CHELTENHAM 8, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 1
Sparked by the four-goal, two-assist effort of sophomore Cameron Rhodes, the Panthers bounced back from a tough loss to Lower Moreland (5-0) less than 24 hours earlier, turning a 2-1 halftime lead into the 8-1 rout with six second-half goals. The win was the first of the young season for the Panthers.
“We made some adjustments in our lineup that got blasted yesterday and had a much better effort today,” coach Bill Tonkin said.
In addition to Rhodes, fellow sophomore Keegan Peet had two goals and two assists. Junior Josh Grady also contributed two goals, while Paolo Musumeci converted a penalty kick and Chris Tomasic also scored a single goal.
“It was an all-around group effort, and Nate Quigley played well in the central defense, organizing and leading the back line,” Tonkin said.
Jacob Sterman was credited with four saves in goal in a winning effort.
Cheltenham (1-3, 0-3 SOL) will host New Hope-Solebury on Monday.

PENNRIDGE 5, SOUTHERN LEHIGH 0
The Rams erupted for four first-half goals on their way to the convincing non-league win. The Rams made it a 5-0 game 29 seconds into the second half when Jake Saville scored with an assist from Zach Klepeiss, prompting Valimont to empty his bench.
“We’ve got a big week next week, starting with Souderton on Monday, CB South and then Truman,” coach Pete Valimont said. “It’s a big three games coming up and two of them are on the road.”
It was the second five-goal effort in as many games for the Rams, who one day earlier notched a 5-1 win over Central Bucks West.
In Saturday’s win, Jared Hess scored his first of two goals less than three minutes in the game, using an assist from Nicky Williams. Then it was Aiden Castle scoring back-to-back goals. His first – with a Troy Thanel assist – gave the Rams a 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game. Castle’s second came with 14 remaining in the half, this one with a Hess assist. Hess turned an assist from Jared Aller into a goal that made it a 4-0 game at the intermission. The stage was set for a second half that was turned over to the reserves.
Valimont liked a lot of things that he saw in the shutout win.
“Aiden Castle really worked all over the field for us tonight,” the Rams’ coach said. “Jared Hess really did a great job. The two goals that he scored were just top notch. He’s really picked up his game and did a great job. Ryan Saville has done a fantastic job in the back.”
With the Rams on top 3-0, CJ Dimmick delivered a save that drew high praise from his coach.
“CJ made an incredible, full extension on a rip from 30 out to make a heck of a save,” Valimont said. “If he doesn’t make that save, it could have turned the game a little bit different.”
Pennridge (3-1-1, 1-1-1 SOL) will travel to Souderton Monday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

With just five minutes remaining and the potential of overtime looming, Mia Cairone took care of business, scoring a goal that held for the game-winner in Saturday’s non-league game against the defending Class 3A state runner-up Jems.
“Both teams had half chances throughout the game, some dangerous set piece moments, but the winning goal came when Jayne Bogle beat her defender on the outside, served a cross that just missed a header, then Taylor Brennan managed to chase it down a serve it again for Mia Cairone to flick a header over the keeper,” Rock North coach Gavin Flannigan said. “With only five minutes left, we still had to defend well, and the girls did a great job of seeing the final seconds out.
“We are very happy with the game today. It’s been a slow start to the season with only having played three games, and the outcomes have been disappointing for us. We made some lineup changes this week and tried to help simplify our ideas. While today was far from perfect it was our best team performance so far.”
Flannigan credited the efforts of some of his players in the win.
“Our back line of Sara Tyler, Riley Hamilton, Morgan McCaffery and Kyra Delsignore were very solid,” the Indians’ coach said. “Danielle Eden in goal was excellent, and they were heavily supported by Kate Thomson and Lexi Fischer off the bench.
“VJM is always a tough game, especially in the middle of the field, Lindsey Bennett and Maddy Crozier are both excellent players, but today I thought Marlena Ries and Ella Needham matched up really well in there, competing for every ball and keeping their offense off balance. A number of girls today gave us a spark and quality minutes in the heat, Delaney McCaffery and Shannon Liedl did well, and I thought Alyssa Tyler was excellent up top. Our slow start means that we now have a tough run of games coming up. We relish the challenge this presents, and I know the depth of our roster will be tested.”
Council Rock North (2-2, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy on Monday.
