What a difference a half can make.
The Falcons battled the Vikings to a 6-6 halftime tie. The second half was another story entirely as the Falcons outscored their hosts 7-1.
“It was very back and forth the entire first half,” coach Shannon MacPherson said. “At halftime, I just told them, ‘You guys need to go out and play your game. You’re playing their game right now. You’ve been working hard all season. You need a win today.’
“They went out, and basically what happened was we took care of the ball on attack. We were just driving to goal. We had a lot of nice feeds for goals, and every ground ball – we were the first one to it. We just played a lot more aggressive. We were playing to win in that second half, which is what we needed.”
The Vikings scored their lone goal of the second half early on. The Falcons’ defense held them off the rest of the way.
“Really, possession was just key,” MacPherson said. “We possessed the ball the rest of that second half.
“My goalie, Natalie Smith, had some really nice saves today, which definitely helped us pull out the win. They just played pretty lacrosse today, and it was fun watching them play today too, because they were having fun, and they were doing really good things.
“They were working on our plays, they were transitioning well, they had really nice feeds to each other, they were moving the goalie. I felt like everything we’ve been working toward this season came together in that second half. It was just rewarding for the girls and just nice to see that happen. I tell them all the time – ‘You guys are improving, you are getting better. The score doesn’t always reflect that, but you girls are working really hard, and you are getting better.’ I think the second half of that game today showed it.”
Lily Nolan had six goals and Annie Price added five to lead the Falcons. Price also had an assist. Emelie Curtis and Amelia Sharp each added single goals. Curtis also had a pair of assists while Sarah Mac Davis, Brooke Weaver, Nell Webber and Mia Doron each had one assist.
“It was pretty much a full team effort today,” MacPherson said. “Our defense was doing a really nice job of stopping their goals. All of their goals were scored on free positions.
“The defense did a really nice job of slowing down the fast break, not letting them drive to cage. Our transitions in the midfield looked really good. Annie Price had five goals and Lilly Nolan had six, but we also had six different people assisting. They just worked really nicely together as a team, and they played pretty lacrosse today.”
Pennsbury (4-12, 1-7 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham in its season finale on Friday.

STRATH HAVE 8, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 7
The Black Panthers took a 6-4 lead into halftime and then held on for the non-league win, handing the Bucks their first loss of the season.
“It was a tough one today, but West showed fight when they were down by four and came back to tie,” coach Tara Schmucker said. “But Strath Haven has had many one-goal games and showed the experience to see it through in the end.
“Despite having opportunities, we could not convert. We had too many unforced errors and did not have our best game on either end, but hopefully this will be a good learning experience for the team as we enter playoffs.”
Finley Ueland’s hat trick led the Bucks. Bryn Boylan added a pair of goals and an assist. Dani Dundas and Maddie Maio each added single goals.
“Individually, Casey had a big day on the draw controls with nine,” Schmucker said. “Lauren Devlin had a great game in cage with a 60 percent save percentage, and Finley Ueland had a strong performance on the attack as well.”
Central Bucks West (8-0 SOL) closed out its regular season with a 17-1 record.

The Rams- who celebrated Senior Night – raced out of the gate to a 9-2 halftime lead and then held off a late surge by the Golden Bears.

Three players (Bryanna Gordon, Alexis Lamb, and Mackenzie Cassidy) came off the bench in the second half for us and gave us the spark we needed to get going.
