Check out the recaps for SOL boys/girls soccer teams in action Friday.

Boys
HARRY S TRUMAN 3, CONWELL-EGAN 1
The Tigers managed just one win in the entire season last year – a 6-0 win over Academy Park. It took them just five games to pick up their second win this time around.
In Friday’s non-league game, Mert Yildirim opened the scoring with a goal at the six-minute mark, but that lead didn’t hold up all that long as the Eagles came back to knot the score. Ricky Pierre Toussaint scored back-to-back goals with assists from Richie Hrouda to send the Tigers into halftime with a 3-1 lead that held the rest of the way.
The Tigers had plenty of opportunities and held a decisive 16-4 advantage in shots.
“We were unable to finish a lot of our chances,” coach Matt Terry said. “Conwell-Egan’s keeper played exceptionally well in today’s match.
“We struggled a bit at times, and we needed better composure when possessing the ball in transition. Egan played a high line and got players off-sides on several occasions.”
Harry S Truman (2-2-1, 0-2-1 SOL) will host Bensalem on Tuesday.
Conwell-Egan 1-0 1
Harry S Truman 3-0 3
NORTH PENN 6, WILSON 1
Wilson had itself a dream season last year, rolling to the PIAA 4A state title only to see it vacated because of an ineligible player on its roster. Friday’s non-league game between the perennial powers was close for a while, but the Knights – behind senior Carter Houlihan’s hat trick – seized control of the game, taking out any frustration they may have been feeling after their 1-0 loss to Central Bucks East on the unsuspecting Bulldogs.
“We had a talk after losing to East – and all the credit in the world to East,” coach Paul Duddy said. “Wilson played a double overtime game last night and today had to get on a bus and travel to us. That is not easy, and I believe they had some tired legs.
“I would give credit to our guys too, but they had tired legs, and I think they’re younger than they’ve been the last year or two.”
Ryan Ilvosky turned a Ryan Stewart pass into a goal in the 14th minute to spot the Knights a 1-0 lead, and then Houlihan connected on his first of three straight goals when he converted a penalty kick.
Wilson cut that lead in half with a goal, but the Knights – or more specifically – Houlihan responded, scoring back-to-back goals. Starret Vesper assisted on the first and Ryan Mindick had the helper on the second.
Just like that, Houlihan had a hat trick and the Knights led 4-1. A goal by Michael Chaffee with a Stewart assist in the 38th minute sent the Knights into halftime with a commanding 5-1 lead.
Vrajesh Dalwaldi (Mindick assist) closed out the scoring for both sides with the lone goal of the second half.
Duddy credited the strong play of keeper Sawyer Meade.
“He played well, and I think we played better as a team tonight than we have the last couple of games,” the Knights’ coach said.
North Penn (4-1, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Tuesday for a battle of last year’s conference co-champions.
Wilson 1-0 1
North Penn 5-1 6
SPRING-FORD 3, WISSAHICKON 2 (2 OT)
The Trojans held their own against a Rams’ squad that brought a 4-1 record into Friday’s game. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie after one half, and neither team scored again until the second overtime when Brett Gulati’s goal sent the visitors home a winner.
The Trojans received a goal from freshman Matt Henderson in the 22nd minute and junior Christian Vorchheimer found the net in the 30th minute.
The Rams held an 18-10 advantage in shots.
Wissahickon (2-5, 2-2 SOL) will host Abington on Tuesday.
Spring-Ford 2-0-0-1 3
Wissahickon 2-0-0-0 2

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, WISSAHICKON 2
A Caroline Weir goal in the 40th minute spotted the Panthers a 3-2 lead heading into halftime and turned out to be the game-winner as that score stood the rest of the way.
“Weir scored from a free kick that was flicked on from Chelsea Metzler,” coach Bill Hontz said. “The girls communicated very well from front to back today.”
The Panthers also received single goals from Jackie Kubala and Danielle Moss.
“It was nice that Jackie Kubala scored on her birthday for her first varsity goal,” Hontz said. “She set the tone from the start that we had trouble with from our previous two games this week.”
The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 and again at 2-2 before Weir connected for the game-winner.
“The girls played hard, and it was a total team effort for a good win against a good team,” Hontz said. “It was nice to end a tough week for the girls who really deserve credit for staying positive.
“Outstanding play was turned in by Liz Layer and Danielle Moss working at the top.”
The win closed out a week that saw the Panthers drop back-to-back games to Pennsbury and Council Rock North.
William Tennent (2-3, 1-2 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy on Thursday, and Wissahickon (3-2, 3-1) will host Abington Tuesday.
Wissahickon 2-0 2
William Tennent 3-0 3
QUAKERTOWN 2, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (OT)
Senior Sam Barkholz found the back of the net in the eighth minute of overtime, propelling the visiting Panthers to the exhilarating overtime win.
“Sam scored on a restart after dangerous senior Haley Hangey drew a foul,” coach Mike Koch said. “This was a day for seniors to shine.”
The Panthers got on the scoreboard early when senior Brenna Foster scored with an assist from Barkholz in the first minute of the game. The Cardinals evened the score on a goal by Julia Eustace (Karolina Bocul assist) in the 15th minute.
That 1-1 score stood until Barkholz’s game-winner.
Koch credited yet another senior in the win.
“Maddie Drennan stepped in for another injured senior and played a pivotal role in the victory,” the Panthers’ coach said.
Quakertown goalie Morgan Sipprell and UD goalie Rachel Adelman both had six saves.
Last year, the Panthers didn’t win their first game of the season until their seventh game. With Friday’s thriller in the win column, they have four wins after six games.
“Our games last year were all very close,” Koch said. “Experience in those game helped prep us to get the result this year.”
Quakertown (4-2, 1-2 SOL) will host Council Rock South in a non-league game Monday, and Upper Dublin (2-3-1, 2-1-1) will be on the road at Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday.
Quakertown 1-0-1 2
Upper Dublin 1-0-0 1
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 1, LOWER MORELAND 1 (2 OT)
Two overtimes could not determine a winner in Friday’s non-league battle between the Spartans and Lions.
The Spartans trailed 1-0 after the Lions got on the scoreboard early in the second half. Emily Guicheteau scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute, connecting off a goalie rebound after a free kick by Elena Hincapie.
Neither team scored the rest of the way.
The game could well be a preview of future battles when Lower Moreland joins the SOL next year. The two teams will compete in the American Conference Freedom Division.
Springfield Township (0-5-1, 0-4 SOL) will host Upper Moreland on Tuesday.
Lower Moreland 0-1-0-0 1
Springfield Twp 0-1-0-0 1
FAITH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2, CHELTENHAM 1
The visiting Lions opened up a 2-1 halftime lead, and neither team scored the rest of the way. Donya Baxter scored the Panthers’ lone goal of the game.
Cheltenham (1-5, 0-4 SOL) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday.
Faith Christian Academy 2-0 2
Cheltenham 1-0 1
SOUDERTON 4, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 3 (OT)
(Submitted by Souderton girls’ soccer)
Souderton was forced to play overtime for the second time this week, and for the second time the Indians were able to come away with a win.
Souderton looked like clear favorites on its home turf for community night. After the first five minutes of the game, Souderton went up 3-0, with sophomore Avery Nogami providing a hat trick of assists. The first goal came in the second minute of play when Nogami slipped a ball in behind the Lansdale Catholic defense for Taylor Yoder to run onto and slot home the finish. A few minutes later, Nogami provided a second assist to Hannah Alderfer, who turned and beat her defender at the top of LC’s penalty area and fired a shot into the top corner. Almost immediately, Nogami slipped another ball in behind the defense for Averie Doughty, who finished to give Souderton a convincing lead early on in the match.
For the remainder of the half, Souderton continued to control possession with a few half chances that they couldn’t capitalize on to extend their lead. As the half wore on, the Crusaders grew in confidence, and their efforts paid off as they scored off a hard fought solo run through Souderton’s defense for an easy finish. The Indians took a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Lansdale Catholic confidence seemed to give the Crusaders new life in the second half. A combination of Souderton’s complacency and Lansdale’s tenacity resulted in a convincing comeback for the visitors. With 33 minutes left to play, LC scored its second goal off a through ball behind Souderton’s defense for a nice 1v1 run and finish. Shortly after, the Crusaders scored off a corner that swung in towards Souderton’s net with the help of the wind. The cross came off the crossbar and hit off an LC attacker who was in the right place at the right time and the ball went into the back of Souderton’s net.
Souderton was suddenly reeling in a game that seemed to be over in the first five minutes. Morgan Molyneaux was forced to make a number of saves in the second half to keep Souderton from going down. Slowly, Souderton found their footing again in the second half and started to create some chances. With 20 minutes left in the half, Averie Doughty beat the goalie with her effort on goal, but a Lansdale Catholic defender was able to clear the ball off the line. Souderton had a chance a minute later, but was unable to finish, and the game went to overtime.
Over the past two years, Souderton has had more experience than anyone with overtime, and they appeared to take control again at the start of the first overtime period. After creating some decent chances, the ball finally broke kindly for them with two minutes left in the first period of overtime as Doughty slipped a through ball to Katie Pazdziorko who finished the game off with a nice finish in the far corner of the net.
The Indians will be happy with the hard-fought win, but disappointed it took another overtime period to get it.
Souderton (5-1, 2-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks East on Monday.
Lansdale Catholic 1-2-0 3
Souderton 3-0-1 4
