots, who tied the game with a minute remaining.
“We let them back in the game,” said coach John Fitzpatrick, whose team led 4-2. “Dan Guest won the face-off, and he squirted it down to Luke Waltrum, who fed my other attackman.
“Great Valley is very good team in their division, so getting a win like that is a quality win for us. They beat us in overtime at Great Valley last year in a downpour, 11-10, so it was nice to return the favor.”
Waitkus scored the game winner, but it was goalie Robbie Kay who kept the Indians in it, turning away 14 shots in a stellar outing.
“He was outstanding,” Fitzpatrick said. “He was the story throughout the game as well as my defense.”
Waitkus and Peter Lehman both had two goals and one assist to lead the Indians. Waltrum added a goal and an assist, and Brendan McLaughlin had one goal to close out the scoring.
Council Rock North (3-2, 0-1 SOL) will travel to Methacton on Saturday for a 10 a.m. contest.
SOUDERTON 7, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 3
Goalie Axell Beskar stole the spotlight in Thursday’s non-league win for the Indians, turning away 14 of 17 shots he faced.
“Beskar continues to be sensational in goal for us,” coach Mark Princehorn said. “The kid is playing at a very high level.”
The Indians’ coach went on to acknowledge the strong showing of his defense.
“(We did a) great job defensively,” Princehorn said. “Credit to Rory Sinkinson, Nick Guthre, Feargus Evanick, Luke Atiyeh, Kain Turner, Zach Gordon, Matt Halteman, Matt Lista and Matt Jacobs.”
On attack, Stephen Blue led the way with three goals and an assist. Walker Martin and Cole Witoslawski each had a pair of goals, and Adam Booz chipped in an assist.
Souderton (2-2) will host Upper Darby on Pediatric Cancer Night on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
UPPER DUBLIN 13, ACADEMY OF THE NEW CHURCH 8
The Cardinals remained perfect on the season with an impressive win over ANC. The two teams were deadlocked 4-4 after one quarter, and the Cards led by just one at halftime, 6-5. They outscored ANC 7-3 in the second half.
Luke Roselli played a key role in the victory, winning 17-of-23 face-offs. Jerry Bardol led a balanced attack with four goals and an assist. Max Winebrake had three goals and one assist. Brian McCarry and Roselli each had two goals and one assist, and Jason Williams added a goal and three assists. Cary Romig chipped in one goal and an assist, and Colin Asper added an assist.
Body Balasa was credited with four ground balls and one caused turnover. Nick Sowers, Romig, Winebrake and Anthony Cerminara each had three ground balls. Sowers also had a caused turnover. Jake DiMartile and Williams both had two grounds balls, and contributing one ground ball each were Bardol, Jed Hanson and Sam Kassar.
Upper Dublin (4-0) will travel to Ocean City High School (N.J.) on Friday for a non-league contest.

Nick Fanelli scored six goals and assisted on another while teammate Logan Lazasz also had a hand in seven goals, scoring four and assisting on three others. Kevin Britner had a goal and two assists, and Grant Wenger had a pair of goals. Ryan Garner had four helpers.
In goal, Triston Banks turned away 10 shots in a winning effort.
In a tightly contested non-league war, the Rams, who led 3-2 after one quarter, took a 6-5 lead into halftime. It was still a one-goal game heading into the final quarter when the Rams closed it out with a 4-2 frame.
Pennridge (4-0) will be on the road at Unionville on Monday.

UPPER MORELAND 13, JENKINTOWN 7
The Golden Bears upped their early season record to 5-0 with Thursday’s non-league win over the Drakes.
Jess Flanagan’s four-goal effort led a balanced attack. Chloe Leiter added a hat trick while Bryanna Gordon and Cassidy Hirsch both had two goals. Hirsch also had a pair of assists. Emma Meakim had one goal and two assists, and Megan O’Donnell added a single goal.
Moira Olexa had a team high four assists while AbbyEllen Wood and Claudia Zanine had one helper each.
Goalie Cheyanne Grumm recorded nine saves in the win for the Bears, who led 8-4 at the intermission.
Upper Moreland (5-0) will be on the road at Quakertown on Wednesday.

The Golden Hawks found themselves locked in a 2-2 tie at halftime but outscored their hosts 4-2 in the second half.
Credit a stern but inspirational halftime talk for the turnaround.
“For whatever reason, we’ve been a second half team our first two games this season,” coach Madison Hurwitz said.
Sophomore Claudia Steinmetz scored four goals to lead the Golden Hawks. Lauren Mitchell, Caitlyn Thornton, Rianna Shields and Carissa Longmore each added one goal.
Council Rock South (2-0) will travel to Methacton on Saturday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 16, HATBORO-HORSHAM 4
Brigitte Bishop scored six goals and Katie Powell had four to lead the Patriots to the no-doubt-about-it win.
The Patriots led 7-2 at halftime and then outscored their hosts 9-2 in the second half.
Central Bucks East (1-1) will host Abington Friday. Hatboro-Horsham will host Central Bucks South Friday at 3:45pm.
