NESHAMINY 2, DOWNINGTOWN WEST 1 (OT)
The Redskins are making an excellent case for the fact that they belong in the 28-team district field, winning their fifth game in a row and seventh in eight contests. The Whippets got on the scoreboard first in the 20th minute and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. With 15 minutes remaining, Dan Grindrod took a corner kick. CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 0
For the second time in as many outings, Emma Loving collected a hat trick, leading the Patriots to the big win in a non-league contest that featured the top two teams in last weekend’s District One power rankings.
“This team continues to roll along and prepare for the postseason,” said East coach Paul Eisold, whose team solidified its hold on the top seed in the power rankings.
The SOL has not been particularly kind to the Vikings, who suffered a 2-1 loss to Souderton on Sept. 12. Henderson brought a 12-1 record into the week but lost to West Chester Rustin 1-0 on Thursday before falling to the Patriots on Saturday.
Loving wasted little time before making her presence felt in Saturday’s showdown, spotting the Patriots a 1-0 lead when she turned a Delaney Kennedy pass into a goal. The Patriots took that one-goal advantage into halftime, but upped that advantage to 2-0 in the 57th minute when Hannah Zach delivered a pass that set up Loving’s second goal. Loving closed out a big afternoon with her third goal in the 66th minute, this time using a Carli Whiton assist.
“We received an outstanding defensive effort from Megan Mannato, Katie Bloom, Emily Horn and Paige Weiss,” Eisold said. “This is a terrific barometer to see how we match up with other ranked teams.”
Goalkeepers Katie Dolf and Kristen Obetz combined for the shutout.
Central Bucks East (15-0, 12-0 SOL) will be on the road at Central Bucks West on Monday for a 7 p.m. contest.
West Chester Henderson 0-0 0

East wasn’t the only SOL team to earn a big win on Saturday. Showing no ill effects from their loss to Pennsbury two days earlier, the Redskins shut out a Whippet squad that was one spot below them in last weekend’s district power rankings – the ‘Skins were number seven and the Whippets, number eight.
Gabby Farrell set the tone when she found the back of the net just two minutes and 10 seconds into the contest. The Redskins added an insurance goal in the 42nd minute when Farrell turned a Brooke Mullin pass into a goal and a 2-0 lead that stood until the final whistle.
Neshaminy keeper Victoria Smith was credited with five saves in the shutout win. West’s Morgan O’Loughlin recorded three saves in a contest that saw the Whippets hold a 5-4 edge in shots.
Neshaminy (10-4-1, 8-3-1 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Monday.
Neshaminy 1-1 2
Downingtown West 0-0 0

The Titans also helped their postseason cause with a shutout win over the Vikings. In last week’s power rankings, West Chester East was ranked 11th while South was 15th.
In Saturday’s non-league showdown, the visiting Titans had the better of play and got on the scoreboard in the first half when Aleksa Perv turned a Lindsay Weiss pass into a goal that stood the rest of the way.
Sophia Boggs preserved the shutout in goal.
“We had a great deal of offensive pressure and possession but only scored one goal,” coach Betsy Bullock said.

UPPER MORELAND 2, MERION MERCY 1
The Golden Bears found themselves staring at a 1-0 halftime deficit, and for the second time in the week, they rallied to earn the come-from-behind victory, scoring a pair of goals after the intermission.
“At the turn of the half, the Bears again came out determined,” coach Lisa Benvenuto said. “The girls knew what they needed to do, and they high pressured Merion Mercy’s defense.”
That hard work paid off when Sydney Bachmeyer connected with Brianna Byard for a goal in the 63rd minute. The Bears continued to pressure Merion Mercy’s defense and were able to regain control of the ball in the 75th minute.
“Sydndey Bachmayer again got the ball and hit a great shot, and Phoebe Longstreth was there for the rebound,” Benvenuto said of the game winner.
In last weekend’s Class AA power rankings, Upper Moreland was seventh while Merion Mercy was 10th.
Upper Moreland (7-7-2, 5-6-1, SOL) will host Norristown on Monday.
Merion Mercy 1-0 1

GWYNEDD MERCY 4, WISSAHICKON 1
Krysta Memis scored a goal off a Madison Elwell corner kick to knot the score 1-1, but the Monarchs answered two-and-a-half minutes later and took a 2-1 lead into halftime. They tacked on two more goals in the second half to earn the non-league win.
“The team just could not find a rhythm today,” coach Shannon Creamer-Franke said. “We saw nice play from our back line – Wilde, Matthews, Vervlied and Bishop, but fell short in controlling the midfield, making it difficult to push forward as a unit.
“Smith, Elwell, Foglia and Abrahams all had nice shots on frame but, unfortunately, could not find the back of the net.”
The “shining star” for the Trojans, according to Creamer-Franke, was keeper Keanna Haney, who recorded 15 saves. The Trojans held a 20-14 advantage in shots.
